    This is really labor intensive in thé Netherlands we do the exact same thing with only one machine and 2 people

    Such a cool process.To bad a guy can't get the the used ties for landscaping.Asked workers about getting them before and they acted like I was a criminal,lol

      The companies end up selling them. Usually a decent price though if you ask

    when i see how they pull out and insert the wood, the soil looks pretty loose. How do they make sure every ft of the rail is straight and leveled and won't sink?

      Most tie gangs will have what’s called a tamper and a regulator. A tamper grabs stone in the crib and puts it under the ties to lift them up, while a regulator will broom stone in the cribs to fill them and pull the shoulder of the track in to secure them in place so they don’t move

    Very crude and basic machines for rail work, comparing with we have here in Europe. I am surprised to see that kind of basic machines in such an advanced country as USA

      This is a small railroad. The Class 1 railroads have large/extremely efficient tie replacement gangs.
