That is an absolutely amazing render, and your motivation is incredibly inspiring - For my first 2 years, I didn't even finish any projects due to me just giving up and starting with a new one, never really creating anything I'd consider as "finished". When you see a body builder posing in front of a mirror at the gym, they aren't admiring themselves, they're finding all of the flaws.

It took me less than 9 months to model anything on the fly just by watching a lot of tutorials, so I don't think it takes 10 years to be a master at it. idk depends on what your goals are. For me, all I did was sleep, eat, blender, repeat for about 7 months straight it took a huge toll on my mental health, but it was worth it

    • @Genervilz
      @Genervilz 2 месяца назад

This is absolutely false, 3D is one of the easiest arts to learn. Drawing requires 10 years of continuous (even on digital art), non-stop practice, and probably after 10 years the results you see won't be anywhere near the pros anyway. 3D takes you maybe 6 months to learn everything. The problem, if we really want to talk about problems, is that 3D is not the result, but the starting point. What is difficult to learn is animating, directing, scripting, and everything behind a production.
I am both a 3D and a 2D artist, and there is no comparison! I have been drawing for over 15 years, and what I draw is not at all comparable to what I do in 3D which I have been studying for just 5 years. 3D, of all the things I studied, was one of the easiest to learn, and that includes studying subjects like history, chemistry, literature, writing, photography, psychology, philosophy and so on.
If 3D stops you, it means that you are not good at studying, but stop saying that 3D is difficult, at most it's complex, but there is an endless list of things out there that are decidedly more difficult than 3D. Personally, learning Blender was one of the easiest things I have ever learned in my life, after 1 month you can easily start creating your own projects without any problem. I want to see you using Photoshop after 1 month, you will still be there trying to understand how the keys work.

Someone once told me that learning Blender (and 3D in general) is like learning to play the piano. You'll suck at first, but eventually, it becomes an extension of your creativity allowing you to create worlds you thought were unimaginable. The most important thing is that, deep inside, you have to feel like you're having fun doing it. If you do, keep at it. If you don't, it was worth a try. 🧡

"I made something - and for that I'm proud" This should be the motto of all people creating - I know the struggle - i used to just create and have fun with it when i was a kid but almost being 26 now and not really having done much in the last couple years due to a long illness every idea and concept or even footage goes through this huge filter consisting of what others posted on social media and what others might think of what i made (and how "bad" it is) therefore a lot of it just ends up getting scraped and never being made at all.
We should all just start creating more - not caring or comparing to what others can do - we are not them and they are not us - everyone has different circumstances and obstacles - and we should just create for the sake of fun while doing so and maybe learning something new and getting better at it!
Always thinking something should be perfect while doing it for the very first time is a trap I myself fall in way too often and its the thief of creativity - so lets untrap ourselves! :D

Remember that the first step in being really good at something is being really bad at something. Social media tends to give people an unrealistic expectation of how their work should look as you're looking at work by people that have been at it for years not days. This is often an issue with Blender where you'll see a post by someone claiming they've used it for a month and produced something that looks like it's strait out of an ILM studio but don't mention that they've been working with Maya for the past fifteen years (fundamental don't change with software).
BTW the singular is vertex not vertice. Plural is vertices. Sorry to nitpick.

As somebody, who learned 3-D 20 years ago in a proprietary piece of software that hardly anybody talks about on the Internet anymore, I completely understand the struggle. You have no idea how much I appreciate this video. What you went through and what you’re gonna go through is super real. I just wanna remind you not to, compare this stuff you make with the stuff made by people who been doing this for a long time. You will eventually discover your own style, your own workflow, and the things that keep you going. You just have to give yourself the time and space to do that. Congratulations on your first thing! Keep it up.
Also, I’m not super familiar with blender at all so I might be off base on this, but I think you basically have to bake the fluid simulation so that it’s basically just a static animation, and then you gotta do some particle effects for the splashes, they’re two different things . Somebody else probably has a better solution. Hahahaha

The best kind of way to pick up not just blender but any software is to have that drive to create something, achieve a certain result because when you're all focused on wanting to bring the thing from your imagination to reality, time really just flies by.
I had no motivation to create motion graphics but then slowly i got so into it that i picked up Adobe's after effects and because my brain had so many ideas i just kept problem solving and trying new things until ive gotten the result I wanted to. Now im having the same phase with 3D.
Same can be done with blender , if you've got a scene built in your mind. I'd say you're already good enough to succeed in creating things , all you need to do is learn and try finding any way you can to bring things to life.
Remember to never give up and to create what you really want to , blender and many other softwares are just tools. You can use them however you want , art is afterall about creating things and the journey of it is what puts soul in the art.

