I've been pushing for an anime for the Zero series for so damn long. Closest we have is the drama tracks, and those just show how much potential can be had

Did he mention the reason they fought X in the first place? Forgive me if I just didn't hear it, but its worth mentioning that the reason that the Neo Arcadian forces were oppressing the Reploids was because the human utopia that Neo Arcadia was supposed to be was still ravaged by the aftermath of the Elf Wars, and the Energy Crisis caused lots of social unrest, and Copy X blamed the crisis on the Reploids and began to execute them in order to harvest energy. Furthermore, Ciel was the result genetic engineering to create scientists specifically to develop better reploids. She happened to be a prodigy and created Copy X when she was 6, but when she was 9 she escaped Neo Arcadia with reploid refugees once persecution of reploids had begun. The guilt from having created the very source of their oppression, and sympathy for what she had been born to help lead her to create the resistance fight the Copy X regime.

yep she was, these are from the official books and drama CD. Apparently at the end of megaman X6, after zero was seal by an ancestor of ceil, they began to research Zero's body to create an anti virus against the ZERO virus aka sigma virus aka maverick virus, the result of these research is more advanced reploids as well as mother elve, the antivirus program created from zero, after that. remember, more than 60% of human perished in the elves war, to replenish population, they can only genetically modify human traits so mentally, and psychologically, these humans mature faster. At the age of 6, the then X, sick of endless fighting with mavericks caused by the insane mother elf program, now known as dark elf, decided to seal her, but all method failed until X decided that his own body's limitless potential could probably seal it, at the top of yggdrasill, the then young Ceil witnessed the whole sealing process, the process was so violent that it split X body and mind, The copy/imitation/evolution ability of X split into 4 and became the 4 guardians, the mind became cyber elf X, the main body became the seal for the dark elf. The process was carried out in secret for obvious security reasons, so that no one will ever come close to the dark elf again. The official statement was that X went missing, which is kind of true since X's mind/ main program is now a cyber elf that wanders in the cyber space. The genius Ceil, saw the process and was able to reverse engineer X by rebuilding a New body, the perfect copy of the original X. Remember, Zero and X are technically not reploids, but original androids, the term reploid is the short term for REPLica andrOIDs. X and Zero are therefore the ancestors of all reploids. The only problem is X and ZERO are so advance and complex that no one ever came close to recreating the perfect android, which explains why zero in the zero series is heavily nerfed as compared to omega zero. And why it is such a huge deal for Ceil to be able to recreate a perfect copy of X. Back to the story, When copy X was created, Ceil could not find the soul of X, which is refering to the mind of X, the cyber elf X. And neo Acadia is in dire need of leadership, so Ceil created a new mind program as a temporary place holder till the original Mind returns, however that never came true, and copy X was doing well at first, which is why the official no longer feel it is necessary to locate the mind of the original X. SO why was copy X so flawed??? When the original X was first built by doctor light, X was put through a 100 years(meant to be 30 years but unfortunately light passed away and he was locked till doctor Cain discovered him) of computer simulation to develop X's moral codes and values so that he would be better equipped against robot influenza(The original form of Zero/Maverick/Sigma Virus that turns machines maverick created by doctor willy) . Copy X never went through such extensive period of testing and personality and character development. Which is why Copy X's world view and moral values became twisted and flawed so easily. It's kind of ironic that Willy started the whole maverick bullshit with ZERO to fuck the world up, in the end ZERO became the one that puts everything into order and saves it, zero became the one that fullfilled doctor light's dying wish.

Ok, you are glazing over one major plot point - the fact that Zero has amnesia and doesn't remember anything from the X series or the Maverick Wars.

The Body is a copy, the soul is supposedly the same (it never 100% confirms that, even Zero mentions that he doesn't know if he actually is the original Zero.)

