    Hi Becca, Chris, Another great Vlog. Thank you. It's a shame your tile had not arrived, thus holding the job up. Excellent tiling on the surround base Becca. Chris did an amazing job cleaning up the stove. Becca's lesson of the week, was all about cutting a collar for the Chimney pipe to fit neatly in place as it goes up thru the roof. An Excellent and as always, a well edited video. Thank you again. Spoolbox.

    Becks you could always wash that scared tile with the grout solution and it should darken the scratches so you can't see em? It wont keep the grout on it just the colour. Bugger being cold i'd just install the fire and do the tile later.

    Steve seems to be a lovely guy that is really into quality work, its going to look fantastic. I've a stove just like that its called a Puffin and they were very popular on boats. Reconditioned mine this summer, did a rust removal first, then the blacking, it works great. When the stove is hot go over it again with a cloth and it brings up a great shine to it. With a 4 1/2 inch single skin pipe you need to be 13 1/2 inches without anything combustable in the area, I'd take off the pine and put up more of that fireproof boarding, then put on that lovely copper ring you made, maybe paint the board to match in with the fire surround, hearths looking really good.

    • @emmageear6265
      @emmageear6265 7 месяцев назад

      Copper will still conduct heat, so really need to attach it to fireproof board not to pine t&g. Just cover the fireproof board with the copper.

    The fire place is really looking great and the stove too, good work. I’m not sure if you really needed a brand new cratch cover? You could have got it repaired by the original installer at a fraction of the price of a new one. My cousin used Titan Canopies, she’s very pleased but they are expensive. Looking forward to seeing the end result though but please don’t hit the bridge again! Best let Becca take the helm.

    One piece of advice the rear pram cover when you have it made the normal height is 6'9" which is unnecessary if you are short arses like myself have it made to suit your height remember the higher it is the less bridges you can get under with it up. P.s. Mark the man who will fit it when it's ready is the nicest person you are ever likely to meet

    Have a chat with Steve about some form of protection crash bar for the front of your Boat to protect against further mishaps to the new cover.
    As they have all the measurements for the front of your Boat,it shouldn’t be that difficult to design something that will protect the cover but also look Good 👍.
    If you are not going to bother with getting the Bow thruster sorted out or having a new one,then I’m afraid what happened before is likely to happen again ( won’t be your fault due to currents in the river ) but at least with some sort of crash protection you won’t have to replace the complete cover again,the crash bar means the boat will just slide against any Bridge.
    Definitely think you really need to have a Bow Thruster tho 🤷‍♂️.
    Another great video and the tiling and the stove looks amazing,pretty impressed with the chimney collar.
    Bless the pair of ya,you Must be freezing your nu nahs off Chris,maybe I should bring you a Braising kit hehehe 😝.
    Bet Bex’s has got some Cold bits as well,especially from the weekend just gone when it was -3 Brrrrr .
    I think having some form of Fans in your Boat will be a good idea of pushing the Heat around,when you have the Stove sorted,you have those ones that go on top of the stove to push the Heat around but a lot of other Boats have Fans in them too Disperse Heat in the Summer but also for moving warmth around when the Heating is on in the Winter ( Those Small Fans you can adjust ??? Just a suggestion ? ).
    Cracking video Crowbot Crew ❤❤

    • @TheNomadicCrobot
      @TheNomadicCrobot  7 месяцев назад

      That would be a good idea, I wonder how much more work it would be, I do worry it will get knocked again at some point, especially with lack of experience and just being stuck at the Maria alot.
      It would be really nice to get the Bow thruster sorted, at the moment it's just cost really...but we have heard they're great. It's so cold right now but fingers crossed for this weekend.
      Yes the fan idea is great, there's 1 small one in the kitchen , but we are intending on getting some radiators to in the new year.
      Thanks so much 😀

    • @moffatt43
      @moffatt43 7 месяцев назад

      @@TheNomadicCrobot I think as you already have all the measurements it might be something that the people who make the Covers might be interested in making themselves or including it as part of their service/installation 🤷‍♂️( I would imagine they would want their customers feeling safe knowing the expensive cover is safe from damage ? ), I suppose like a package deal ? They make or they use someone who makes the metal pram work frame so an external protective frame should be pretty easy ??.
      I have watched other videos on canal narrowboats and even those who have bow thrusters seem to get into trouble or have problems when currents are strong or something happens at Bridges ! The pramwork covers on some peoples boats have been crushed ( the one on the stern ) because the bridges when water level is high,they have no clearance under the bridge ( something that you are going to face in the future) so the entire frame and canvas has to be lowered.
      Rivers are either very high or quite low apparently these days and currents can be a nightmare because of the rivers and canals silting up ?!!.
      I think even if you have radiators,fans above the radiators would be a good idea ? Heat rises so then the fans could push the warm air around ?,anything to make your boat more efficient heating/cost wise and not having hot or cold spots,I watched a video of a young couple who have opted for Hot Air heating rather than radiators and have ductwork around the boat with booster fans to ensure the heated air is distributed evenly.
      I have no idea how much a Bow thruster would cost but maybe it is a simple fix and maybe a DIY solution is available ? I wouldn’t be surprised if it isn’t a problem with the electrics rather than the actual thruster unit itself ?. The previous owner of your Boat wasn’t exactly the best kind of owner and maybe he F it up ?!!.
      Something I was listening to the other day was the Canal and River Trust and their standing on emissions from Boats on the Canal and Rivers with Diesel and Petrol Engines,they were saying about some owners lack of maintenance and some not caring about polluting the waterways and they were being asked on what they are thinking about banning Fossil Fuel Engines but also the banning of Wood Stoves or at least making sure that those who have Wood Stoves only use fuels ( wood ) which is smoke free or using Coalite ( I’m not sure if that was it but it is a smoke free coal ?? ).
      Apparently lots of Boat owners are collecting wood from wherever to cut costs and just burning that in areas ( moorings ) where there are Smoke free bans ( ?? ) for the Homes in the area.
      I suppose Narrowboats eventually will be all Electric ( Engine and Heating ) but that’s like going to be 2035 or something like that ??.
      There was a Narrowboater who is going totally off grid,water catchment and solar etc but he seems to have disappeared from RUclips ??. Maybe he had second thoughts lol 😂.
      I think a lot of people don’t realise just how expensive owning a Narrowboat can be ? There was a young couple who just recently found out their boat had lots of holes in the Hull ,it’s been temporarily welded but they have been told it is going to need to be repaired properly within the year and it is going to cost a small fortune for the work.
      Love your videos and I think You Bex’s and Chris are pretty amazing people ❤️
      Right I’m off to bed,another busy day tomorrow,no rest for the wicked hehehe 😝 xx

      @@TheNomadicCrobot agreed, I wouldn’t be without a stove but it is nice to have the option to just press that button for instant heat. I’ve got mine connected via my phone so I can switch it on from in bed.
