Now let’s be clear there’s no perfect vocalist, every vocalist has a flaw or 2. However between the 3, I’d choose Monica simply because her voice embodies power, versatility (meaning she has the ability to sing in a lower and higher register). She has proper diction. Not to mention Monica has that raw emotion in her voice, she’s soulful and makes better music in my opinion. All 3 queens are trailblazers and shaped the culture. Aaliyah definitely showed the most range. She has many example singing in Head voice, Chest voice and a dark lower registry. Monica and brandy kinda stuck to what they were known for. It’s not to say they don’t have range, they just didn’t explore or take risks like Aaliyah did vocally.

I´m here after the Britney, Christina, Jessica S. and Mandy M. video and I think this 7 girls are very talented and I really enjoyed the walk down memory lane. But I noticed something: how the first 3 where demanded to dress sexier over time by their record labels. I mean, I don´t care how they dress if it´s their decision, but it´s no secret what they went through and it´s horrible they were forced to sing or dress a certain way they didn´t want.
