KV5 is my favourite tank. Like you say it's stupid but so much fun (when it works). Almost 6000 battles in it, 8 skill crew, 3 marks, 60% WR, and many kamikaze medals. I set mine up a little differently. Hardening in the slot, turbo and gun rammer. Then repair kit, medkit, food. Pump up the mobility and DPM to about 3000.
Gun rammer? But yeah if you have a 8 skill crew i can understand that. Can i ask you how you did setup you kv-5 with the field mods?
@@roberthoogenboezem3301 all terrain suspension, parallax adjustment and periscope drive. Second slot mobility. And I don't use the alternate loadouts.
@@lMrJackl and what do you think about the KV4 Kersl.? Is it comparable? Bcs I love mine. Fast heavy, 90ton and good pen. Currently 2marks with 91%.
@@ianhollanders501 Yes it's nice. Comparable to KV5 in many ways. I see it as a trade off, it has better alpha and pen but less DPM. Man I wish KV5 had better gold ammo.

AAAAAAND these same people still proceed to spam nothing but gold ammo like the scrubs they are. Because God forbid they'd take some time to learn weak points.

@@nephalos666 Just played like 12 games at tier 8, 10 overruns against me, like, balanced, but with 100% gold spam against, EVERY shot, not one AP shell fired and penned, ALL gold, what a game...
I never bought the KV-5. I went with the Lowe back in the day. Never regretted it either. The Lowe made me so much money over the years. Trained up some good crews too.
The Lowe is objectively better but I think less fun
@@krogg5868 I have had KV-5 since like 2013 or so. It can be fun at times, but it is most certainly not the tank you should go for with your bonds, unless you already have a bunch of others. Most of the time it doesn't really work that well. Huge weakspots, lots of tanks can even pen your front turret armor because it is barely angled, even more tanks can do it if they spam gold. Have had some high damage games with lots of ramming and other shenanigans, but those are few and far between. Most times the KV-5 is an xp pinata, the dpm can allow you to trade a bit so that you at least do some damage yourself, but the armor is really only great on paper. And reverse sidescraping sometimes works great to cover your weakspots, but again lots of guns with higher pen go through your front turret even with standard rounds.

I actually bought the tank when it was in the premium shop. Its easily one of my more favorite tanks and is a great credit maker if you play it right

kv-5 is my favourite tank. it’s just so… fun to play. armour *everywhere* and speedy, as well as the decent gun.

As someone who bought the KV-5 for 8000 bonds not so long ago, I completely agree with QB.
I have a more "normal" setup on it and still have a lot of fun.
sure you have armor, you can ram, but most of people know how to fight it, sure sometimes you have a good game but its a rarity. just dont buy it, bond equipment is much more worth or save for tier 10 foch 155, or if you have 15k bonds buy 121b
I got the KV-5 a few weeks ago with bonds. I got in a good matchup against tier 6's and they didn't know where to pen. I just held the W key
I love KV-5 because I don't play it, it feels so great to bonk a heavy in the face with something like T30
TDs don't even have to aim for weakspots, T8 (maybe even some T7) and higher can go straight through front turret.
Hi QB, great video! I just bought the KV-5 with my bonds and even put in a bond improved configuration which i got for free for a 10 year membership. Would you recommend using lend-lease oil instead of extra combat rations for a f2p player in order to save an extra 7,5k credits every game and gaining an extra 5% engine power? Thanks for your very helpful tips anyways!
The KV-5 Has pretty good armor all over. The standard rounds penetration is kinda low compared to newer Tier 8 Premium tanks.
I actually changed up my Lowe. I put a turbo on it, vents and coated optics
Thanks QB..I took your advice.spent 8000 and I love this tank. It is great bouncing 4000 of my armour and imagining the frustration from the opposition...helps win rate too..
Always loved my KV5, but for pure kick ass, win some games, and dominate, Pz.V/IV. No other tank can make the difference on a poor team, which can happen a lot. Preferential match making and a ramming god. Set-up is highly debatable, but I go for Bounty vents, Spall and Improved Hardening with Steady Hand directive that hits consistently on the move, Repair, 105 Octane and food lets you keep up with scouts and can be a nasty surprise to enemy scouts. Ramming one tank while shooting another makes this an ultimate brawler. Sure, I feel guilty now and then, but for "The break you need" best investment in WOT if you get a chance.
Just bought the KV-5 for 8000 hard-earned bonds, completely F2P. First game in it, I ram an AMX 65 t so hard I *literally flip him over.* I got blown up almost immediately after, but my team won a crushing 15-4.

If i remember corectly this engine boost can be desactivated and activated during the battle so yes its stupid move to let it run while you sit in position and look for shot

I cant make the kv-5 work. I recently bought it, but its not fun to play when everyone spams gold at you and penetrates you almost every single time.
The veteran players don't even need good to pen you, just kill R2-D2
KV5 could never really depend on its armor
K.V. 5, an interesting device, but not for "Pharm" and not for European Random. Here is a somewhat different gameplay. However, in "Frontline" mode. This tank can earn credits very well. Thanks to relatively good "DPM" and cheap shells. However, it is necessary to play as a platoon and with boosters to farm.

