Fun fact: Out of 192 countries, the USA ranks number 3 in gun violence. But if we remove only five cities from the data set, (Chicago, L.A. Detroit, Tampa and Houston) just those five cities, the USA goes from number 3 all the way to number 189.
That means that most of the gun crimes in the USA are in just 5 cities. Also those 5 cities have more gun control laws than the rest of America. And they are amongst the bluest cities too.

The 2020 census says Tuscaloosa is 41% black and 47% white. 5% Latino 2%Asian. So yeah T-Town has a high black population. Also there's even a historically black college (Stillman) there too. Many University of Alabama students go take courses at Stillman and vice-versa. So get your facts straightened out. The high black crime in those big cities come from poverty and systemic R A C I S M. Tuscaloosa and the rest of the "Black Belt" region is far less segregated than a lot of the bigger cities in this country. That's something few people are willing to accept.

For context, that's 4-5 per 100k people. Chicago has a homicide rate of over 28 per 100k people.
He was wrong. The *COUNTY* of Tuscaloosa had 20 homicides in 2022. The *CITY* of Tuscaloosa had much less. They have a homicide rate of about 5. That's 5 per 100,000 people. Tuscaloosa has a population of about 100,000, so, Tuscaloosa the city, had 5 homicides.

I suggest that the statistics should reflect the number of people that live an area. Using all of Chicago's population dilutes the per capita murder rate. If only the population in the area where the murders occur was used to figure the per capita murder rate, it would be much higher.
