Fun fact, lawn mower blades are designed to pull air upwards into the mower. The idea is that it stands the grass up for a better cut. If you flipped the blade over, would it create a noticeable amount of lift? It would probably be a little worse at cutting grass, but it'd be interesting. Maybe you could try 3D printing your own blade to reduce some weight too.
Flipping the blade wouldn't do anything as it'll have the same twist direction, However with another blade that acted as a pusher it'd disturb the center of lift.... probably, still worth a try, Call it the "F35 F".
@@themacbookgamer a spinning mass resists rotation in its other axis, which the plane was trying to roll and pitch. Im not sure im using the correct words but from what i understand it has to change how the plane would fly.

If you can handle the weight, making pigs fly is easy, the challenge is how do you do it in a way that doesn't look like cheating. Afterall, cattle are often transported by air travel.

The cutout in the leading edge of the wing centre section is creating significant drag, and also disrupting airflow over the tail boom (reduced elevator authority). Try putting a simple fairing over the cutout to match the rest of the wing leading edge. Apart from reducing drag, it will result in cleaner laminar airflow over the wing. Have fun, and thanks for your content.
Golden Wings RC model airplane club Belgium Bruges Damme had a flying lawnmower beginning of the 80’s. It was presented on airshows. @petersripol - I challenge you to make a helicopter like device that can safely lower a 180lb human from a skyscraper that's on fire. The device can also employ inflatable wings or a parachute to aid in increased drag. The idea is to have a backpack like device that a person can use to descend from lower heights where a parachute wouldn't be ideal but could also be used from taller heights too.
I feel as though the failure at 12 minutes was due to the rotation of the lawn blade. That kind of heavy object rotating at the center of gravity of a plane is bound to have some effect. Similar to a helicopter tail rotor. Or the ground resonance from a helicopter blade. They affect the gravity of the vehicle. Notice it is listing to the left before the blades stared. Then lists to the right when it is running, then stalls when he turns left (w blade running) There is a lot of inertia from the blade taking part in the flight logistics. Fun video. ❤
man, i remember WAY back, the sketch where they pretended they had to trim a spot on the grass runway, only to "trip and fall" as the "lawnmower" went flying away... ☺
Now that you've made a Lawn-Cutting Flying Lawn Mower, here's an idea: How about a Lawn Mower that flies similar to how a Gyrocotper flies. Swap the Lawn Mower blade with a downward-facing prop for lift. Probably will change where the center of the wing ends up, but could also shrink the need for wing length. Just an idea. good job, here, bud!
good, LORD that thing is a lead sled! It got airborne only on a wing and a prayer. BUT handled okay once you got it up there. The third motor was a nice idea.
A flying hedge trimmer? Man, where was that when I needed it! Really though, hedge trimmer drone sounds kind of useful. Insanely hard to engineer (perhaps even impossible), but quite useful.
I had the original FlyingThingz lawn mower kit. They also had race cars, tanks and a witch. Their planes really flew like complete crap even for the 1990’s standards. They were nitro obviously but it was a combination of weight and coroplast material that made them unstable. They weren’t easy to build either. Their center structure was over engineered and heavy laser cut plywood.
After seeing this.. now I need a "lawnmower helicopter drone!" Maybe make drone blades cut? And dream request: The jet/ plane/ glider from Nausicaa (pilot NOT required)

It would spin the same way, also you would have to put a hole in the top of the mower so air can be pulled through
That’s what I thought!
the effect is negligible as there is no vacuum against the ground
Then, it wouldn't be a LAWNMOWER then huh, since it wouldn't effectively cut the grass
Take 4 lawnmowers, swap the blades for propellers and strap them together to make a terrifying quadcopter. Do some high octane hedge trimming.
Did having the blade running induce some yaw?
No noticeable effects!
As long as it's not accelerating or decelerating while in flight it shouldn't affect yaw
@@themacbookgamer should result in some pitch/roll coupling like any spinning mass in the yaw plane would.

It's groundskeeping.
How about a flying patch of grass, that can be mowed in midair by the flying lawnmower? 🤔
I like your way of thinking, Mister Tourneaux 🌈
i like this
