love benz, i would drive this thing everyday no problem, couldn't say the same for a 57 chevy not because of the rarity but because of reliability.

when someone drives old car people consider him poor or less affordable and when someone drives an old mercedes benz people consider him rich... this is the class of the mercedes benz

my uncle just sold one of these. it was black with a red leather interior and it also had the automatic clutch option. they were truly unique cars but i'm more of a big cadillac man personally.

14:45 "Clean as can be" meanwhile my eyes are focused on the $3 70 year old brake booster hose that's falling apart. Biggest problem I've seen with old cars. Nobody does the simple easy things that could leave you stranded, or in this case, having to stand on the brake pedal for full braking. Very clean car though it's very nice. I want it.

A 220S Ponton is a W180 chassis, not a W105 as mentioned several times in the video. A W105 would be a Type 219 sedan. Just FYI. Nice car.

Seems like W210's designers looked back on this model - I mean round headlights and the dash, too.

Nate, I wonder if you could make a review of a 1986 Mercedes 300SDL Turbo Diesel? This had replaced the 300SD originally introduced in 1978 (atop the W116 chassis) and last updated for 1981 (atop the W126 chassis). It's obviously marginally longer than the original (hence the "L" in "SDL").
Unlike the original version, the 3.0L oil burner in this beauty is a 6-cyl OM603 series rather than the 5-cyl OM617 series. Both versions were turbocharged.

Do I see a double wishbone front suspension? It must have decent handling for a 50s sedan

You know when classic car prices are getting too high. That's when people don't talk about the motor of a car or roadholding anymore. No, they only talk about investment and rising prices. Look back at the crash of 1989. History is repeating itself. mark my words!

You would be 100% correct sir. Somebody recently bought a Ferrari GTO for $48.4 MILLION. No vehicle is worth that much money. Thats stupid.

This is a very nice example of a lovely Merc. I much prefer the shape of this model compared to the 1960 update which to me was quite boring

Back in 1959 my long gone dead Mother, wanted one of these Mercedes- Benz 220 S hardtop models. But when she came home with a colour broucher for this vehicle, my late Father went totally beserk and stated that NO GERMAN CAR WAS GOING TO SET FOOT on our property. So that wen by the wayside , so ended up buying a British Austin A105/5 Westminster which I have and has been totally restored to its original condition with a floor mounted gear lever and not on the steering column

You are most welcome. My father was so anti German back then and I think many people were anti German due to the Holocast. Timed have changed since then. That Merc was a very nice car and still see them at classic car days

That is a shame; of course it was a sign of the times, some had that same attitude towards Japanese cars due to the barbaric actions of their soldiers. In the end we are all sharing planet earth and being respectful of one another is the way forward. How dare the ruling class play with our lives for greed and profit.
I am in Australia and would love to buy a diesel version of this vehicle. I would love it like one of my children. These WILL skyrocket in price as soon as people realise that these are EMP proof. Diesel CAN be made if you have the land, time and ability.
      I believe these are invaluable.
The investment side is just a bonus.
      What a pleasure to drive.
My S350 LWB is also a sweet car even though the engine and gearbox had design faults in 2004. The soft air suspension is priceless in my opinion due to Australian poor quality roads. They are slowly improving, mainly in the coastal areas.

First thing i thought, thought it might've been fuel injected and just sound funny, but at the end I saw the carb.

    • @Sha-yw6fb
      @Sha-yw6fb 3 года назад

yes it only needs a valve tappet adjustment according to specifications...and it will run good with more power and better fuel consumption...all the best mate..
