It's interesting to watch this, even though the "feel" of it is a lot different to Dimebag's, it is very very very cool! The guy has a good feel of his own. Gonna get this dvd.
@ShaneHeseltine On behalf of Andy James - this is not sped up. None of our filming here is 'sped up' everything is filmed in real time - no tricks. All the best - The Licklibrary Team.
It's not fair to accuse some one of speeding up there performance just because they're a better guitarist than you. I picked up this DVD today from my local music store, have to say, best buy I've made all year. Thanks!
@panteralover23 he played it in stand tuning and its played on a diff part of the fret bored from what dime played it. down 1/2 up 40 cents from what i am gathering some will argue its just down to the 40 cent mark either way its close
Hi Nicolas, If you click the link in the description the prices are displayed beside the DVD, depending where you are in the world our shipping charges vary. Where abouts are you?
awesome playing, very precise, didn't miss a note. just failed on the bends. one of dimebags signature skills are his large, quick vibrating bends. makes it sound SO MUCH HEAVIER and bangy, if u know what I mean. I do not mean to be a douche or anything, I still love this video
@MrShredtilldead aim higher? the ESP eclipse is a 1500 euro guitar. ESP got some top notch guitars and the quality of ESP guitar is much higher than for example the newe Gibson. so my question to you what the hack has he to aim on? and you know there is not a best guitar is just a matter of opinion. there is quality tho. sorry for my bad english not a native speaker.
i hate to say it because i love the guys at licklibrary but this is played 2 frets higher than where it should b.i promise. just watch any dimebag walk vids...
@zfelps No, it's not. It's D Standard and also down 1/4 of a step, So step and a quarter down. Yes, you CAN tune down 1/4 step down, they did. This is NOT drop tuned.
Just a quick question: Did you play this in a different key than what Dime did on the album? It just sounds like it's in a different key(or it could just be me being a dumb ass :P). Either way, great playing. :)
£400 is about right for a used ESP EC-1000. They're £787 new. I got a good-as-new B-stock one from Gak with a practically undetectable blemish on the back for £600.
@satanicschizo06 If you wanna improve techniques such as Alternate Picking, Tapping, and and sweeping, then this guitarist is your man. He is an up and coming success and absolute shred master that will fuck shit up harder and more uniquely than any most new metal guitarists
The song is in Drop C#...Pantera tunes almost everything 1/2 step down (Eb Standard) and this is one of the few songs they used drop tuning for. You can't tune 1/4 step down...that isn't a real note; that's called a microtone.
Seriously one of the best, most metal, and sexiest sounding guitar solos ever.
dimebag took soloing to a whole new level..
Dime has the craziest phrasing. I love his solos.
I did not know much about Darrell - but it does seem, from what I do know - he played what he heard in his head. Total personality.
It's interesting to watch this, even though the "feel" of it is a lot different to Dimebag's, it is very very very cool! The guy has a good feel of his own.
Gonna get this dvd.
dude this was played flawlessly and pitch perfect, and in perfect time signature and rythm. wow.

That's some good usage of the pentatonic scale right here!!!!
0:26 - 0:37 is the best part, but the whole solo (and song) still kick ass
R.I.P. DIME
@licklibrary gotta love andy james!!!
James for life
@currykill
walk isnt just a 1/4 step down, its a whole step and 1/4. Same tuning as A New Level, 5 Minutes Alone, I'm Broken, etc.
@panteralover23 he played it in stand tuning and its played on a diff part of the fret bored from what dime played it. down 1/2 up 40 cents from what i am gathering some will argue its just down to the 40 cent mark either way its close

that series of slides is fkin amazing
Andy James does that a lot.
Andy you've got an incredible ring finger agility.
@panteralover23 this song is in d standard 1/4 step down. he plays it a little different than dime too
That's all i need, these videos are the shit!!
dimebag was such a sick guitarist R.I.P :(
0:00-0:47 was awesome
awesome playing, very precise, didn't miss a note.
just failed on the bends.
one of dimebags signature skills are his large, quick vibrating bends. makes it sound SO MUCH HEAVIER and bangy, if u know what I mean. I do not mean to be a douche or anything, I still love this video
@TheSentinals101 not drop D, all the strings are tuned down 1 and 1/4 steps
fantastic tone
i was thinking about buying this guitar, and seeing you using it sealed the deal lol
I think it's an LTD EC1000 or something like that. Search it, they have lots of different models of it.
@panteralover23 Dime and Rex were tuned down 1/4 on CFH. Mustaine has been known to do that too.
Guys can you ask andy (james) to make video lesson of ozzy's hellraiser, especially for the solo part!!i love that solo!
thnx!
LickLibrary Rocks!
la sensibilidad de darrell fue unica
Great video!
@licklibrary of course its not sped up... all the movements are natural in this video! it is easy to see
I think he just hammers on at the second fret and slides up, sounds pretty real to me
I bought this tutorial video and practiced it everyday for 4-5 hours for the last year. I have mastered the first 7 seconds. can i get an alright?? :}
awesome cover still trying to figure out the begining fast part any advices????????
Техника на высоте!
I love how 1 out of 10 people commenting here Know how it should be played and say this is wrong.....yet no vid proof???
@Metayerthraxadeth Drop D standard actually. And then tuned down another 1/4th.
What tuning is this in because some say its in D standard and others say its in drop D
@thegodphreaker dimes tuning was not that either everyone gets it wrong. Tune to C then +60 cents and thats from the man himself.
@MrShredtilldead

