Try speakers, they serve your mood influence. All is a distraction, the question is how much of a distraction establishes a dangerous turning point. I hate headsets of any kind, because I have to use them too often and long in my job. I want no intercom, as I ride solo and when with friends, it‘s good to talk when stopping, not on the ride, no need, a quick sign and things are clear. I need no navigation or phone to talk to me while riding, and I need no isolation from my surroundings by ear-plugs. So a definite NO to intercoms. I share though the music influence you describe, but I use speakers for that.
Ahhhhh....I should have said...intercoms play music too and that's the only thing I use mine for. I too ride solo so don't use it for chatter. And I don't use sat nav on a bike either...so yes, I don't use it socially. Do you mean speakers on the bike? That's rather exciting but then everyone else would hear it too and that would distract me even more because I'd think I might be being a nuisance!! Thank you for your comment!
@@lionheartmachines2193 you‘re no nuisance and you‘ll be surprised how low level they blast music away from your bike, as they are directed to your ears/head. There are nice ones for bikes. I have a big fairing bagger so those are integrated. I never needed them as a naked bike rider any time before (thought it‘s stupid), but now having them, they help me get the bike lane-spliting even in the most angry and tight situations, I just dance the bike through and blockers are just smiled and „danced“ away, or to concentrate in difficult road sections, aside from just getting into the right mood. I know Intercoms play music, too, but I want my ears free of isolating buttons, knobs and if safety wouldn‘t stand against it, even helmets. So if there are intercoms that are not plugged into or onto your ears, that‘d be interesting, otherwise, I like the speakers. When I share my music, they barely hear it - riding, only on stand still and then it‘s actually no nuisance, but fun. Back on a naked bike I have no urge to add music to it, it‘s just a comfortable feature, but a pleasant one.
My intercom is on the outside of the helmet with just tiny thin pads on the inside tucked between the cheek pads, so they don't take up any room. I like the idea if I was playing really 'cool' music all the time...but it could be really embarrassing sometimes. Some people get offended by the maddest things. The first night I was in LA I was sitting by the pool having a cigar and there were a group of people there playing gangster rap (I didn't like it getting into my head) so I put on ZZ top so i couldn't hear their music. But....then they asked me to turn my 'red neck' music off! So bizarre... and of course I didn't!
music-on-the-move has never really interested me, as all the sensations that the bike, riding and the scenery provides are enough stimuli, ...please dont add speakers as someone has suggested! 🤦♂️😅 that just makes everyone (majority) look at you and think "what a ****!" (Not that those type realise or care!) ...some like extra stimulus and some like less, I consider myself lucky to able to satisfactorily play the best parts of the music I want silently in my head if need be 💁♂️, I do like intercom during byway riding with friends but usually ride alone, intercoms have come a long way and the giveth and taketh away from rides I think!, I love how much of an individual free spirit you are, and yet people are still trying to give you advice all the time 😅, you should be giving them advice to break the mold and stop parroting party pooper ideals, lol! 👍
Firstly about people trying to 'give me advice' (in real life) well really it's telling me what to do...odd how people try and bully me sometimes... that's how it feels..I wonder if it's because I'm so polite! Really I should just tell them to bu**er off (don't know if RUclips considers that foul language) but I just smile in a weary manner! As to music in my head or out of it...I may start singing a song in my head but then it turns into thinking too much about something so I like the music. Sometimes when I get off (for petrol maybe) I forget I've still got my helmet on and I behave as if I'm on my own, talking to myself. Anyway, thank you very much.
A word that people who try to tell us what to do don't understand is freedom, keep enjoying your sounds!
That's very kind of you and yes, I think you're absolutely right. Is it just me that people try to tell off (for some weird reason)? Or do you have that too?
