    Clearing up some things in this video.
    1. I had no idea about how to pronounce Weil since these games don’t have voice acting, I just have to make it up on the spot.
    2. I said I thought the final boss was easy, not because of cyber elves, but because the weapons were just that powerful as is, like charging up a recoil rod and bouncing on Omega’s Head.
    3. Does it really make a difference if Zero’s mind is a copy or the same? Either way it boils down to the fact that he has MMX Zero’s personality, and not the body which means nothing since the mind is what matters which is all I cared about, not the tiny details.
    4. I wish the game stated that the Guardians died, would have closed their book more conclusively.
    5. I have seen the fan made Zero vs Omega video, it’s excellent!
    6. All these official remixes are from “Mega Man Zero mythos” or just Mega Man Zero remastered ost.

      Well, the pronunciation of "Weil" is considered by most to be a German pronunciation based on Japanese naming trends and conventions. The actual Romaji is "Bai" "Ru", which immediately demonstrates the usage of the "B" sound in Japanese speech to mimic the "V" sound in European speech. Additionally, it's actually quite common for Japanese naming conventions to gravitate toward the European pronunciations of words shared throughout Germanic and English languages. For instance, if you see a character profile of a European or English character with a "J" name in English, you can almost guarantee that the Japanese text featured alongside the English text will present a "Y" pronunciation; easiest and most relevant example I can think of is "Julius" from Castlevania, with the Romaji for his name coming out to "Yu" "Ri" "Asu" I believe.
      Anyway, I think the conversation more important to the average fan is: does this characters name imply anything about either Wily or Vava/Vile? While the similarity between the Japanese pronunciation of Weil and the English rename of Vile is almost certainly negligible, it's still at least a bit possible that "Weil" could be an intentional combination of "Vava" and "Wily". That being said, I would also have to say if this is the case, it's almost certainly more for storytelling purposes than any sort of literal implications. Although, if we take the idea of Wily's spirit using Repliroid bodies, as suggested by Isoc in X6, which is also the game that contains the first official part of the Zero series storyline, as well as looking at all the situations and contexts provided in just the first three Z games alone, it's not even a stretch to fit in a scene of ghost Wily finding a broken Vava, etc. I would add that the implication of the Zero series presenting the mirror image to the relationship between Light and X throughout the X series is certainly compelling. I think, ultimately, from a directorial standpoint, it was an intentional decision to present an element within the story that would inspire the sort of conversation I've tried to represent here amongst the fans.

      i'd say the difference between zero being the original or a copy is important, after all you kill copy X in the first game, while X is still around, and they're fairly different personality wise, pretty much different characters.
      plus it'd open the horrible horrible doors of "there may be a million copies of zero laying around" (memories of shadow the hedgehog intensify)

      I guess this is a tiny detail for you and probably for everyone but I wanted to say this. It was said that Zero mind or brain was transferred away from his body cause they didn't want anything to go wrong with his mind and did that as a security measure while they were researching why the Sigma virus was acting differently for zero while analyzing his body for a possible anti-bodies which eventually lead to the Mother elf's creation. Skip forward during the elf wars Ciel's ancestor eventually made a copy of zero's body to help X fight Omega and end the war which after that Zero tried to seal himself again.

    You know, there's a strangely poetic beauty to the way things worked out in the ending. Zero started as a force that far surpassed X who sacrificed himself so X could move forward, and if you got the best outcomes in X2 and X3 then Zero was revived by X and Zero again put himself in harm's way for X's sake. This back and forth between them was a constant theme up all the way to X6. Now we've come full circle with X having used whatever energy he had left to ultimately sacrifice himself for Zero to move forward.

    I feel like the reason why Zero 3 lacks the star system (aside from the system being a bad gameplay mechanic), is because now that Zero has a stable place to be, he can just maintain his skills. In Zero 1, you could use the hyper sickness excuse Ciel mentioned to where he had to relearn his moves. Zero 2 could be explained through how tired he is and how he gave up everything to fight in that desert for a year. It's not a great explanation, but it's something I think about.

