- Filmed in Cape Town, South Africa, the Cinemax drama series, "Warrior," is based on writings of martial arts legend Bruce Lee, and created and executive produced by Jonathan Tropper, Justin Lin and Shannon Lee. It is a gritty, action-packed crime drama that follows Ah Sahm, a martial arts prodigy who emigrates from China to San Francisco under mysterious circumstances and becomes a hatchet man for one of Chinatown’s most powerful tongs (Chinese organized crime family).

Just finished it yesterday. This is criminally underrated series! And glad that it introduced me to all these great actors and actresses.
Wow. Been a big fan of Bruce Lee. Been to his gravesite. Now it’s great to finally see one of Bruce Lee’s vision finally realized in 2019. Bruce did not lived long enough to give us more movies or even tell his side of his story. Thanks to his daughter for keeping his legend alive
His daughter is not bringing his vision forward. She lived in China and is here to hate in USA and exploit us.
Finally a full fledged Asian Cast taking the center stage which is so amazing. The actor playing the lead is perfect. Also Dustin Nguyen returning to the screen is amazing. Loved his performance in 21 Jump street show. Another actor I noticed in the trailer was Joe Taslim who I remember from Star Trek Beyond and Fast and Furious 6.
I'm loving this series. Joe Taslim was also in Raid: The Redemption, one of my all-time favorite action movies.

this show is so epic. Those that haven't watch it yet. Just watch the first episode and u will luv it. So underrated.

I just finished season 2. This show is very well done. The acting, writing, action, characters and story and so perfect. Im so glad Shannon found Bruces treatment. Can’t wait for season 3!

'm real excited to see Dustin Nguyen in an American show once again. He is one of the first Asian actors to cast as a main character in a US show and it's fantastic to see him in an all Asian tv show

I bet bruce lee would have been one of the most highest grossing actor of all time if he was alive today. Warrior series is amazing and best series i have ever seen after series like breaking bad, prison break, kingdom( zombie series) and dark. I binge watched it whole series in one day.
I think about all the pigeonholed entertainers that were confined within a box -- Bruce Lee because of race, Marilyn Monroe because of gender and sex appeal, Elvis because of being a blockbuster singer and his manager.
Bruce Lee would have been a blockbuster leading actor today, not just in action films, but dramas too.
What a great series. I just happened to stumble upon this on Netflix. Loved everything, cast & characters, story, history, costumes, set absolutely everything!!! And the connection to Bruce Lee legacy.

After that Game of Throne ridiculous debacle, Warrior really picked up the slack. This is a great show. I wish the episodes were an hour long and not just half an hour. Looking forward to the second season.
So this is what Tim Roth was doing before reprising the Abomination in Shang-Chi... take on a stage name Jonathan Tropper & made the Warrior. ;-) Joking aside, great job to everyone for bringing Bruce Lee's vision into reality, I finally watch this show, I love it! To Shannon Lee and the entire crew, the series is excellent and it is probably better that it is done this decade since the talent pool of martial artist, actors and production people is better now than it would have been say... 40 years ago ! This program is an ideal primer for people who have not yet seen the series or know this particular facet of Bruce Lee history or of the history of America and Chinese in America. I am 1/4 Chinese , 1/4 Filipino, and mixed Bulgarian / European ancestry and I appreciate the series very much. If I were to write a Filipino perspective history / series like this, It would take place during the transition years as the Spanish are defeated in the Philippines by the native tribal peoples and then to resist the Imperialism / genocidal 4 year war in the after math of the Spanish / American war. I know America does not even know the truths of this era of Imperialist America at the tive vs the freedom fighters of the tribal peoples of several major Kingdoms and Sultanates of what is now called the Philippines... although Spain only partially colonized those many islands and cultures, and in the end sold the Philippines to America rather than admit failure and defeat by native peoples of brown and black skin ( pre meztizo ) Filipinos. Here's a bit of history trivia... the 45 caliber pistol was invented to stop the fierce tribal peoples of Mindanao aka " Morros " or black tribal Pinoys :) ( That area of the Philippines had been converted to Islam hundreds of years before Spain colonized the northern islands. ) I was born and raised in Seattle, I visit the graves of Bruce and Brandon at least once a year to pay my respects and remember them both.

Anyone bring up that the lead is mix Japanese and not Chinese or Chinese mix. I'm sure he is a fine actor but considering this is a movie from Bruce Lee focusing mainly on the Chinese struggle perhaps it could of been a Chinese lead. I am just creating conversation. Don't troll or dumb comments.

One of the main cast is Indonesian. More so noticable because when the characters are speaking Chinese via English, Joe's English isn't the same as everyone elses. But who cares, he's grade-a Badass.
