The thing is, this is a very natural position. even if black doesnt make one of these moves, you still developed a fairly decent opening. this is probably one of the most natural traps ive seen, great job 👏 👍
For everyone saying this would never happen in a real game, this is a textbook italian game position. The only variation comes at Nc3 at which point it’s very common for black to try to pin the knight on f3. If your opponent tries to keep the pin with bishop after h3 (which is not a bad idea) then you can go for the setup. I’m not entirely sure but I’m pretty sure it’s black’s best option to just take the knight on e5 and lose their bishop, correct me if I’m wrong.
For anyone wondering why you kick the bishop first with h3, notice that otherwise after knight takes on e5 black can just take the knight with the knight and be up a piece, as the black knight would then guard the bishop on g4: 1 e4 e5 2 Nf3 Nc6 3 Bc4 d6 4 Nc3 Bg4 5 Nxe5 Nxe5
To everyone asking why h3: h3 is highly recommended because black does not need to fall for the trap and can take the knight on e5 with their knight on c6 and that capture also protects the light square bishop. With h3, the light square bishop is no longer able to be protected by the c6 knight so it is safe to capture e5. In short, White would just be losing and down material without h3.
But sir, what would you do if after white knight takes pawn on e5, black knight takes e5? the white simply does not have any good move, to respond, with... white loses a knight in exchange for a pawn... therefore it doesn't seem worth it to try this out
Michael Seneschal bro read my comment. THEY JUST CAN TAKE KNIGHT ON E5 AND YOU CANNOT RECAPTURE THE BISHOP AS IT IS PROTECTED BY THE KNIGHT. YOU ARE DOWN MATERIAL. h3 PUSHES THE BISHOP BACK SO THE KNIGHT CANNOT PROTECT IT IF IT WERE TO CAPTURE e5

Yep thats wat I thought
If knight captures knight without the bishop having moved back, then black knight still defends bishop
Exactly
"Put bishop on C4"
Bishop: *chuckles im in danger.
To everyone asking why h3:
