This hearing is a joke, we know illegals sometimes known as seasonal workers, or migrant workers are practically irreplaceable. There was one State that chased them all out and the farmers had to hire local (BLACK) workers to harvest the crops and pay them more, they weren't willing or capable of working the long hours the Mexicans did, and they damaged a good portion of the crop. The Farmers were losing money, and local Hispanic mom&pop shops were going out of business. Closing the borders as they are now is a must but you have to leave the migrant workers alone, they come here when they are needed, they make a few dollars, and go home on their own

Pay a real living wage to American workers to do such jobs and workers will come. But then these agro businesses will turn around and pass the wage increase to the consumers. And the flow of money to the super PACs that fund the campaigns of the senators will stop. So of course legalizing illegal immigrants who work almost like indentured servants overnight is the answer.
When Lady G speaks passionately on something, you can count on her voting against it or being absent.

I have an 💡. Maybe try paying Americans a fair and liveable wage. Probably throw in some Health Insurance and affordable housing. Start with College Students, Veterans and released Convicts for non violent crimes like shoplifting etc. Provide Farmers with additional subsidies and tax exemptions for participating in these programs. Instead of housings illegals, that same housing goes for these newly classified Labor Agricultural Specalists at the Government expense. No longer considered as farm hands. If you want to really stop illegal immigration which is actually economic migration, you can!!!

Not ALL prisoners work. The privileged ones get to work. Those that don’t care to earn commissary don’t. We have plenty of prisoners, and those in our jails that sit and eat our tax dollars. Mr. Graham is insinuating that we don’t have any other resources if we don’t work with the immigrants and that’s just not true.

At least half of the jobs can be automated, which, aside from the initial investment, is a cheaper and more reliable method of farming that should result in lower costs at the store.
Or we could give low-risk prisoners the option of doing a work release program where they are transported by bus to the fields where they put in an 8 or 10 hour day at wages equal to what non-incarcerated farm workers make, and their income is either set aside in an interest-bearing account and paid out upon their release from custody (maybe with restrictions on how it can be spent, maybe not), paid into an account accessible to the prisoner's dependent family members, paid into commissary, or some combination of these.
Why don’t we do something about people over seeing their visas? That’s the biggest issue.
They wont leave. They are not united because they cant afford to leave. They will die of hunger.
1) International (incl for all U.N. Nation-State members) and U.S. National laws require that assylum seekers' have minimum humanitarian needs met.
2) Until we change our laws, we must comply.
3) We (U.S. taxpayers) had a break during Covid, and catching up on backlog of immigrants doesn't increase overall amount of tax burden as much as it temporarily appears when averaged out.
4) The people who were screened at our border met criteria for legal entry, and are not to be counted as illegal immigrants. They have documentation, and delays in determining final status of immigrants' applications for citizenship are due to inadequate staffing by our Gov't (processors, legal representation, immigration court facilities and Judges, translators, Etc.).
Although I voted indirectly for VP Harris, and had high hopes re her performance, I now hope Biden will choose a different running mate for 2024 due to what I believe is Harris' inexplicable preparation for this surge of migrants, substantial changes to support (with technology, access, guards, and processing of entrants, Etc.) more effective guarding of the MANY points of entry (land, sea, and air) into our country (among other failings, such as informing the public about what work she is doing and all accomplishments, since i've not seen reason to believe she's "president material" and Biden's age demands that his 2024 VP IS)!
Give all of them work permits. Collect taxes and gradually phase them into the system.

I'm just kind of curious if they think $23 an hour would be and big enough number to have a living wage what do you think the cost of food and living would increase at $23 an hour for every damn American citizen that would make $23 an hour so that $23 that you're making an hour would still probably give you a profit of $8 an hour because the rest of it would be basically in taxes and food and gas and water and lights and everything else for the cost of living and I don't even think it would leave you $8 out of 1 hour of work to pay for any damn thing that would be affordable living at $23 an hour because everything would have to increase I mean everything

Legal American citizens don't claim to be better we just want our border protected and only vetted legal immigrants. We aren't interested in supporting unvetted illegals and shouldn't be expected to.
