All the *some rank* 2-s are a problem most of the time, since you are already facing ppl that are close to the rank above.
It took me like 3 months to get into G4 from S2. I am now G2 and I am already scared of the future of getting to G1, which will be the next break point, after which plat should be semi more doable

Also, because a lot of popular streamers call Plat and below Low Elo, now most people in the League community actually consider Plat/Gold to be low elo, despite the fact that if you are in plat/gold, then you are already in the top 20% of the player base. So, because of this idea of what low elo is, a lot of players lose their mental stability and start blaming others for keeping them in this "trash elo" instead of just stepping back and seeing that they are already doing quite well.

I think this “better than XX%” of other players isn’t a helpful metric. Most pros consider anything under Master or D1 in some regions to be bad and the gap between a D1 and challenger player is noticeable even if you’re not at that level, you can see how differently they play. The bigger problem with the considering yourself to be XX% of the top is that it can give you a false sense of security that prevents you from taking ownership of your own mistakes/games, which is what the whole point of this video is. Neace has a few videos where he talks about how low diamond is the worst tier to climb through since the players think their good, so their gameplay stagnated and they become satisfied with reaching something popularly coveted rather than focusing on becoming better as players.

    • @rishabhs156

@@ollie-d For someone who aspires to be a pro player, yes this is ot a helpful metric. For rest of the ordinary folks who just want to have fun and be good player, have something else i his career to work upon, this is a helpful to know that he is already above average in the game. I agree this should not be used a s metric and we should always strive to be better than what we are currently.

Recently I was playing Ekko mid vs Katarina. It’s been some time since I played Ekko but I have a 67% winrate in 57 games or something close to that, mastery 7.
Kai’sa in champ select said: “Feed me and we win” so well I didn’t have a good opinion on her and already was sighing in champ select. 3 minutes into the game she starts flaming the support and not even focussing on the game anymore because our Zyra accidentily stole 2 or 3 minions. Well I pointed out that the Kai’sa should just shut up and play so we weren’t on good terms already.
I went even in lane vs Katarina, no one solo killed each other, I had a 5-10 cs lead or something. I roamed bot once and gave Kai’sa a free kill, even after that she was still flaming me non stop.
Top was feeding hard, enemy mordekaiser had 7 kills out of the laning phase and started roaming mid, I got turret dived thrice under different turrets by the Trundle Jungle and Morde top. So I started stacking up deaths and ofcourse the Kai’sa started flaming harder.
Enemy team was hitting our nexus but we came back, later we rushed Baron and after we got baron, I did a flank and got a 5 MAN STUN with Ekko W, we aced them and ended the game. Not a single person said nice play to me because Kai’sa was flaming me and they all acted like I was trash the whole game so once they start flaming they can never say a goos thing to you after that.

I quit LoL a while back, so maybe they fixed this issue, but there is/was a fundamental difference to climbing in master, GM, and challenger then there is to climbing in iron through diamond. One has divisions and promos that will reset your LP, and the other doesn't.
In master if you can keep a 52% win rate on your climb, you will increase your LP long term. If you can maintain 52% win rate over 1500 games with on average 16 lp gain/loss a game you will end up with around 960 more lp then you started with. The minimum LP to enter grand master is 200 and challenger is 500 to put this into perception.
Below Masters, promotional and divisional games are/were things and dropping rank was/is east
The problem with 52% win rate is it is extremely hard to reliably win the 3/4 games needed to advance a division or the 4/6 needed to promote. In addition when you failed to advance your lp would reset to a benchmark. You start a new division 0 lp. Lose 2 games and your back to your previous LP, but not at 100 LP, but at a predefined 60 lp. This means in order to advance a division you didn't just need a 52% win rate. You also needed a properly timed set of roughly 8 games where you only lost 2 times. If you lost more then that you would fall back to the previous/current division 60 lp. The chance of winning 6 out of 8 games at 52% win rate is: C(8,2).52^6.48^2 ~ 12.75%.
So every division takes roughly 8 attempts to climb past (at 8 games each). This is in addition to getting to the point to climb. assuming 16 lp a game again. It takes 64 games to gain 30 lp and 110 games to get to the point in the process where you are oscillating between divisions (the other 70 lp). This means to gain a full 100 lp with a 52% win rate, it takes on average 175 games. If you played 1500 games like the master player you would go up roughly 8 divisions. If your goal was to go from bronze to gold you would probably need to play more then double the games a player would need to to go from masters to high challeneger, at the same win rate.
The way to climb in below master is/was not with a 52% win rate. It is/was by getting better at winning games then everyone else your playing against/with.
Not sure if LoL ever got better. I quit because this system was so punishing. After seeing the ahri drama I kind of want to come back just to ban ahri, but I am not sure my mental health could handle it.

