Once you see the movie, you will understand that the lyrics are ... Let's say, slightly ironic! Monica was really a great actor as well as singer. She did many stage shows with one of our greatest comedy duos, Hasse och Tage. She also did a great job in the old movies Utvandrarna och Nybyggarna, Rännstensungar and Söderkåkar, to mention a few. In Rännstensungar, Cornelis Vreeswijk is starring, he was a good actor too.
That Rännstensungar is a remake of the 1944 original movie. And fun fact! In the original there is towards the end a couple walking with a baby in a pram, that baby was my father and the couple my grandparents. The movie was also recorded in Malmö. And I have seen both movies but the original is the best. I like very old movies.
My absolute favourite of all Swedish movies. I think I've seen it twelve times in cinema, countless of times at home theater. It has the simple concept of the booze on the boat and the crayfish and never shall the two meet. Some of the best comedy actors around. As Swedish as a movie can get.
In the movie this song is only played instrumentally, as a recurring theme througout the movie. Later Hasse Alfredson and Tage Danielsson added a text to it, which Monica recorded. She played a lead role also in their first movie, the comedy "Svenska bilder", and later for example in their wonderful movie "Äppelkriget". And she acted in almost all their revues on stage. But she was not only a comic actor. She was just as good in dramatic roles. In the two greatest Swedish films, "Utvandrarna" and "Nybyggarna" she acted as the village-whore Ulrika, who after settling in America becomes married to a baptist pastor. The author of the 4 novels, which the movies are based upon, Vilhelm Moberg, was told by the film director Jan Troell that he wanted Monica Zetterlund to play the village-whore Ulrika, Moberg objected against having "that pop singer" in this role. But after have being shown the first takes of Monica Zetter as Ulrika, Moberg sdaid to Troell: "I was wrong" (and it was very rare that Vilhelm moberg admitted that he was wrong about something).
I suggest Monica Zetterlund singing "Vad en liten gumma kan gno". Live under "Den gumman kan gno". Here she combine excellent jazzsinging, acting and comedian talent. A real Swedish classic! Don't miss it!

"Att angöra en brygga" is translated to "how to approach a dock". The word "angöra" usually means when you approaching a coast. So that is the funny. And the films starts with a group having real problems docking 😂
I've heard this recording hundreds of times, but it's not until now that I noticed that the Brazilian musician and genious Sivuca is one of the musicians, even doing a short vocal/accordion solo. Not very observant of me.
As a stand up comedian you should really look at Target Danielssons monolog (Who made the movie This Song Is based on) about probability, It Was Made after Harrisburg/Three Mile Island and before Chernobyl.
I sommarvärmen som vi har nu rekommenderar jag Agnetha Fältskogs låt The Heat Is On (hennes favoritlåt från soloskivivorna på 80 talet) en annan bra låt med Agnetha är Take Good Care Of The Children (Skriven av Tomas Ledin). Önskar alla en skön sommar!
Which it of course is. While it has a different meaning in nautical terminology, the meaning from the movie title has been known and used since the 1800:s.
@@Motbilder A fairly weak argument IMHO, if one looks at maps from the 19th c and before you'll notice how much they took apart compound words back then, not a reason to do it now. Same with spelling, eg "ok" or "og" were perfectly fine spellings of "och". And I wonder, in what other settings than nautical would one use "angöra"?
