Dancing in heels was actually pretty much the standard in kpop for girl groups back in 2nd gen. I think as choreos got more complex they moved away from it almost completely because it was so limiting. SNSD wore heels for a ton of their songs.
Yeah Yoona has talked about how the members are so comfortable in heels that they could run in them
I feel like hyuna embodies this whole era like she practically lives in heels and is a pro at dancing in them
When Mamamoo started out, they also always wore heels. Eventually all four members had slipped discs, one member after another. They each had to recover and they dropped the heels. It just was not worth the pain that caused or the recovery time it took to get over that type of injury. LOADS of groups noticed when they met on stage again.
'I thought you were taller...?'
"Oh, yes, but we quit wearing heels because of spinal injuries we all had.'
'OH!'
That could have been the start of the wave that made everybody quit wearing heels, at least while dancing. Mamamoo are very highly repected now for everything they have been through and managed to still be here.
@@jamescurfman3284 I think it's less that they started the transition and more that they were one of the last girl groups left that still wore heels. Mamamoo wore them as late as 2018 for Egotistic, by that point all the early 3rd gen girl groups had been wearing flats almost exclusively for years. Twice, Red Velvet, Gfriend, IOI, etc.
But yeah I totally agree that it's a good thing the switch happened, dancing in high heels is way too hard on the body for anyone to be expected to do every day for years.
The group that you mentioned VS lisa dancing is different. One has more stationary movement whilst Lisa has more up down movement which is way harder with heels.

She was "borned" to be the "It" girl of this generation, be it dance, rap, sing, fashion, style, traits and personality..... She aced it all, am I exaggerating? Go check it yourself.
Lisa's first dance class was when she was four years old. Also, the girl that she danced with in #4 is Cheshir Ha, her choreographer for all of the Lili's Film Dance Performances. Lisa and Bam have been friends since Lisa was TALLER than Bam (pretty sure they are 'close' in age but she might actually be just barely older than he is, I am not absolutely sure). He still calls her a word that basically means 'big sister' because she was bigger than he was way back when. He still respects that part even though his height shot past hers. Good friends with an awesome inside joke. Love to see it. :)

Oh, yes, and the other girl in the Lilifilm Video is the choreographer and good friend of Lisa's, Cheshir Ha. When Cheshir left Korea, Lisa stopped making these dance cover videos because it was really just a fun thing that she and Cheshir were doing, and Lisa found that it just was not the same without Cheshir there. I think Cheshir may have moved to Germany...I could be wrong about that. She has her own YT channel and she still uploads periodically. :)

I'm so glad you did the practice video for LiLi Film #4 I like it so much better than the actual video The camera work seems better and Lisa looks better dancing in the practice video I wish more people would react to the practice video and Lisa's theme from Youth With You "We Rock"

She's not that tall, she's 5'5 (167cm). I'm 5'5 and my sister is 5'7...and she was told she was tall, whereas I was told I was average. Also, I think Lisa is pretty curvy for a skinny girl! She has actual hips which makes her look very curvy (like her in that yellow Bvlgari dress), just no curve in her waist. Jennie on the other hand has a prominent curve on her waist but less hip curvage than Lisa.
Lisa is 5'6 which is above average for female (165 =5'5)...you're pretty tall too

I understand why GGs for the most part have stopped wearing heels after 2 Gen ggs. It’s just not practical/safe for the styling/concepts/choreography that they do now. SNSD choreography was mostly easy enough that they could do them in heels

The other girl in the video is Chishir Ha, the choreographer in Lilifilm 1-4 and The Movie..
Yup, she's been dancing since she was 5, probably before, and she's not even the tallest in BP, at, IIRC, ~5'6" tall.
Lisa & Bam are childhood best friends. They danced on the same dance team for many years & it was foundational to both of them as dancers. Bam is an amazing dancer but unfortunately ALL of the members of GOT7 are amazing dancers & they have Yugyeom who is considered 1 of the best dancers in K-pop history so he gets overshadowed but he’s still a lead dancer in got7.

Dancing in high heels doesn’t happen unless you’re short lmao Jennie and Jisoo are constantly in high heels. They try to make them the same size so Jisoo and Jennie = high heels and Lisa and Rosé = no high heels. But it’s good to see Lisa dancing in them!

Its funny that she said girls don't dance in heels when that's a newer development in kpop. Older gens were always in heels, but they weren't doing as physical and complex dances as groups do now. But they were wearing some tall and thin azz heels just a couple gens before current gens.

Almost eery 2nd gen girl group has had at least one routine where they dance in heels. In fact when it comes to groups like Sistar I don’t think I’ve seen them perform in flat shoes once, I’m not even joking.
