As I understand it, in 1939 Solomon Linda recorded the African song Mbube (Zulu for lion) which became Wimoweh. In 1961 G. D. Weiss added additional lyrics for the Tokens which became a number 1 hit in the U. S. Since then both the original and the Token's version have become iconic and covered by multiple artists from Miriam Makeba, Glenn Campbell, Ladysmith Black Mambazo with the Mint Juleps, the Kingston Trio, Anne Reburn, and now Family Squad. This version stands with the best of them. Each member of the "Family..." not only holds their own, but as the song progresses and more voices are added, the blend is marvelous, and I would be remiss if I didn't compliment the whistling and the soprano's lyrical cry in the background. Well done, very well done indeed...
