      Since ancient times (and maybe even before), all generations think, that the following generations aren't as "good" as they were. A lot of people even wrote about it, for thousands of years now. An still, we're all relatively the same.
      That being said, I too doubt the younger generation sometimes (I'm only a human after all xD) and people like him in the video show me, beautifully, that I'm wrong. As all the generations before me have been. ^^

      @keres666 2 года назад

      FTB has always been considered by one of their better songs AFAIK... The real breakdown with their older fans came when they made a video for One, Kind of sold out with the black album (by making that more cookie cutter and sound better to radio execs) and cut their hair, went Emo and started to wear eyeshadow and nail polish with Load whatever that was...

    • @redrick8900
      @redrick8900 2 года назад

      @@keres666 That's absurd. Metallica never sold out. They made the music they wanted to make. It's absurd that people think a band that infuriates their most obnoxious fans with every other album is selling out.
      Good musicians don't make the same album over and over. All the great ones change their sound over time. Pink Floyd and the Beatles had the same reaction.

    • @keres666
      @keres666 2 года назад

      @@redrick8900 I mean sold out or not that was the general feeling their older fans had... And the Black Album undoubtedly feels and sounds a lot more commercially friendly, like it or not it came off as selling out... if they did or not is irrelevant, that was the feeling.
      Fade To Black wasn't a controversial thing, they always have a song that brings the whole thing down a bit tempo-wise and it comes out awesome, It's like saying Welcome Home (Sanitarium) was slower so people got mad... no... Thats not why people got mad at Metallica.
      The first real thing they did that pissed fans off was the One video (which IMO is FINE, It was good, as a kid thats the song that got me into metal as a whole and I was 4 years old) but the black album definitely shifted things towards playing on the radio more and that pissed off their most hardcore fans.

    So glad to see a young guy finding joy in these older rock & metal bands from my younger days. There was a reason why a lot of us kept listening on Walkmans and such.
    I'd love to see your reaction to Metallica's "One". Especially from their video, and if you look into the meaning behind it, and how they put into words the abject helplessness of being trapped in a body that cannot communicate their pain.

    The composition was written to draw listeners in right out the gate. Setting the tone for the story. The intro music melodic, tender sharp striking the right chord and tapping into the emotional frequency. That skill makes for great storytelling.
    The song is about heroin addiction. Black was a name used for heroin. I don't know if people still call it that today. If you listen to the lyrics carefully the song isn't glorifying the drug. But rather taking a look at the dark path that few return from.
    The lyrics are saying to listeners. Hey look at me you could end up like me. Man I'm so far in I can't get out. At that time the music had been built up with emotion. Explodes into transition filled with raw shredded anger and frustration.
    Heroin is an evil drug that alters your mind into believing a false reality of hopelessness and despair. Choice one is rare but it does happen and that is:
    1. commit suicide and get it over with because life is too painful to live.
    or
    2. ?
    Hence, Fade To Black.
    I think it's a great message to stay away from evil, (Black/heroin).

    Since, I been checkin out your video's, I been noticing certain thing's, that you are really into. So, I suggest you check out their song "One" and let me just say, that it may start out a bit slow, but you better have that seatbelt strapped on, or you ain't gonna handle the drum solo in the middle of the song, that last's for several minute's, until almost the end of the song! And, it's written about an old war story novel, that they bought the right's to, so they could put the clip's into the video of the song. And, they go off of the book, instead of the movie, that was written, several year's after the book came out. So, to clear a few thing's up on it, it has to do with a war veteran, that had a mortar shell launched into the hole he was in, with his platoon, as he was the only one who survived, but lost all 4 of his limb's, as well as his speech and hearing abilities, from the blast. So, since he seemed like a corpse to the doctor's and etc, they presumed he couldn't feel anything, as well as he was supposed to be in a coma, but he woke up from the coma. Whereas, in the movie, it show's a rocket being shot into the hole and exploding, which wasn't in the book. And, the lyric's go off of what the guy is feeling in his own mind, as the story revolved around him. So, there is meaning behind the lyric's in the song, pertaining to the story itself and how a person in his situation is actually feeling. And, the drum solo, play's a part in how it sound's, as well, with the story itself. So, you should definitely do a reaction to their song "One"!

    Metallica are the forerunners of Thrash Metal. This song in particular was hugely controversial when it first came out. It's about how it feels to lose all hope and seeing suicide as the only option left to him. This song alone saved so many lives because suddenly people who felt so lost and alone realized they are not alone, that someone does understand what they are feeling and going through. The singer and guitarist is James Hetfield, the lead guitarist is Kirk Hammett, the drummer is Lars Ulrich, and the bassist for their first three albums (Kill 'Em All, Ride the Lightning, and Master of Puppets) was Cliff Burton. Cliff was tragically killed in a bus accident while on tour in Northern Europe in late 1986 and Jason Newsted took his place, staying with the band through several albums (...And Justice For All, Metallica (aka the black album, or as James Hetfield called it, "None More Black"), Load, Reload, and S&M (Symphony and Metallica). Robert Trujillo then took over as bassist after Jason left, beginning with Saint Anger and is still with Metallica to this day.

    And...cue the tears. Within a few days after The Station Fire in Warwick, Rhode Island, February 20, 2003, WHJY in Providence started airing their dj's, Doctor Metal, last recording regarding Metallica's upcoming June release, "St. Anger", and how he didn't know if he'd be around for it, because of his disappointment with it. "Fade to Black" was his background music for his review, and I have since had a pre Station Fire view of it, and a post fire view, which dominates. The first survivor I saw interviewed on the news, because of my insomnia, was someone I met in The Channel bathroom, in Boston, at an L.A. Guns show. I was relieved to see she was okay, but there were others that I had shared space with who didn't make it, including Doctor Metal, Mike Gonsalves. Nowadays, there are sooo many different ways to find your choice in music, but it was far different back in the 80s, and you had to do your homework...without internet. Even at that, a 10,000-15,000 seat show could sell out in 10 minutes! You had to be savvy, and understand how the system worked, but I still missed out on shows I was dying to see. All that being said, Doctor Metal's fellow djs were haunted by his foreshadowing of his own death, as were his fans. I will never hear this song the same way again, but am happy to hear your thoughts on it. And I'm happy that hip hop artists are inspired to sample metal songs. 🤘💙

    Back when this album was written and released, the band members were as follows. James Hetfield on lead vocals, and rythm guitar, Lars Ulrich on drums, Cliff Burton on base guitar, and Kirk Hammett on lead guitar. Kirk is the second lead guitarist that the band had, and he is still playing with them to this day. I'm not sure of the years, but at one point he was rated the best guitarist in the world for 4 years in a row. Metallica has had 4 bassists, but James and Lars are the only two band members that are the original members of the group still with the band.

      Who rated him as the best guitarist in the world please? Every poll usually puts Hendrix at the top with Jimmy Page,Eric Clapton, David Gilmour, Jeff Beck ,Eddie Van Halen etc etc right up there but in different orders depending on the poll with rolling stone putting Kirk at number 11. I'm not saying he's not one of the best I'm just saying I've never seen him ranked at number 1
      Was it rating the best metal guitarist's only ?

Content like this has saved lives giving angst ridden teens an outlet for well over 30 years. to hear and see still today young people discovering it brings a crooked grin to my fac.
