    I bought my first ukulele for $30 from Amazon. It was a Enya. I still have it. Love it. That’s why I’m so glad you review these cheaper ukuleles. It was because of your review that I bought it. ( and a killer deal). Family first ! I’ll be waiting for the next video. Stay safe.

      I bought the $50 version-it has Aquila strings, closed tuning pegs and once I switched the saddle to bone sounds great.

    I know I’ve said this before but my first ukulele was a cheap £20 model. However it did lead me to much better instruments and I’ve been playing for nearly 10 years. Every now and then I get it out to remind myself how bad it was. Great review Barry. Keep up the good work. 👍

    Nice review. Love your honesty; at the end of the day, that’s what it’s all about. Not gonna be added to my huge (3-uke) collecion, sadly. Or happily, depending upon your perspective. :)
    Take care of family!!! See ya.

    Bought this exact one as a beginner Uke and I've been having a lot of fun with it. I've been getting really into playing and after just 2 weeks, I feel like investing in a more expensive one. Kinda wish I'd have held out and saved a bit more but hey ho, I don't regret it so that's something. The sound actually improves over time of daily tuning.. it definitely ain't bad for a beginner. Thanks for the informative video, will be sure to check out your other reviews to decide on what Ukulele to buy next!

    my first uke many years ago was an Octopus soprano for £19 now after owning and playing much more expensive ukes was surprised to find it stood up to and often outshone some of these would highly recommend them as good starter uke

    I suspect tiebar saddles are the cheapest to manufacture and install. That logo looks lopsided to the left; it would drive me nuts.

    A five star review of a one half star uke. I might give one to a small child as a toy, but I would string it up with the real Aquila colored strings first. Letting a kid play it out of tune would drive me bug nuts.
    I avoid amazon, but a lot of people shop it first for everything.

    Even in just the few years I’ve been playing I’ve seen a massive increase in quality of cheap ukes. The flight travel has issues but the neck is conofortable and it sounds half decent. I just bought a cheap beaver creek soprano and it’s actually got a nicer neck than the more expensive Kala ka- S. Best wishes from Canada

    • @GotAUkulele

    I hope that the family problems that you referred to are not solely because this is what they bought you for Christmas :-) although, seriously, I hope that things improve for you soon. Although we'd miss you, maybe you could ration us to once a fortnight, or maybe, we might let you have the first, or the last week of every month off, if that would help.
    On the subject of the uke - this is the problem at this end of the market - this one might be sort of OK, but, if you got ten of them, would "sort of OK" be the norm, or the best of the bunch? (I suspect the latter).
    I was lucky to hit on the on the Flight Travel Uke when I started, although I'm sure that the other brands that you mentioned are worthy of consideration. I've said before but, the only bad thing about getting a Flight Travel Uke to begin with (I think it cost about £35 at the time) was that it led me to think that, if I could get a uke this good for that price, if I payed twice as much I'd end up with something truly spectacular. As a consequence of this, I spent most of my first year on planet uke buying pretty bad instruments from Amazon and sending them back the next day. There are some very good ukes on Amazon, but it's a lottery with only a few winning tickets. The other problem is that, a lot of first time players aren't going to know about stuff like intonation and action and they may not be able to pick up on build issues that will cause problems in the long run, so, if they end up getting something that sounds terrible and feels uncomfortable to play they aren't going to realise that it's the uke and not them that's causing the problem.

    • @GotAUkulele
      @GotAUkulele  3 года назад

      Agreed! Best to avoid Amazon altogether is my advice - support specialist uke shops!

    • @GotAUkulele