The last bend is wrong.the rest is flawless! You're the man Andy! =)
@bigjobandlongman dimebag and rex tuned their guitars down 1/4 of step,but for "walk" they tune 1 extra step down
Hey Man, IT´S A GREAT COVER!!
i hate to say it because i love the guys at licklibrary but this is played 2 frets higher than where it should b.i promise. just watch any dimebag walk vids...
@zfelps No, it's not. It's D Standard and also down 1/4 of a step, So step and a quarter down. Yes, you CAN tune down 1/4 step down, they did. This is NOT drop tuned.
@useatoilet Yes he does around 0:11 ...
you make it looks so easy D:
Awesome solo dude. It is a ESP LTD EC-1000 vintage black u can pick one up for about $830 dollars and even cheaper on eBay
@herochuck1 Actually Dimebag did bar the 12th.
Just a quick question: Did you play this in a different key than what Dime did on the album? It just sounds like it's in a different key(or it could just be me being a dumb ass :P). Either way, great playing. :)
One Question: What strings does Andy use ?
What kind of guitar is that? .... I want it.
whats your equipment ?
@zfelps Nothing stopping you from tuning one quarter step down in my opinion.
@LeadBlimp speed is not the only way to evaluate a solo my friend.
bastard hes using my all time favorite guitar
Whats the technique at 0:25?
@MMFF00
you need to read properly. he said 1 1/4 down
Depends on your current skills. That shredding part is quite tricky
what tuning is this in?
Amazing *~*
@zfelps they are notes just not notes in standard western music
Actually amazing. Note perfect. This guy's a boss.
@ShaneHeseltine You're just upset because Andy melted your face with his flawlessness.
What kind of guitar is that? =)
£400 is about right for a used ESP EC-1000. They're £787 new. I got a good-as-new B-stock one from Gak with a practically undetectable blemish on the back for £600.
@satanicschizo06 Have you ever heard any of Andy James's own stuff?
tuning?
@cmzangetsu1993 There are no passive EMGs...
@ShaneHeseltine Dude it's not speed up... it's Andy James he's like one of the better guitarist's out there.
@maidenrocks98 Whit the 3 P's
1. Practice
2. Practice
&
3. Practice
SWEET :3, how much would the cd cost?, and do you charge for shipping?
lol is it possible to learn it in 3 weeks?
@tango616 ugh thank god someone actually said the tuning right.
I want them in both ways ;)
Na boa esse cara tocava demais!
i think this solo is using the pentatonic blues scale
No this song is in fact a quarter of a note down from D-standard, it isn't drop tuned.
ez se volt Pantera koncerten.... :) x'D
Dime would tune to D standard but put his tuner at 445 hz
Very very good job except i noticed he's playing it in standard tuning i bet. Dimebag did this one down a step
@9JordanMcDonald5 Agreed.
pretty nice guitar, want that *___*
That was a lesson?
@razgriz229 Well, it was based on blues patterns...
The tuning for this song is whole step down from this.
@LeadBlimp Not really, the only difficult part is the sweep
@satanicschizo06 If you wanna improve techniques such as Alternate Picking, Tapping, and and sweeping, then this guitarist is your man. He is an up and coming success and absolute shred master that will fuck shit up harder and more uniquely than any most new metal guitarists
MYTH!
wat guitar plz?
R.I.P.
i can play that its easy once you start doing alternative picking
@maidenrocks98 you have to be a god like he was.
The solo sounds right but it doesn't look right. I am confused.
how ?
Tah ta da da Ta da da Ta da
Tell that to Angus Young who uses both 1/4 down and 1/4 step up! :P
The song is in Drop C#...Pantera tunes almost everything 1/2 step down (Eb Standard) and this is one of the few songs they used drop tuning for. You can't tune 1/4 step down...that isn't a real note; that's called a microtone.
wat guitar is that? its mad sexy
