Beautiful Dartmoor adventure on a cruiser

- A bit of a trip over the moor on my XV1700. I entered north Dartmoor from Okehampton Camp. Stopped for a smoke and to tell you a little bit about the legends of the moor! Some of the rough roads on the moor are definitely not suitable for such a meaty bike.

Thank you ever so much!! Do you ride to see your mother? Lots of lovely scenery around Torbay. We used to spend lots of time at Spitchwick when we were little, but it's pretty crowded with tourists now, actually that's one of the reasons I moved to mid Devon (from South Devon) it's quieter here.

These old folk lore tales are usually based upon true events, so
I guess the guy crashed his his car because he had a "Hairy Palm" incident
and couldn't see where he was going. 😎 Too much "Hairy Palming" can ruin
one's eyesight apparently. 😨But perhaps that's a completely different folk
legend.
Sophia, you've made a whole new legend of Dartmoor within this video.
People will be talking about this for centuries to come. "The Legend of Sophia's ditch"..🌞
There will indeed be a small part of Dartmoor that will forever be yours.
Perhaps those Ten Tors kids will go looking for it, you never know, they
need to practice with orienteering and stuff.

Hahaha!! I hope I haven't added to legend with my ditch visit. I do have a relation (who died before I was born) who had his steering wheel yanked by the hairy hand (when they really thought it was a hairy hand). Oh, I meant to say....this comment has only just appeared for me...weird! (a ghostly comment). You keep safe and I hope everything is lovely for you!!

Loving your videos. I really enjoy Dartmoor too. I'm currently on a cb125r but will be going for my full license in the very near future so I can ride my cbr600 f3. This video has inspired me to take a ride up to Dartmoor as I live only 40 Minutes away. 😊
Oh well that's brilliant!!! There's plenty of beautiful roads wriggling through Dartmoor. And The Warren Inn is very popular for bikers with great views across the mooe and a fire that hasn't been put out for a couple of hundred years (or something!!). Many childhood memories of Badgers Holt & camping 😊That must be around that area somewhere, it definitely looks familiar. Beautiful countryside,wonderful roads & what good weather you have; we still have lots of frost & in some areas snow ❄️ your jacket looks like mine which I gave to my cat for his bed. He passed away in April 2023 , you wearing that jacket has brought back beautiful memories of him, I will get the jacket out of the shed & get it cleaned. It’s funny how different little things can bring back memories 🤔
Well, I think that's lovely that I brought back memories of your cat. Even though it was the cat's bed! Badger's Holt...yes, that's Dartmoor, near Princetown I think. The weather's weird at the moment...sort of pleasantly hovering around 13 degrees... nothing drastic either with sun or rain.....just mild mannered weather!! And it's lovely to hear from you German nutter!!

@@lionheartmachines2193 It was very funny and only you could get away with that, without making it sound crude. Lots of ticks about now. It was a glorious day, cold wind but lovely, if you could find a spot sheltered from the wind.

Thank you!! Glad I didn't come over as crude...that would horrify me!! I went to Bridport on Sunday to visit my mother (in the car) and there were 6000000 bikers down at West Bay! I was thinking how nice it was to invisibly suss it out until my mother pointed out all the staring (but I was wearing bright pink mad trousers and a shiny purple top)!!

Oh thank you! There are many beautiful places in Britain but Dartmoor calls to my soul. North Dartmoor is a bit exposed for an impromtu wee though 😂 Lovely music as always. I'll be saving this to my bikes playlist 😊
Well, I did tell you I'd have to do a Dartmoor one. I'll do some more too...a ditch is the place to wee on north Dartmoor! And there's something about the bleak, wild barreness of Dartmoor isn't there!!

You should go over to the edge of the moor near Yelverton, stop just before the cattle grid, on a good day you can see right down the county into Cornwall, another great view is from Kitt Hill if you know it.

I intended on going to the moor last week to take some pics of of my bike but the road to Moretonhampstead was shut. Being a bit fatalistic i took it as an omen and buggered off elsewhere!

@lionheartmachines2193 there are some lovely countryside and big hills especially in the moors but then the lake district is not far then gets even better but need it to be summer time , give me a shout I would do it with you

@lionheartmachines2193 noise pollution? Maybe for your cruiser , you hardly ever see a police car over moors just a lot of sheep. I was over the Yorkshire moors last year at a place called butter tubs pass it was that high riding along it I was going dizzy amazing roads. Look up some videos of butter tubs
It's a brilliant name!! I was riding through Yosemite last year and it started to get so insanely high and narrow and deathly sheer drops....I was feeling quite sick (I hate heights) then I thought...I don't need to do this, it's horrible. So I turned around and suddenly I could breathe again!!

Well I love old photos too...he took some really interesting ones during ww2 of ships and submarines being blown up. There's some of US troops building a bridge. Lots of the ship's big guns and of him jauntily smoking his pipe!!