I remember reading something years ago that Dr. Cain from the Mega man X series fell ill, and his brain was placed in a Cyborg until a cure was found. Somehow the cyborg was infected with the Sigma virus and drove Dr. Cain insane.
The result turned Dr. Cain into Dr. Weil. Correct me if I'm wrong, but everything I found points to it.
Ozymandias it seems i heard that as a fan theory but there is no source for it. it also doesn't help that dr. weil was originally human and there were no cyborgs until sometime after zero 4-just humans and robots

Basically what the zero series did was unite the three into a single cannon like its own universe.

Maaan I remember playing this back in high school and finding Zero, in this series more than ever, very inspiring for not caring what anyone thought about him. Sometimes it's not about the process; results are what matter!
So this is the story of how Megaman and Zero finally 'died'.
In one timeline. The X series games split at MM5. Zero series continues from the the outcome in MM5 if you fail to shoot down the colony falling to earth. MMX6 continues from where you shoot it successfully. So yes in one time line yes.
sagetheinferno That’s not true. X6 retcons X5’s multiple endings into one weird fusion of them all where some aspects of all the endings are canon. There is no timeline split until after X8, which either leads to X6’s ending where Zero seals himself and leads to Megaman Zero or leads into Command Mission.
The irony of Zero was that Dr. Wily created him. Zero only briefly met his creator, as we saw in MMX4. But he only vaguely remembered it. Not that it would have mattered, Zero is a good guy through and through! Very strong sense of duty and justice! It's safe to say had he met his creator he would have been looking to bring him to justice - and how. You could say Zero earned Dr. Wily the trope "Nice Job Fixing It, Villain!"
Dr. Wily created him for revenge, destruction and dominion. But instead he fought for justice, peace and truth.

Well it was bound to happen, It happened with the first mega man, then X and Zero. But in Zx he still lives on and X, plus the guardians. And Model O or Omega

I like it when you guys put it all in one episode. It easier to just listen to the entire series in one sitting then wait for parts and forget some of the details

I'm well aware his Japanese name is phonetically "Vile" and thus it does make a certain degree of sense that Weil _could_ be pronounced W + Vile, but I have never seen any source that pronounces Wiel as "While". I myself had always assumed it was Wiel simile to "wheel", with the Wi an obvious nod to the original series antagonist and creator of Zero, Dr. Wily.
Satoshi Matrix Vile and While typically have the same end sounding.
True that I cannot fully confirm it myself, and I have unreliable sources like Mega Man Zero the Last Cataclysm, fanmade animation, and I'm aware Capcom has no official english version of Mega Man with voices to confirm how "Weil" is pronounced. I've always thought it was pronounced "While" and never have I thought it as "Wheel" because for 1) It sounds weird for a villain in Mega Man unless it's got some pun or hidden meaning, and 2) My first Mega Man series was NT Warrior, so it is safe to assume I thought Wily, "While-lee", derived from Weil, "While".
i know this is a year, but Weil is supposed to be Vile, which is also confirmed in the MMZ remastered tracks drama clips involving Weil. It's basically how Germans pronounce the letter W like a V.
Great video, but there is a little more to the mega man zero 3 storyline than you mentioned. (yes, I know this video is 2 years old, and no, I don't care.)
the fun part is that the megaman ZX series is basically what's next after the megaman zero games as "model Z" is the conciousness of zero sealed on a device that would let humans or reploids aquire the powers knowledge and fighting abilities of the hero's conciousness in this case zero temporarily and so another war is set and along with vent/Aile and his old friend X now being "model X" to stop the "Model W" from getting humanity and reploids extinct