KV-5 was my first high tier premium tank, still have it and like it a lot.
Don't listen to Quicky, save your bonds and get the M60.
I can't remember if I bought the KV-5 or Type59 first back in the day. But I've had it since around 2013. Loved playing it back then, but you did have to protect that R2D2 on the front, which you'll still have to do today if you come across players who know what they're doing.
I haven't played mine for some time now, because of that R2D2 weak spot, players who know about that weak spot, and power creep, that has made this tank a hard ask these days.
After watching this video, I'm going to set up mine how QB has his, or as close I can for the moment, and give it another go. I'm guessing QB is running a highly skilled crew also, which will help.

I am sitting on 22.5k bonds. The video was fun but I remain unconvinced. Maybe some time.
KV-5 is only occasionaly fun, usually you are a large xp pinata in that thing. I wouldn't advise spending bonds on it unless you already have a lot of the better tanks from the bond shop or if you specifically like the KV-5 that much. For an average player, which most of us are, it's hard to make the KV-5 work.
If you want to be more consistant in a premium tank from the bond store; I’d go for T26E5 P.

T-34-3 I'd say, Patriot has too low alpha damage, it can't trade with heavies, and mediums have better gun handling often with higher alpha too, it's sort of good on paper, but in gameplay it suffers for being a heavy tank with 240 alpha, if it's top tier then sure, it's good but otherwise it isn't too competitive

I cant speak for WOT but for WT, my fav tank for having fun is definitely the KV-2 (ZIS 6)

Favorite tank for kicking back and having fun. Tier 4 Hetzer with the Derp. And FV 4005. Nothing more juicier than seeing the side of a full health leopard and deleting him in one shot.

hey QB, just had my first game in KV5. 3,5k dmg dfone / 3,6k dmg blocked / 2,6k dmg from spotting. This tank is monster.
Bought KV-4 Krev instead a little while ago and I regret it. Regret it even more now
I bought this not so long ago and it's so fun, and even when I try hard it works, crushing dps plus hp and speed, a lot of people wiff the weak spots and u can wide and wiggle to troll
I got 8k bonds recently and was tempted to buy this tank after this video. But I thought of my play style and relatively bad WR so I spent it elsewhere. I got a Guard, which I don't regret at all. The KV5 looks interesting, but it's not for me yet.
The KV-5 is a “bad” tank but because of it you never take it seriously so you have so much more fun.
playing off meta and making it work always results in a good time.
I just got this last week and play it like a ramming god. If I can't make it to the other heavy it absorbs so much damage my teammates wreck the other side. IT IS THE BEST 8k bond tank and the most fun!

Got this tank gifted during a gamescom like 6 years ago. Stopped playing the game like 2-3 years ago. Will occasionally play during christmas and still watch your videos. However when I log in now it looks like some gacha game, i just can't
When I first got this tank a few days ago my initial impressions were bad but having now had it for a week and done 85ish battles in it I just checked my ranking in it, I have really enjoyed playing it so far and seeing me ranked 27 on EU server blew me away then I noticed that my win rate of just over 65% put me in 2nd by win rate as well.
So in conclusion, thanks for the recommendation :)
And then the next 4 matches I bounce 90% of my shots while they pen every shot through my turret while I'm side scraping and we lose the match :(
I bought the kv5 many years ago, and it’s possibly my most played tank. It’s a ram beast. The gun could be better tho.
stubborn emil is my choice. no need to move aroud to much. the depression's good enough to take any aggresive inclune position and yoink the hp by hitting weakpoints with 230mm pen
I did. first I had it as rental for a week and it was so good that I saved up bonds to gett it. I'm playing it quite often.
All that because of preferential matchmaking so i don't have to fight disgustang tier X ☺️
I remember the bad ol' days of grinding. I bought the KV-5, Lowe, and Type 59. Then I would cycle through them and I could crank out 1 million credits and ton of XP in a day. Every once in a while I still do that. BUT QB, shame on you. The BEST thing about the KV-5 is RAMMMMMMING SPEEEEEED! Set that baby up for ramming and crush, literally, most of the enemy tanks. Oh and reverse side scraping to protect R2D2.

