Why didn’t anybody ask Polaris why they made everything on the clutch quick release, but then added 5 bolts and nuts to the top half of the cover?? They even had hand turn hose clamps on the intake duct. So close to a win!!
I actually asked this question. The answer was, clamping force. They needed the 5 bolts in the top to insure the belt housing was sealed. The cut away model actually had all quick release belt cover fasteners. They’ve done extensive testing on this very thing. The fact is, if they all where quick release and someone had water get in then everyone would say it was a poor design. Finding a balance between form and function isn’t always the easiest but at the end of the day the clutch is sealed and the bolts are easy to access at least.