I've been following you from the Comicstorian account a lot, and while I had heard of this one, I never imagined you had so much stuff on the MegaMan series O.O
This is a pretty great basis, although it leaves out the fact that zero has amnesia, Nothing before Zero 1 is remembered (Maverick wars & X series). This story does pick up though, in ZX & ZX Advent. ZX takes place 200 years after the events of Zero 4. Technology has picked up, human & reploid civilization is starting to thrive. Although that's for another day - Where is Zero? Did he survive the crash? What exactly happened after our screen faded to black?
Capcom never answered this unfortunately. We do know that both Zero and X are in the ZX series though, known as biometal - which stores the data (personality, battle data, etc.) of a reploid or human. Zero and X no longer have bodies so all of their data was put into a Biometal, but by whom? Along with the other biometal in ZX we have returning characters from the Zero series.
Model Z - Zero, Model X - X, Model F - Fefnir, Model L - Leviathan, Model P - Phantom, Model H - Harpuia, Model W - Dr. Weil, and Model O - Omega.
We have one more that appears in ZX advent as well, Model A - which is a tribute to Master Albert as a backup personality, not Axel from the X series.
Although we have no clue where Biometal go after the events of ZX advent, I would love to know where they are in the Legends Series.

This quality of story telling, but with the original X and Zero designs and free roaming adventure. Also, with the same heart of the X 1-4 games.

No, it's apparently set thousands of years after the ZX series - which was never completed as ZX: Advent ends on something of a cliff hanger.

yes things get a bit choppy with x6 x7 and Command mission it's just due to mutiplur reasons mostly due to more then one writers and different ideas of were the plot should go but no there isn't a split
yeah megaman legends is in the same timeline, but thousands of years into the future, when humans fled to space and sadly gone extinct, only bio androids exist in megaman legends, quite sad to be honest, the entire megaman legends 2 plot is to stop the protector of humans from recreating humans, yes he wanted to kill all bio androids, but still, u can't just let humans go extinct like that

Hey, what happened to Megaman X 8? I do remember that after beating X 8 & sitting past the credits, you'll see some messages talking about copying reploids was shut down for a moment & after some time passing or years later they resumed again. We also got to travel on over to Megaman X Command Mission. Many people didn't like it do to it being the 1st RPG game & was a spinoff to the series but it Force Metal. These Force Metals acted similar to Cyber Elves enhancing powers & such. Heck, We also have to take in consider with Megaman Battle Network games. I haven't really played any of these games to the fullest but the time spent on some of these games back in the past really dealt with a lot of cyber space stuff which made me to believe that this is this the game series where cyber elves was created in. The biggest question to most of the Megaman games out there is this, how come in some of the games we was actually told a area or city name where the bosses are located at like for example Megaman X 3 Doppler Town, shoot pretty much the only town name I can think of. The rest just had a map like Megaman X 1 & 2 where you see the area & then see the flashing dots in the area when you select a boss to fight. Jump up to Megaman X 7 & 8 you get a world map that scrolls around different areas in the world to get to the boss. Go all the way back to original Megaman games, all you get is just the boss face to highlight & that's it. Even Megaman 11 still does that. Don't really know if its the same city or state they're in still. All you get is the boss face & a picture of how 1 area of the stage will look like. Dang, didn't mean to get carried away like this. I was suppose to be just commenting on some missing link parts that could've lead to Megaman Zero series but started drifting off & going on about how many of these Megaman games tends to not mention a city, same city or not. Before I go, I still get hung up on this sometimes. I'm not sure if Megaman Zero series came before Megaman Battle Network series of after. I do know that Megaman Zero series came after Megaman X series & Megaman ZX series came after Megaman Zero series. With this, I'm off. I spoken too much. I might find myself doing reviews 1 day.

