One of those standout songs from the Eighties. It always sounded so multilayered and I see now how it was structured and got give Blunt his due for his playing. Great lesson too, I consider myself a beginner and this will be a struggle, but I'm all in.
Agree, one of the defining songs of the 80's for me for sure. Glad it was helpful. Stay with it, the struggle is necessary, give it time and repetition, and you'll nail it
This lad needs more sub's, I nailed this tune after a day and wanted to play it ,but couldn't find the time to work it out. Now I just have to work it out for a loop for my one man band . thank you once again.
“Moonlight in Samosa” would be a fantastic follow up, brother. I am a fan of your attention to detail and ability to convey what is actually being played. Robbie Blunt is one of my favorite guitar players and he would be floored by this video! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and talents! 🎸🇺🇸
@@12footchain - anytime, brother. I’m a singer guitarist and front my own band here in Arkansas. I’m completely self taught and you’ve already tuned up my playing. Look forward to seeing what you teach next!🎸🇺🇸
Thank you my friend! It was such a fantastic piece of work and I've always admired that tone - especially at that time when there was NOBODY playing good authentic Fender clean tone anywhere on pop radio in 1983. It really stuck out as the greatness that it was, so thanks for saying I came close on that. Thanks for subscribing
I have to agree with you about the fadeouts. There have been so many times where I have the volume cranked to catch the last couple of riffs. Gallows Pole has a great lick at the end where Page is doing his fiddle impersonation. Great video.
hello mate, i actually have spiritual connection with this song. its vey seaside beach song for me, as far as i remember its one of few songs which got me into loving rock n roll and playing the guitar, tried to learn it by ear back in the nineties, thanks for the lesson so much
Thank you, and as a matter of fact I am working on that! Doing a collaboration with some other players to do the other parts. Should be posted within next couple weeks.
Love this song! I saw The Principle of Moments tour in real time in 80s. Plant’s voice was still youthful and Blount’s guitar playing was fantastic. I’d probably call that repeating single note line a “motif” 🤷🏻Thanks for this lesson!
Really nice lessons,it is also nice to be home to learn these songs with all the nuances, like your Stone's lessons , so on this song ,that little bluesy riff sound great when sliding to the fourth fret I make sure to let the open B & E strings ring out together with the F# , this is great one to teach my students, beautiful piece ! Thanks for all you contribute 😊
Nice. Robbie Blunt played with fingers but his nails were very fairly long which helped get both that pop sound and clarity. Compression definitely helps.
Really nice job on this! Robbie Blunt is such an amazing guitarist. There are so many tasteful things going on in this song. This helps me fill a lot of gaps as I'm hacking away at it. I love in the mood too off of this album. Thanks for posting!
Cool, I'm subbing just for that first intro dude! Right on! Edit: wow I really appreciate how detailed your presenting this, I can't read music so this technique is right down my alley brother, thank you!

Thank you for posting it! Now that I have buttered you up with accolades, please please, PLEASE create some lessons for tracks from Robert Plant's "Pictures at Eleven" Thank you again!
Thanks brother! Great idea. Burning Down One Side is such an awesome song. Straight up could have been on In through the Out Door. I'll work on that and look at others
@@12footchain - Thanks, Man. I'm a huge Plant fan. I had a chance encounter in the 90's in Columbus, Oh where I LITERALLY saw him by himself shopping for a book for his daughter. NICEST GUY IN THE MUSIC BUSINESS! Chatted with him for 5 minutes and he signed a Rolling Stone book that I pulled off of the shelf. I got tickled at him because he asked me why I wasn't at the Ohio State football game that day! LoL! I told him I didn't care for football and that i was busy at home trying to learn ten Years Gone. He laughed and said, "Oh.... Don't go backwards! Go forward!" LoL

I appreciate you putting this together. I would find the lesson more helpful if the tab for what you are playing would be displayed as well. Many of the sections move very fast without benefit of knowing how or what is being played.
You have shown the hidden parts of the puzzle and you did well . Thanks for the workshop . By the way, excellent playing and tone. ( which amp are you using , if you don't mind ! )
interesting. you may be right, but i swear i hear the Ab note there as it is arpeggio'd from the 4th string to 1st...all across the 1st fret, Eb, Ab, C, F as the first chord in that sequence. I think an Eb 6/9 would be Eb G C F, right? I just don't hear the open G on the first chord
Robbie Blunt has to be the #1 most underrated guitarist of the century. Just amazing!!!
The guitar play in Big Log stops me dead in my tracks every time I hear it...I'm always mesmerized when I hear it
FINALLY somebody actually plays it EXACTLY right. Thank you.
Just picked up the guitar....this is a "goal" song to play for me!!

So Cool …one of the nicest guitar tunes ….a little bit of rock and a touch of Spanish sound …..now ….I need practice ….pteactice….practice…..👍
Great lesson… I was using ultimate guitar and couldn’t get a grasp of the playing behind the verse. You explained perfectly…. Thanks so much!
Awesome, glad it helped. Yeah thar ultimate guitar stuff is spotty at best imho