KV5 was the 2nd prem I bought after T-34, it was fun early days when it fight against lower tiers, later it became obsolete with its 167 pen gun and everyone was shooting the copula. Both I got rid of them.. RIP
ok, i was looking for a bit of relaxing fun and went for it. i had almost 40k bonds and no idea what to do with them, so no problems there. hardening, bounty turbo and bounty protection. but instead of food i am using a repair kit. i have know about this built for long time, but never tried it before. it is fun, it is not competitive, but it can create monster games. 20 games so far, average 2400, far from the best, but ok i guess, considering the play style :)
Having 3 marked it it’s important to say this tank doesn’t make credits. This tank needs gold to work. Yeah you can ram but remember you’re playing with 212 gold pen.

at the moment my "Kick back and have fun" tank is the Corba, im not good in it but its a dumb tank that can do really well in the right situations

Equipment only prevent one time ammorack explotion. It does not protect it any other way. It gets damaged just like without it.
Favourite tank to have a laugh in? FV304. Keep your distance and shoot round corners.
I wish they would buff the pen just a hair. It's brutal sometimes against some of these newer tanks
I played an entire game one time ramming into the enemy with it. Tier 8 Himmelsdorf. I shot a few, but ramming was so much fun.
It's fun, but 90% of the time people clearly understand to just shoot the r2-d2 turrets and just pen every time.

It's rough when you against tier 9s or some of the no frontal weakness premium tanks, but almost no tank is better when top tier against tier 6s. Charge ahead and just lay waste lol.

My secont Tier 8 Premium, my first was T26e5Patriot I got for free to and I always have good results with it 64%: wr one of my best, and I havee fun too
My personal kick-back-and-have-fun tank is the OG King of Derp, the KV-2.
"Take view range because artillery isn't really a thing anymore." Sure, that's why tier 10 is filled with 2-3 arties every game, same goes for tier 9.
KV5 was my favorite heavy until the free gold rounds. Gold rounds and the massive R2D2 weak spot make the tank pretty much unplayable today.

I did a few weaks ago, totaly agree. Tier 9 will be hell but for the t8 and lower your verry good. Armor works strangly well and alright dpm

Back in the day I used to drive it backwards to protect the r2 unit in the front.
I have been playing WOT sense Beta. The KV5 has always been my favorite tank. Along with the T34 American. The reason is the KV5 is so special to me are those matches where you just read the map/servers just right and get its momentum going..... SUPRISE KV5 right up your teams @$$. Now I know WOT is all about fairness, strategy, and nerfing anything German related that is good. It is just the gameplay of reading the servers where everyone is playing dumb and saying "okay, okay" I got a king of dumb KV5 right in your teams weak spot.
Kv-5 went from good, to powercreeped and now back to good/fun. I have 11000 bonds, shouls i buy 121/m60 or kv5? I have most of the other premiums.
I was thinking if KV-4 Kreslav is better than KV-5, it's definitely more free to play, has a better pen gun and similar ramming capabilities for 2k more bonds

If you want to have a rather strong tier 10 or higher tier tank in general, prob 121B, it's really good and very high HEAT pen

kv5 is indeed the most fun i own it 7 years and i have 2k battles on it and still enjoy it
Got 40k bonds atm just buying the odd bonds equipment.
I believe in EU server, KV-5 is still playable... However in Asia server, those snipers and campers would definitely teach a lesson if you dare to go with any Super Heavies, like KV-5, Type4&5 H, etc,.
I use removed speed govs and if you turn them on and off the engine hardly ever breaks.
Unfortunately I need to prioritize on bond equipment for the moment but I do plan on buying the KV-5 next time it's on sale as it does seem like loads of fun.

Skill level matters and also what style you like to play. My favorite premiums are the Renegade and Skoda T56. There are other really good ones but those two are how I grind credits. If you like meds can't beat the Progetto 46.

It's my tier8 defender killer.
Type 59 ! several thousand missions in it. Nobody plays it anymore. Back in the day, a squad of 59's would get 10-12 kills between them. Nowadays, I rely on that great turret armor and speed, and bounce a lot of stuff, plus no T10 matches :) Shoot nothing but gold and still make $$$!

hey QB. i have enough bonds, somehow, to pick up the KV-5. however, i could also pick of the KV-4 Kreslavsky or the IS-5. does the advice hold for higher bond-cost vehicles?
IS-5 sorta like sluggish stock T-10 anyway, if you know how to use T-10, you know how to use IS-5
IS5 is waste of 10k, believe me. KV5 owns that vehicle in it's little pocket, any day.
IS-5 is ok I guess. Its playstyle is very similar to T-10 and it has troll armor, but ... well it is not that much fun to play. It favours the heavybreathing tryhards. KV-4 Kresl. has a unique playstyle and is more fun to play. Honestly if I can recomend, if you have spare try the T-103 sometimes. It has very good turret armor and an amazing gun. It plays like a support heavy tank.

@@retmastasrem3890 Id suggest go for T-103. It have good penetration and able to damage even tier 10. It have pretty good credit making as well since you damaging higher tier tanks. I set up mine at full camo set since it have very low camo value, but it workable since the tank itself big and armor kinda sucks. Try play it at long distance to maximize the tank survivality.
One TD in B0 would have shut that entire 1st game push down.
