To be fair I see a lot of TCG players including me that really take into account the price of individual cards. The thing is that there is a lot of trading/selling cards at TCG card store where most people go and play so knowing how much your cards are worth are pretty vital. Most people aren't those click baity influencers that inflate the price of garbage cards just to trick people.
People would be trying to sell a small collection like this in my area for $1000 and state "no low balls, I know what these cards are worth". I would never find vintage pokemon on the cheap.

I think I eventually sold my used computer stuff for $100 or so. Still stings to wonder what I passed on. Almost as much as passing up ~$33 Bitcoin around 2012-2013 believing it to be a small internet novelty, and my skepticism reinforced mid-2013 when hearing price had dropped from $150+ down to $60-70. Bullet dodged! Little did I know considering my passing on & forgetting about BTC was dodging a financial bullet, basically equates to me trying to ‘duck & cover’ to stop a financial atom bomb! Yeah, so anyone looking for a proven track record of solid financial/investment advice, I’m willing to share my financial moves & investment opinions (which over ~2 decades have proven to be about 180° from the profitable decision)!

There have been many different pokemon cards made over the decades, so actually finding for your specific card is likely going to be hard. We'll see if you actually manage to find a buyer with so many sellers.

Remember, condition matters. If you got gunk on your cards, whitening on the back, scratches on the foils, printer lines, you are not getting mint/psa grade prices
And now take 15 bugs from every card and you have the actual ungradet price. Garados shadowless is 20 ungradet and you can buy a mew between 10 and 30$ ungradet. Its fabulous how media and influenzer wanna spike the prices 😅

Unfortunately, the only real way to make a profit off of Pokémon cards is having PSA 9-10 graded holographics, or downright factory sealed booster packs from gen 1-3. Everything else is pennies and nickels. People are dumb for thinking this could make you money. You’re better off collecting Coca-Cola cans in your local neighborhood than buying someone’s wrinkled cards.
