🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 Her runs, riffs, tone, timing, raspy and husky voice is like rain hitting parched land. I'm so grateful that I'm here on Earth the same time that she is to hear her!😭💚
@Devon Hawkins-Anderson like I said, I’ll wait Until I hear it. When someone is that influenced by someone, you hear them say it at least once in their career. Maybe she had but I haven’t heard it yet.
Brandy is definitely one of the greatest R&B vocalists of the past 30 years. Her tone is superb, and her runs are flawless. Plus, she continues to perfect her craft. She gets better vocally with time. #TheVocalBible 🎤 🎶 🥁
I love the older she gets the better and wider her vocals gets. I hate that she dislike Human, because that's one of her best era. 2000's brandy is not to be play with.
I can not WAIT for this video to finish uploading. One of the few vocalists I've seen, to constantly challenge themselves and almost change their style of singing each album and each era. Hell, even in between eras, she experiments like no other. The b7 Album is just another example of how experimental she's always been with her own voice and how she's constantly pushing the boundaries on what can be done in a recording booth. Check out all of her unreleased songs ... impeccable!! Songs like: Sweet nothings, Freedom, One thing, Keyed, Open (Osmosis Jones soundtrack) Home, Drumlife, Who's the loser now, Stand back, Today, Surprise ending, Believer, etc.
I love “Open”. It’s a great R&B track. A lot of people don’t know about that one. Brandy sounds amazing on it. Her voice is everything. She should start performing that one at her concerts.
I feel like she was made for Broadway! Her voice is at its best when she is singing loud and with a story. She is also a really great actress, I feel like she is at her absolute best when she does both.
I disagree with you! I think her warm, husky, smokey, velvety, airy soft dynamics are when she is unmatched. The sound just hovers like fog or a smoke filled lounge.
Her tone & timbre, inflections, runs & riffs, range, the mixture of warm and cold textures , her beauty and even her grace is all a reflection of how she constantly works on her soul & her voice .... she is always evolving and the true meaning of technique and versatility !!! An elite vocalist and a worldwide Masterclass, Brandy is honestly one of the best vocalist to ever grace this planet 🤍🖤🤎 She has the best harmonies I have ever heard #Period ‼️‼️‼️ And her tone has one of the most peculiar colors & most beautiful I have witnessed ‼️‼️ The Vocal Bible 📖 #Brandy B’Rocka you’re a legend !! Everyone has a queen B.. some might say lil Kim, some say Beyoncé… some may say others.. and i love all the ppl I just named.. but it’ll always be brandy for me
Thank you SO much for making this video. I was mesmerized from start to finish. She is my favourite artist. Always and forever. She IS the Vocal Bible.
2:52. Just FYI, this “Baby” performance was very early in 1995. And the previous clip of her singing “Brokenhearted” was late 1995. You can tell from the 2:28 clip which actually took place eight months after the 2:52 one, that she sounded less resonant and her tone was already smaller, around August ‘95 when she would’ve been promoting that single.
With a few exceptions, it continued to follow that trend through the WTE / SUIMR and Cinderella eras into the next album. The Grammy WTE rehearsal was a return to form in terms of her having perfect placement and full vocal resonance. For the actual performance, she still sounded good, but the size of her tone was back trending a bit smaller and you also heard her rasp returning. Actually, the same thing happened at the 99 AMAs. The rehearsal clips that circulated in the media were fluid, well-placed, and agile. The actual performance... well, she struggled. I think that nervousness affected her vocals significantly. Her comfort level and personal confidence are crucial to the outcome of a performance. Also, that she was shockingly overworked while she was still developing and that made her voice unpredictable in the NSN era. This leads to poor reaction from audiences and even less confidence. Cyclical. Brandy’s voice actually did not sound resonant and perfectly placed again until she performed on Oprah in April ‘99. Watch the ADC performance. And then it wasn’t again until the FM album. In between there was a lot of airiness, nasality, and coarse throat singing. She showed the most promise of any singer I had ever heard when she first came out, but I think a lack of classical training while being heavily overworked at a fragile time created inconsistency, which then led to a lack of confidence and dismantled her shot at ultimate greatness, ie joining the pantheon with Whitney, Tina, etc. Then, she missed out on her chances to course correct.
I love Brandy and always thought she was great, but IMO it wasn't until 2004 and the afrodisiac era that her voice started to get that polished tone that started to become her signature.
6:54 can someone *PLEASE* tell me where to find this performance I have been looking for YEARS for this Afrodisiac live performance & haven't found it up until now with this short clip 😭
Do ya ever be wondering who is going to sing at these songbirds we listen to. I honestly use to wonder who was going to sing at Mrs.Whitney Houston Brown funeral I’m sorry she was her happiest when she was with Bobby. He gave her life no matter the ups and downs period.
Whats soo funny is, these little kids in the 2020s on these takent shows actually be BLOWING OUT 90s talent. Its like Talent is getting Better and Better decade by decade (there are exceptions when people are before thier time) But by an large we got Marrian Anderson 1940s Aretha Franklin 1960s Whitney Housten 1980s Brandy 1990s
Can anybody explain the placement that brandy uses throughout her evolution stages. I like her voice now than her ealier years which was just a replica of Whitney's, but i cant understamd how she starts of singing mid-low range yet her voice isn't muddles like some singers who sing in a similar tessitura.
Brandy had breathing problems /issues when she was younger. And if you look up people singing on oxygen ,the women can sing lower . I think Casey is he name . So yes maybe all the oxygen minutes helped her
Never Say Never is her weakest era vocally, which is ironic considering it’s her biggest as well. It’s understandable though, her voice was changing until the undeniable force it would later become.
I’ve always said the same thing. I hate it because I would have loved to have gotten some better performances from her. You can tell she was holding back in performances due to the change in her voice.
I agree it’s her weakest vocally. Im willing to admit that sometimes I couldn’t even understand wtf she was saying. But make no mistake, Never Say Never is definitely one of her top 3 albums
Also she was working a lot during that time. With Moesha, Cinderella, I still know what you did last summer, and recording the album her voice was changing but also probably very tired
because she's the vocal Bible and she used great technique rests her voice and she imho has a really unique voices that really didn't reach its prime until she was liked 30s. where her peers peaked in early 20s.
Brandy, Mariah, and Whitney will forever be my 3 favorite voices of all time.

That’s the same thing I said! That album had some of her best vocals to me!
I agree. The “Human” album deserves more respect. “Long Distance” is one of her best songs if you ask me. I like “Piano Man” too.
@@BoyNextDoor456 Long distance had me so dramatic in the shower
Human brought me out of my lows, such an incredible album. You’re right, her runs were incredible during this era