Good job guys. Simple story intro's for newcomers who wanna know how awesome the megaman saga is, in a nutshell. Just a suggestion though, it would be awesome if you match the footage/pics with what your commentary :)
This series was a good idea, but it needs some polishing. The theatrics were a bit much for me too, but maybe that's a personal thing. Anyways, check pronunciation, put in the effort to get good footage, and you have yourself a video worth a thumbs-up.
Chaos Xeloc Yeah, this narrator has a voice...for the deaf. He should try voice-work in cartoons, not 10+ minute videos of reading a wikia page in an obnoxious voice.
Important question! I have read on many platforms that X along with Zero have fought Omega, thus ending the Elf Wars and then they both went to sleep. But haven't X told Zero that he fought for another 100 years after Zero went to sleep? Like, Zero was never fighting Omega. In fact, he always WAS Omega and the one that woke up was the Copy
Omega is Zero's original body and the Zero you play as in "Megaman Zero" is the original Zero with a new body made to copy the original. X did not go to sleep along with Zero. He continued to lead humans and reploids after the elf wars and created Neo Arcadia. However, he eventually sealed himself away to keep the dark elf in check. So without X around to lead Neo Arcadia, Ciel created copy X to lead Neo Arcadia, but he began to kill innocent reploids in the name of peace for humanity. X's body is eventually destroyed by Elpizio, but he lives on as a cyber elf. X never really explained to Zero the events of his past, but he did tell him that he is the original. To quote X "It's the soul that counts." Also X sorta told Zero that he did in fact fight Omega a century ago when he was fighting Omega in MMZ3.

2:10 believe it or not copy X was supposed to be the real X because, that's what the creator wanted but, the people who were making the game knew that people would get mad if the original X turned evil and you had to kill him so they just changed the story a little and called him copy x near the end.

Errr, while a lot of it seems to be a summary(no mention of who the 4 Guardians were, ect) the entire thing was very accurate except for one..tiny..thing. The MMZ series is not connected directly to MMX5/6's ending with Zero. While yes, this was considered the original ending that Keji Inafune had in mind to lead to MMZ, with x6-7-8 the story was augmented. If you listen to the RTRZ TELOS Drama Tracks 01 by Capcom(it's in japanese but you can probably find a translation somewhere here on RUclips), Zero actually survived and lived with X to the Elf Wars and aided in the first sealing of Omega. Zero's original body was taken by Dr.Weil and he created Omega with it after corrupting the Mother Elf into the Dark Elf. (I assume Dr.Weil got ahold of Zero's body due to him going into sleep either around X6 or after CM, however since Zero is present in all games leading up to CM I generally assume it's after CM to make some sense of the other games to fit them into a nice timeline[which also aids in explaining the ZX series]) Anyways, because the world needed help, Zero's brain was transferred into a copy body where he fought alongside X, finally finishing Omega together with a Final Strike(Again since this attack appears in the drama track, it leads more evidence that this is after X8). Afterwards, Zero is put back to sleep due to taking major damage and isn't revived until Z1.

Zero did die at the end of Z4~
Otherwise, this is a very nice summary of the Zero series as a whole and I find it a lot LOT more accurate than some of the other vids I've seen around here. ^_^)-b

err copies are not 100% accurate but not completely wrong either. the best way to understand it is that the consciousness of the heroes of old were housed into the bio-metals that are used in ZX save for like the Model Ws.

After the end of Z4, Ceil as acting guardian leader discovered Model W and using it as a base, created the Model Z, X, and the others to help combat it before disappearing, eventually starting ZX. Allouette more than likely took over command and changed her name to Prairie(This might have been because of the laws that were put into place by the Sage Trinity) and generally started ZX~

Just saying but there was a decent bit of info left out, the video basically only tells the exposition and ending of each games, and I'm really suprised that he didn't mention how the 3 guardians die to omega explosion in MMZ3 and don't appear in mmz4

awesome videos!! i was looking all over for an understanding of the mega man series from beginning to end (except all those non-related titles and the battle network series)... i had read that the zero from mega man zero was a different zero and that would have actually killed the series for me. good to know its all been connected... however, I am still a bit underwhelmed that the game is called Mega Man and that he is dead by now...

If you think about it these games are riddled with Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep vibes, in relation to having empathy for beings that are deemed by society as "evil" and "without empathy," when in reality the humans are the apathetic ones because they care little for the lives of the reploids.
