Super helpful! Although when I got to sample 4, I also used contours that were continuous (not closed) but when I imputed the Patch Command, the only thing that patched was the one with the closed curves, Any solutions regarding this?

Hi Dylan. Thank you for a very helpful tutorial! Is there any command or easy way to distribute the contour lines in Rhino other than the manual method you are using here? I have a very complex landscape with 2D contours and I am foreseeing hours and hours of work if I need to lift them manually. Best regards, L

Great Vid mate, Im relatively new to rhino and learningRhinot atm. Can I ask is there a simple way to take those contours generated in the final option turn them into a stepped model like the 3rd option you show, or would you need to manually close them before extruding?

    • @DylanBrown

I don't know of any faster way of closing the curves. You would have to copy a rectangular line for each contour and then use the trim tool to cut away the unwanted section.

its what i did in the end, although its worth noting you can select all the lines and then trim with a fence which i wasnt expecting so didnt take anywhere near as long as id anticipated. I had well over a hundred contours but turns out you can extrude/cap them all at the same time as well which i wasnt expecting

what to do if the central contour is of least elevation? And how come yours is creating a top surface but mine is through and through? sorry, new with this software, Architecture 2nd year Student, Delhi.

Awesome tutorial!! But drawing the lines are very tedious.

Is there a faster way to lift the contour lines to their height, rather than typing in each one, one at a time?
