Kurt thanks for the video I was starting to get bored due to this winter storm gots me at home and all I'm doing is spending money on my rent houses replacing furnaces and tire so that my tenants can stay warm and my wife needed new tires so far that's it other than I got to go get some straw for the pets houses and some new heat lamps so until the next one be careful and stay safe out there on the highway and WARM
I love places like starting 5:07 I'll probably never get to see myself in person and they're tucked away towns that are all of us in some way, no matter where we come from
Some people just won't slow down in Fog 🌥 Snow 🌨 Ice ❄ or bad. weather . I was hit head on up on Jellico Mtn New Yrs Eve 98/99 buy teenagers that was running a hundred miles an hour in snow ice and fog. Trooper clocked them at over 💯mph when they left the highway and then Flew Over the cop car and then I was at 15 miles an hour on impact that was at 87.6. bedridden for a year. Lesson always watch out for the unexpected
Stay safe and I hope this colder weather is not to hard on Opie. My grandfather had a German dog named Shep, I remember colder weather was hard on him. Stay safe and hello to Uber Dad and race car driver mom. Enjoy the new year.
Them old Caterpillars need a belly tarp from the crossmember under the radiator to the bellhousing in order to stay warm. Wrap it from frame rail to frame rail and it keeps the wind from blowing up from the bottom.
@TruckingWithSchmidt thanks for the video. I just subscribed. My bf is a trucker and he’s in Nebraska tonight. He said I saw a sign where it said the highway was closed. He said it wasn’t. It was I80. I think it was several days ago when they closed the highway to empty’s and tandems. Anyways, he’s at a rest stop for the night. Love your dog. Stay safe out there.
Back in the 80’s I worked for a food distributor out of suburban Chicago. Every Thursday night 2 / 4 trucks went to Spartan foods warehouse in Grand Rapids Michigan. Nobody wanted to go there you take 94 to 196 that runs along lake Michigan. In spring bad fog fall bad fog and freezing rain. Winter was the worst so much lake effect snow . This was a dark highway only one rest area . I remember so many times we pulled off fog was so bad . Freezing rain and so much lake effect snow . This was one miserable highway.
Talkin about the trucks driving fast in less than ideal conditions brought back a memory from quite a few years ago. I was heading east on I-90 in Washington, heading to Spokane. It was night time and there was a lot of snow and ice. I was loaded and running 35-40. I heard some guys on the CB talking about a large car heading East that was flyin. Pretty soon I saw all of the lights coming up behind me and then he passed me. He was probably running 65-70 and I couldn't see anything after he went by me. I told him what I thought about his driving and his comment was, you drive yours and I'll drive mine. Well, we didn't get far down the road and all I saw was a huge cloud of snow, and all of the pretty lights disappeared. Super trucker lost control of his wagon and went into the median between east and west I-90. Fortunately he didn't take anyone else out.
Yesterday there was a truck vs. car accident on I 57 southbound 29 north of Effingham IL. Car was smashed flat from the rear bumper to just behind the driver's seat. The truck and trailer were on it's side. Road was closed for about 2 1/2 hours but the conditions were clear, accidents just seem to happen sometimes.
can always tell who owns (and has to pay the repair bills) his own truck by how he glides through the gears w/o ever hitting the governor. fun to watch your vids. this is dave, not becki btw..
On the railroad we have a rule that basically states that you must stop within 1/2 your range of vision not exceeding 20mph. I can guarantee you that those trucks passing you would not be able to stop within their full range of vision let alone 1/2.
Love the videos but I got a question for you instead of turning the radio off why don’t you turn the RF gain down so you won’t have to hear the noise from far away ( spider box) and you can still hear if the road has problems a mile ahead. Please keep the videos coming and stay safe
Speed is a factor in pileups, but I also feel that too many truckers have no radio or have turned them off. Radios are a safety tool... you rarely heard about huge pileups back when drivers used radios.
Boy, I tell ya, the other day, I had to go but knew I wasn't gonna make it to the truck stop so I had to drop a pile on an entrance ramp. Thankfully, it was night so nobody could see me wiping my butt. It's all good. 😜
Riding my 750 Honda through a wooded area in a lite fog that was about fender high, I didn't see the dip sign till all the sudden it was like I was underwater
Hi Kurt & Opie...That one place could be an art workshop? I'd put Hazard lights on for the fog. Aww , Opie the sleeping beauty , btw are him & Jax "King" Germans ? When I stop for a bathroom break with hand dryers I tend to use my shirt because germs are there 😮. Then gloves back on...Take Care Prayers ✌️❤️ to all. Just finished making Swedish meatballs with noodles , time to eat. Had to shovel my part of the driveway to get "Black Beauty" out. Blessings to all Ogden Iowa Pam
Kurt, first, thank you. I like the way you look at life you're very "chill' like the kids say 😂. I've been watching for a long time. Is there any possibility of including the starting city/ area and your destination in the description or pinned comment. Thanks
I was just in Kansas and mo and there was like 10 inches out on 36 and 35 people need to slow down some there was accidents every were truck's and car's rolling 80 mph the roads were covered with snow and ice crazy people
Enjoying your videos. You have mentioned several times about your eyes burning. Have you considered eye drops for dry eyes? My husband had to use eye drops. Just a suggestion. Take care!
One morning I was driving through iowa and there was very very heavy fog that took me an hour to get through. was so scary. why wasn't there some kind of warning
Sorry that I have not been commenting. My husband gets up @ 3am to go to work, so he goes to bed earlier than your videos.. anyway we will catch back up soon… I will write more after I watch it..🫢😬
The cold water in the rest area bath rooms well that is too perk you up before going back to driving. Too many drivers of small vehicles and heavy trucks just don't allow them selves enough following distance. Following distance is the best insurance for avoiding a pile up. Especially where you will run into the vehicle that you are following.
You know Kurt, you have more nerve than I do driving in the part of the country that will freeze your butt off quickly. I would have to have an APU on the side of the truck. Never know when you might get stranded in the middle of nowhere. How or cold weather.
A lot of drivers overdrive their field of vision. Kurt what becomes of 42,000 lbs of hog livers? Also last week you had pigs ears. What happens to those?
Hello Kurt, I know and understand that you never post your videos near today’s date but would it be possible for you to say the date of recording. I have a few friends who travel these similar highways including myself when I’m healthy. Thank you! Be safe Kurt. Say hello to your beautiful family and mom and super paramedic Uber Dad.
Opie said , "But Dad it was a good shot. I hit the bullseye", 🤣 🤣 🤣
Funny how you used the word "kosher" to describe a load of pork livers. Just something that caught my attention. 😀
Ya this cold weather gets pretty spendy. Hope it all gets better for ya.
Thank you for the video. Mick

