Such a cool process. To bad a guy can't get the the used ties for landscaping.Asked workers about getting them before and they acted like I was a criminal, lol
when i see how they pull out and insert the wood, the soil looks pretty loose. How do they make sure every ft of the rail is straight and leveled and won't sink?
Most tie gangs will have what’s called a tamper and a regulator. A tamper grabs stone in the crib and puts it under the ties to lift them up, while a regulator will broom stone in the cribs to fill them and pull the shoulder of the track in to secure them in place so they don’t move
Very crude and basic machines for rail work, comparing with we have here in Europe. I am surprised to see that kind of basic machines in such an advanced country as USA
Bet the preventative maintenance on that machine is truly mission critical…..
This is really labor intensive in thé Netherlands we do the exact same thing with only one machine and 2 people
Those boys are swift workers!
Wonderful video
Very COOL
Vary goog !
Happy to tou !

The companies end up selling them. Usually a decent price though if you ask

Good question

This is a small railroad. The Class 1 railroads have large/extremely efficient tie replacement gangs.
Thanks for watching!
what machine is that?
ThePithposum spiker
This should be done by hand by no more than two people.
Это же НЕВОЗМОЖНО!
Oh my God! Did they really replace wood sleepers with wood sleepers??
You mean wood ties
@@jonathanlarathetrainguy7788 Right.
This is america not Europe
Sad cause railroad company I work for we do this shit mostly by hand
Missed a few. Not uncommon; people don't really care because they have the job for life.
