For those curious, Frantik looked into how the game works and said this: "When you get 4 stars, it checks the number which is keeping track of the "color cycle" for the coins/? blocks. if it's 1, it will send you to princes. if it's 3 or 5, it will send you to bowser sans princess. and any other number sends you to a random room so 1/6 chance of princess, 1/3 chance of bowser with no princess, and 1/2 chance any random room"
the "beyond the wall" tip is for the room shown at 10:28, in second quest go over the wall at the end and there's another pipe that leads to a set of kaizo rooms
Someday, someone's going to make a romhack that punishes you for getting Small Fire and it'll be hilarious. Like...the game does some kind of check to see if you were ever in that state and right near the end of the game throws in an unavoidable game over if you were ever Small Fire, but if you weren't, the game progresses normally.
So the title theme was Lufia 2's overworld theme. The most common gameplay theme was the 1st dungeon theme from Wonder Boy III: Dragon's Trap ...but I have no clue what the Bowser Castle theme was.
The Bowser Castle music is the boss music from Final Fantasy 2 ... for Gameboy! I played Gameboy a lot as a kid. Surprise hit of nostalgia. ruclips.net/video/qL0DQElmU30/видео.html
I've been thinking recently that more than Mario Maker I'd like procedurally generated levels. But like, a set of levels I can play through and then generate more to play through those
Okay I dont know if there's a romhack like this or a way to even make one. But what about a transition randomiser? Every time you go through a screen transition, like a pipe or the end of a level, it takes you to a completely random transition, like if you take the very first pipe it puts you into the start of 2-4 or you pop out of a pipe in 2-1. The goal would be to try and find a way to the last level and beat the game. Again I have no technical knowledge of if this could be done but it sounds really cool!
Pov you are mario in the pipe: you emerge from it, and you are underwater. You can see something vaguely in the distance, you inch closer. Its an astronaut. Whatcha know about rolling down in the deep
If the hack was RNG based and there was a 1/6 chance that you got the princess and a 1/3 chance that you go to Boswer in the first place, it's a little confusing as to why you got sent to so many random rooms.
I have been grinding this game for months!!! Btw Kosmic, some stuff to know for the hard stage, “The Wall” is the daytime buzzy beetle room, and there is a hard separate stage that follows. I would HIGHLY ADVISE save states should you make it that far.

Sounds like it's speedrunnable with that information...
@@gloweye that's just to handle the star warps, each pipe transition is would be much harder to control

Idk if its just me, but it seems like at 0:34 the koopa shell hitting the walls perfectly goes with the music.

"it should be a fake bowser if it's not... the real bowser."
Oh my god! 2:00 that's one of my favorite boss themes ever! It's from Final Fantasy Legend 2 for Game Boy, which I think is actually SaGa 2.
Yup! The Gameboy Final Fantasy games had *great* music.

That's the first time I saw Mario grow from a poison mushroom.
lol
Have you played, or know of any ROM hacks that have procedural level design like Spelunky? Rogue-like Mario would be pretty cool, maybe.
Spelunky is unreachable on the spectrum of uniqueness
There’s an SMW hack called Secrets of Mario made by Dtothe4th that is rogue like! Check it out :D
@@dj_enby nice! I'm a huge fan of everything else Dtothe4th has been involved with, I'll definitely check it out

The Intro Music of Lufia 2. Holy Heck that's been a Long time since i heard that Overworld Theme...
It hasn't for me. That game is such a masterpiece that I keep coming back to it once in a while~
Bowser music is from Final Fantasy Legend 2 on Gameboy. The music of my childhood.
Crazy that it was made in 2003, 18 years ago. OG Super Mario Bros. was made in 1985, 18 years before that!

The legendary romhack... small fire and 8000 shell kick!
17:59 Most Satsifying Platforming ever.
The title screen music is from Lufia 2 for SNES.
It's really interesting how many interesting hacks smb has.
Gotta also give credits to the hacking community for the creativity too.
9:40 I think walking speed physics are slightly better for something like this
2:36 I think the invisibility flashing synced well
A roguelike Mario hack with procedurally generated power ups with random effects, enemies with unique abilities, and level layouts would be awesome.
Kosmic: purposefully softlocks himself to get a coin
Also Kosmic: purposefully dies to get a pipe
Also Kosmic: never fails to glitch a romhack
I watch these every Wednesday and I always hit the like button before the ads end.
Another kosmic video to brighten my day!

2:02 music from Final Fantasy Legends 2
0:07 Lufia 2 overworld music in a Mario Bros 1 ROM hack? Never would have seen that coming.
The princess sprite in this hack is one of the best I've seen.
Mom said I can go *anywhere* in life so I decided to hit the pipe!
“What do stars do? *laughs* I have no idea.”
This killed me for some reason.
Coolest hack so far imo, really felt like the spirit of an actual NES game
Oh i remember playing this as a kid. The game bugged and there was weird glitches everywhere idk why. Still cool

This hack and video was just great. Thank you.
the cool new music sounds a lot like a 8-bit rendition of Walking On The Sun don't you think ?
It's actually from Wonder Boy: Dragon's Trap!
This ROM hack looks super fun!
The Wonderboy music was cool in this one.
if Super Mario Maker had Mario Lost Levels except it's on acid
Love the Final Fantasy Legends 2 music in the game!

I also think Mario's Keep music would go well with this