Be careful Brother ....🇺🇲
Opie is a good boy too 🥰
You and Opie stay safe.

Them old Caterpillars need a belly tarp from the crossmember under the radiator to the bellhousing in order to stay warm. Wrap it from frame rail to frame rail and it keeps the wind from blowing up from the bottom.
He did see the palm trees and he showed his palm tree tattoo.

I'll take fog over what we have now any day. That frost was sure pretty. Thanks for sharing the scenery. Stay warm. God bless.
Always like the night time rides Kurt! Keep on truckin!
👍👍💯🇺🇸
Bubba it's snowing here in Ft. Worth right now, and it is 14°F!...🌨️❄️🥶🥶🥶
I miss going to Laredo that city is always fun to truck
They seem to be more often and happening regularly in winter than years ago. More trucks, more automatics, more bad drivers. Be safe!
Automatic has nothing to do with it it's this bad drivers that can't drive in the snow and fog
Kurt did Opie say "hey dad check it out liftin my leg"😅
Kurt we are negative 9 degrees down here in Topeka Kansas
All hail to king opine
.. it's gonna be a bright, bright sun shiny day 🎵🎶

Take care of yourselves won't you Kurt and Opie
Hey I just got to comment about how awesome your Beard is looking on these latest videos ... I really enjoy you vlogs 🤗 keep up your great work 👍
You should have asked Santa for a Webasto cab heater....😆
@Trucking-With-Schmidt01: No problem but I have no idea how to use Telegram.
Sporting that smooth side. That trailer screams for some graphics.

I was fortunate enough to catch your live stream few days ago.. Never done that. Was kinda fun. Look forward to doing it again.

Enjoying your videos. You have mentioned several times about your eyes burning. Have you considered eye drops for dry eyes? My husband had to use eye drops. Just a suggestion. Take care!
It would be interesting if you would tell us at the start of the videos what the date and day is that would be nice.
One morning I was driving through iowa and there was very very heavy fog that took me an hour to get through. was so scary. why wasn't there some kind of warning
I can handle the rain in the night pretty well. But the fog totally sucks.
good content buddy

I truly believe I could do ten over the speed limit and someone would still try and pass me everybody is always in a hurry to go nowhere lol.
Pork liver is not kosher😅
You said you were hauling pork liver and everything looked kosher!
I don't like getting notifications I can't watch because I'm not a member.
To hose visor mirrors are a nice to ouch and i bet they're not go or show!!!
I used to say. Drive like hell. You'll get there quicker. Fog and freezing rain are my enemy. I'd rather drive through a blizzard.
I bet Oppie laid down a fat Mcdeuce after that one.
Hammer down keep trucking rest later

@Trucking-With-Schmidt01 OK on the discussion. Which platform would you prefer for our discussion?
Great video again, is the cab warmer since you filled blocked the air holes

Do the short runs pay better ?
@15:21 had to chuckle when you said 42,000lbs of pork liver and everything looked kosher... I'm pretty sure that wasn't intentional right?
@Trucking-With-Schmidt01 just tell me where to send the apple gift cards so i can claim my prize.
Have you ever been to Evil Canevil into in topeka kansas
I've got the answer to having Opie come off the bed. Feed him with your left hand.
I may be wrong??! But Ive yet to see a car hauler thats not a peterbilt? Is there any such animal?
Oh yes if the speed limit is 60 you must drive 70 and if it's 70 you must drive 80 just the rules of the road
There are bots in the comments .
can you do a video with tips for drivers with pets im getting a puppy when i go home Friday and would love to get some tips from you