If the autofill system wasn't atrocious then maybe people wouldn't dodge or flame. A filled jungle vs an on role jungler is night and day. It will be an auto loss 95% of the time

@@tinnitusthenight5545 People simply do not like being told what they can and cannot play in a video game. We have role que for a reason. maybe if having auto fills on your team wasn't an auto loss 95% of the time maybe people wouldn't dodge lol. Instead the games become 1 sided stomps. Explain to me how a player will learn anything in this situation? What incentive is there to play out a game that is over from draft? Maybe people don't have the time to learn a new role and just want to play a few games. Maybe they simply don't want to. If Riot wants players to learn how to play more than 1 role they have to make it worth while for the player instead of just "you know how to play this role for when you are filled". Even some blue essence, orange essence, a champion shard, literally anything as a compensation for taking one for the team.
What you people seem to fail to understand about the dodging problem is that it is merely a symptom not the cause. What is the main reason that people dodge? autofill and game quality. When you have a top laner as your jungler you already know there is a good chance that your jungler will be outclassed. maybe if riot just AUTOFILLED THE SAME ROLE PER TEAM that would be a good start. Unfortunately riot really doesn't do anything but punish players for wanting better game quality. You want to punish dodging but never seem to ask yourself why so much dodging is happening in the first place. Not to mention the amount of soft inting, and greifing. How often has a player actually been suspended for intentional feeding? hardly ever it seems like the amount of times i've reported. It's hilarious that people bring up longer que times as if the actual que times would be that much different compared to now when you can have up to 3 dodges per que that often are dodged at the last moment. A single champion select can go for up to 11 minutes. Champ select being dodged two or three times amounts to likely what is a seconds difference in que times if autofill was removed/optional.

this same thing happens when you pick offmeta. few weeks ago I picked up Zac mid because I saw it in Korea and it was popping off so I gave it a go and it felt extremely good. At least half the games from champ select I get question mark pings or the first time something would go wrong I would get flamed for going tank zac mid. Majority of games I had most dmg in game as well as solo winning my lane/ having map pressure. Because these players (also in mid to low diamond) havent seen it they will blame that for the game result mid way through the game and no matter what happens they mentally have lost the game already. It made it to where I cant go Zac mid until masters

Curtis i love you and your content keep it up man, so genuine and to the point, and completely for free thats just beyond awesome. i followed you on everything i could and like subbed. You just made an entire video about the issues i was fighting myself without me realising it.
MMR+WR+LP gains were everything i was caring about the past few months, thinking to myself that high elo players are just abusing the ranked system and get to high elo. Yet i stopped playing on my main and made hundreds of accounts to get gold/plat/dia and putting them away the moment they started getting shitty LP gains.
I just even lost my stamina in ranked playing one a few games and than getting shit pissed at myself for losing an game tilting me for the rest of the day.
i dodged every low WR no games played troll picks.
Recently i started playing no matter what , no dodges, no checking up on mates, not caring about picks and teamcombs, and i started climbing again.
I dont even get tilted anymore when my team goes 0/10 i just dont care anymore, i just play for the sake of playing, which i didnt do in a while.
My improvement was stagnating, but now i feel like starting to understand more about my Stage 3 problems and feel open to my stage 2 and 1 problems :D
    Thanks again my dude.

As a rank 500 peak in NA hard soloq grinder who sits on a 52-54% win rate on average when I'm grinding, I constantly get flamed by anyone and everyone whenever I play games as being hard stuck or boosted, especially when I play on other accounts to learn champions on my diamond accounts. Many people focus so much on how they perceive the game should be played and often consider me "not good" because I'm not a flashy player, but prefer to play smart macro games instead of high octane like some of those other players in high elo we know.

