Nice lure. Two tips. Use a normal drill bit not a carbide masonry drill bit, works better and smoother. And put the drill chuck in the tail fixture and use the feed to drill the hole, that way the drill runs true and you dont have to hold the lure, works like a horizontal drill press. Good Luck
Totally agree! I'm a machinist and when I saw how he was doing it- I just cringed. It is a DIY project but please if you are teaching someone out there it is best to have some safe practices.
Do it how you want..
PAPAPIG15 so rude
Yes, rotating the work piece from one end and drilling with the stationary bit in the other would be optimal, but he would need a jaw chuck to do that. The lathe he is using only comes with a drive spur, so he didn't have that option.
Thank you, I never drilled at low speed before, I find it works a lit better! Your tutorials are a great help! I'll be asking more questions on your other videos if you don't mind. Thanks again!
One of the best and most informative how to lure videos I've seen JL. Great work bro.

Just so you know that's a masonry drill bit, if you get a wood bit it will drill much better. Great video!
Yes you are correct. I was using it because if the length.
Just subscribed awesome lures
Great job brotha!!!!
Wow !! PAPAPIG15 what an awesome job you did. Keep it up. After watching all your series, my question is what size eyes, hooks, belly weights and swivels do you use? Thank You
nice work!!!
what kind of wood you use and the eyes where they sell them or what are they thanks
I use Alaskan yellow cedar. The eyes I buy at hobby lobby
Can you give a list of materials and sizes of those materials? Starting to build my first ones.
Great job . Well demonstrated. Can you tell me where you get your Alaskan fir? It is hard to find
Thanks. Bob
Nice lures ! You have a lot of awesome Videos.
xxxmirekxxx1 thank you.
PAPAPIG15 You are welcome.
I am making today a top water - jerk bait for my friend, who lives in Florida.
What drill bits do you use for the eyes.
nice video, whats the dimension of the cedar before turning
Sub No:162 & Like No:24 Great Work, Well Done!
Great job. What size drill bit are you using?
Nice man!
I worked in a production shop and if you make a profile template, it will save you alot of time measuring.
Lol, I don't have a lathe. but I can convert my drill press in one!
Hey man awesome videos taught me a lot you know gage of wire your using?
Awesome videos man !!!Where do you get the hardware for the lures? (Wire, grommets, etc) thanks for sharing
What do you use for wood. Awesome video. I just got the same lathe!
Amazing work. I love your videos. So were so you get your grommets? Keep them coming. Thanks Peter
All hardware I get from NJtackle.com
I was wondering what the diff is when you run the wire through? Does it make it stronger? I’ve seen people just screw in the ends and the belly ring for hooks and was wondering if it’s just preference but looks like it takes a lot longer running wire great work by the way.
B halbert thanks ! Wore through construction is just stronger. It will hold up better with big fish. You don’t have to worry about eyes being pulled out . Both ways are good. Just depends on what kind of fish your targeting.
Where to you recommend getting the cedar blanks from?
Awesome video.
Where do you get the eyes from? They look great and I would like to purchase
Thanks a lot
I get them from hobby lobby.
Great lures, man. Got a question. Do you do any custom work or special requests? If I sent you some dimensions and a picture could you make me a special one? I'll pay extra.
Good job bro
Where can I get all the hardware and eyes for it
Starting to make my owns
Hardware I get from njtackle.com
Eyes I buy from hobby lobby.
Thanks a lot, already did my order
As an advice, what kind of wood do you use,
I used aslakan yellow cedar
I'm a Brit in the UK where tools cost about 1/3 more than in the States so buying a lathe to make a few lures is out of the question.
I bought one off Gumtree for £30. I've had good results using Baltic Pine.
Richard Lewis spoke shave
What do you charge for your baits?
Qué número de broca husa Saludos México
thats a masonary bit for concrete & block
Yes it is. I was using it because it was the only 6" bit I could find in this size. Still cut yellow cedar no problem
What size was the blank when you started turning? 2x2?
Jason kang yes 2x2
Where is a good source for those belly grommets?
Someone may have suggested this already.....be more careful with your tools. Allowing them to clang against the others or metal takes the fine cutting edge off.
what wood did you use?
ณัตฒิธร โอวรารินท์ Alaskan yellow cedar
Thank you.
Nice lure and awesome Videos.
using that skew like a scraper is dreadful otherwise putting it together well
Skew?
When the wood starts a smoking it’s time to sharpen
Asked this guy to buy one but he doesn't make them no mo.
Cool Lure ! I also make lures on My channel !
care u hand... minute 19.28
Yeah the masonry bit is odd......lol
borednin847 yes I don't use that anymore. The only reason I used it was because it was 6" long. I couldn't find a wood drill bit thay long in the size I needed
great job but the barking dog is annoying
YES HE IS ANNOYING, LOL THANKS
what type of wood did u use ?
Jeremy Miller Alaskan yellow cedar
What else would work I'm not able to get my hands on that
you can use popular wood. you can get round dowels at home depot. you just have to make sure you seal it really good.
What should I seal it with