I started blender back in August of last year. i followed the donut tutorial but quit midway through cus i was just following everything he does without understanding anything. It gets easier after about 2 months, also don't just watch random tutorials watch what you want to learn for me it was cars, robots and weapons

I've been using Blender for many years now and I'm still learning things regularly and dealing with little frustrations here and there. I'm actually really terrible with rendering and usually put off texturing because I'm so indecisive, so I never really 'wowed' anyone with my work. I think you're off to a good start. As long as you're making something, including things that feel like failures, you're on the road to improving. Making videos about it seems like a good motivational tool too.

Really awesome work! You really show that everybody can make some cool looking art work as long as you just have fun! Is it gonna be perfect? Ofc not! Does it matter? Ofc not!
I really like what you made and I really appreciate the fact that you are sharing a small part of your journey of making it! In a world where it is difficult to not compare yourself to others this is a fresh breath of air. Keep up the good work and have fun!

Thank you for inspiring and motivating me to start a new project in blender. It's hard for me to start because my mind needs a justification to do the work like making it my career in 3d or being useful in some kind of way to my future. I love the idea of doing something just for the fun of it and not thinking about the results or the reasons.

I had this video on pause at 0.05 for about 3 days and now that I just watched full of prejudice while thinking is just a pretty face in make up saying blablah I got a pleasant surprise because the approach was excellent, we set such a high expectations of ourselves and auto-sabotage our lives, just try and see, I have blender installed for months and only watched the 1st donut tutorial, need to switch jobs to get more free time and sit and chill to see if I can do some mediocre renders, you go girl, keep it up.

Think of something to model instead, rather than replicate some art. I once took apart a palette and photographed each piece of wood then textured some same sized boxes in blender. I started to put the planks together like I was building for real. It was an inspiring blender experience.

It's easier if you've learned other 3D programs in the past, however, 3D has a bit of a learning curve, but once you demystify it by learning the process (box modeling, principles of animation, how to rig characters, learning the useful hotkeys, etc.) it gets easier. You clearly know a bit about the node editor, so good job.

Always admired people who are exceptionally talented in art, but few people actually talk about the discipline it takes to get there. I’m in the same boat as you, started my blender journey a year and a half ago and still feel like a beginner, but I push my self to get better, some of my best work is when I actually don’t feel like modeling. Even if you feel like the end result is mediocre at best, you still took the time to practice and might’ve even learned something along the way. Art takes time. Good luck.

Felt the very same with most things, especially art. Then started dabbling in drawing, pixel art and the worst of the lot 3D modelling. It was just picking it up, dabbling in some tutorial where the outcome was way below what even the tutorial showed with all of them.
Then just went for it, first it was drawing. Started on digital (somewhat mixed, lack lustre but okishresults) then went to paper and pencil and just kept drawing till it got to a decent level of being able to draw people and certain things. Outcome being something I enjoy doing now and happy with the results.
After that it was pixel art. Same pattern, a bit of dabbling, then tutorials which always fell as soon as I started and didn't see any good results. Then just went for a 30 day experiment of creating pixel art and actually came out with very good results as well.
So only one thing remains... the much dreaded 3D modelling with blender. Been meaning to pick it back up and seeing this kinda scares/inspires me.😅

i 100% relate to the burden of being easily inspired and having too many dreams. this got recommended to me after i decided to go against the grain and teach myself Blender for 3D printing / 'hard surface' modeling. it took me 12 hours to do what a blender-guru friend of mine did in 2 minutes 😭 but i will get there.

  • @Domarius64

Youve got a good eye for art! You dont have to eyeball the symmetry, you can use the Mirror modifier, just make one half and all your changes are mirrored in real time.

I was already thinking to get back into Blender after dropping it twice, and I had also done BlenderGuru's latest donut tutorial. I had also seen another tutorial and a timelapse of a really complex render, but this video with your simple render that you put a lot of effort into and got a product that at least shows that you're getting the hang of it gave me the last bit of motivation I needed. All the best with your renders!

You're off to a great start. You came up with an idea for a project and you figured out a way to complete it. Sure, there is room for improvement, but that's why you repeat that process. Blender Guru's tutorials are great, but his 7 habits talk changed my perspective on learning immensely. Flipped Normals also has a great video on learning Basics vs Fundamentals. Even as a software developer I make any new people on my team watch those two videos.
As for dark mode vs light mode, to each their own. I have astigmatism so light mode is better for me. Saying dark mode is going to make you better is like saying you can drive better if your car is blue.

As a suggestion to improve this as an animation. consider using Rigid Body World, Fluid simulation and a study on Physically Based Rendering to get more realistic looking results, for example using correct Index of Refraction settings on materials and Subsurface Scattering for the milk.
Started on Blender 2.36, which a lot of my peers mocked me for, Blender is now leap years ahead of what is use to be.