As someone who got inted a lot in mid plat this year, I very much understand this. The game needs SERIOUS help. My league is low gold, my MMR is mid plat, my winrate's about 60%, and I'M THE ONE GETTING FLAMED when somebody goes 0/5 before I can make a play anywhere on the map! What is wrong with these people? My stats have nothing to do with it, I'm bloody smurfing down from diamond, my lane opponent and/or enemy jungler is getting CRUSHED, and yet it's still somehow my fault that I can't be in two places at once yet.
Also yes, clamping makes this worse.
As for karate: there are no excuses in a real fight. You don't have coinflip teammates, you can't get your account stalked by queuefarmer (okay you can, but the cops will probably do more about them than in league) etc.

Its funny how this differs from game to game.
Back when I played Hearthstone, a 52% WR deck was considered broken OP and people would just tell you to "grind the 52% winrate out". If you played 52% winrate long enough, youd end up in Legend.
In any game a race/hero/character with a global 52-54% winrate would be considered busted. In HOTS, one of the heros got a 56% winrate and is a notorious pick/ban.
Hilarious how ppl would consider a 52% WR profile bad, yet in other games (and even just statistics) a 52% WR is considered phenomenal.

I got flamed so often but what they didn't understand that I was at this winrate with positions that I was practicing. You can only practice so much in normals before I feel like ranked is better for practice. And when I wanted to climb faster I picked up my main role again but had something like 75 different champions played in 125 ranked games. Even had so many gold egos calling me trash that I've had to 1v1 them after the game to put them in their place.

Inting adcs always blame me when they're doing poorly due to them not listening to my pings about ganks/vision/enemy movement/etc. They whine about me stealing their cs and kills when they're dead, or I'm pushing a wave on the other side of the map. Meanwhile I've roamed and deep warded enemy jungle, successfully ganked mid, and helped jungler get dragons. Sigh.

Proud owner of a 44% WR account :)
The explanation is simple: I don't care about WR and LP and I spammed new champions I wanted to learn this season. Still figuring out which my champ pool will be.
    Improvement > LP/rank :)
Another fun thing I occasionally get from my account is: "Ohh you have the season 1 gold cup icon, and you still a plat player after 10 years, you suck!" and the thing they don't realize is that I stopped playing on s2 and just came back in s10 again, and even then I play about 200 games a year. Basically: we have lots of statistics in these pages now, but most ppl don't have a clue how to read them or what the stats actually mean.

I was Silver since Season 3. In Season 9 I decided to play soloq more seriously. 75% winrate through Silver (Zyra otp lol), 62% at Plat 1 promos, finished in Plat 3 with 58-59% (200 games). Next season: 65% in Gold to 55% at Plat 3. Looking at my winrate I felt like I could even be Master. But whenever I failed promos I lost my focus and motivation. What is my level? I certainly need to play more to find out, but as we're playing we're (hopefully) also improving. So rank and winrate really can't be equal to skill level. It's there to have rough estimation and to make things more interesting.

I am so scared of getting flamed, and ruining a game, that I always back up players who get flamed. Like I never flame, I just say 'don't do this, do that', and even if they don't listen and keep on feeding, I just sigh and let it be. And if someone starts flaming one person, I am like defense mode and try to protect them, cuz nothing ruins a game more than constant flaming and bringing someone down. And I just hope someone has my back one day(spoiler: never happened)
Here a short story of how I got flamed by literally everyone. I go blind pick, i write mid in chat first, someone picks yasuo and just walks down midlane and says I should leave. I stood my ground and said that it is my right to play mid, cuz unspoken rule. He goes bot but flames me, but smh garen stays in my lane and doesn't leave. Flames me constantly, says he gonna f*ck my mom, that he hopes my mom dies. Bla bla. I say 'my mom dead'(i lied, i just thought sympathy would stop him from flaming), he says 'gonna f*ck her corpse'. He feeds the enemy mid laner a 9/0/1 meal, doesn't buy items. Doesn't stop flaming. Yasuo says he is happy that I 'cry'. The toplaner says to ME to shut up. At the end the supp says 'thx' to me we lost... We didn't have a jungler obv. But that game was so bad, and ruined my mood so much. I logged off and was really just so bummed out. I try to avoid to play after 2 am alone... cuz of scum like this. It was turkish server, if anyone wonders.