    • @floricel_112

      um, maintenance. That's why the star system existed. Zero had been asleep for 100 years, and machinery doesn't work at 100% at first after booting them up in a long time. Especially in a cold environment, which I'm assuming an underground lab with some water in it would be. And in Zero 2, he had been fighting for 1 whole year alone without undergoing proper maintenance

    The Zero we play as IS zero, the same as the X series, when he first sealed his body so he could help stop the sigma virus his "mind" was removed to protect it (coud be considered the X6 ending route) then eventually around the Elf wars, Weil obtained the empty body and placed a new consciousness, Omega, inside it and then built the giant omega body around it. Zero's mind was placed in a new spare body (built by Ciel's ancestor) and helped X defeat Omega and banish him and Weil, after that. Zero decided to seal himself again, forever, this is how he ends up in the lab in the gba era, still in his spare body but with the very same soul inside him

    The game is designed to discourage you from using most of the powerups though. Any fusion elves you use permanently incur a penalty when you finish a level, so it's pretty clear they don't want you to use them. They're there if the game is too hard for you otherwise, and the result of using them is that the final boss becomes a pushover. This game has a lot of optional ways to make it easier and taking them really does do just that.

    • @01ChaosWarrior

    • @UltimaKeyMaster
      @UltimaKeyMaster 5 лет назад +50

      I actually think you're just plain wrong there. Zero 3 *ENCOURAGES* the Elves. Why? Because all of those Fusion Elves you complain about not being allowed to use? You can still use them. A lot of the Fusion Elves that aren't one-time effects can be upgraded into Satellite Elves. All of the Life Up/Double Life ones, extra projectiles, move alterations, all that stuff can be tacked on and swapped out at any point.
      You're only penalized if you just absorb all of the upgrades permanently. But when you can decide on a longer life bar or extra versatility *at any point* you have no excuse to dump them all on your body unlike the first two games unless you REALLY need those extra subtanks or the max double life bar (which is beyond overkill in any Zero game).

    • @Teknanam
      @Teknanam 5 лет назад +41

      Final boss is a push over even without the upgrades. First 2 forms are jokes barely above the first Omega fight and Omega Zero just gives you too much room to run around considering the boss doesn't have a lot of moves for controlling space or enough movement to quickly and unpredictably get to the player. He's a lot stronger in Megaman ZX since they drastically reduced his recovery between moves, allowing him to more relentlessly attack and fill the screen with projectiles while rushing you down.

    • @Jasza676
      @Jasza676 5 лет назад +41

      In my opinion that is one of the major problems with Zero series design. There are two mechanics in the game that completely conflict with each other: ranking system, and cyber elves.
      The game features an expansive system of upgrades in the form of cyber elves and makes it a major selling point, yet at the same time promotes getting a high rank, which means not using cyber elves at all. Game basically says "here is a new cool system to play with; however, I really don't want you to use it and I will slap you if you do".
      In Zero 1 at least because ranking gave no direct reward one could kind of ignore it and just use whatever (though because cyber elves were grindy as hell one wouldn't be able to use a lot of them anyway). But the problem became more severe in Zero 2 when they introduced EX skills. One system of upgrades negates access to the other one, the other one requires not using the first one... borderline idiotic. Zero 3 continues the same problem, although the nice addition of satellite elves which do not damage the ranking slightly circumvents the problem. Though we still have this ~woo cyberspace woo, look how cool it is~ which the game added, yet punishes the player for using any of those (also, data discs can't be found while in cyberspace, which is silly)!

    • @UltimaKeyMaster
      @UltimaKeyMaster 5 лет назад +11

      In my opinion, Zero 3 handled this as perfectly as it could. Taking the easy way out and using methods to permanently use upgrades or temporarily become a friggin' god chipping away at your rank being balanced by being allowed to always swap out which ever abilities you wanted at a certain time. It's like DMC's ranking system, only a less lenient in that it's more temporary boosts like healing items that damage your rank instead of permanent upgrades.
      My personal opinion, though...the fact that permanent upgrades keep a permanent mark on your Elf score does counter-act the system. If you wanted a high rank file, actually using the permanent upgrades bricks your run just because you wanted the bigger health bar or sub tank.
      Hell, I forget if these two are still in 2+3, but there are two 3rd level Elves in one that, on top of the Nurse double HP gives you permanent double defense and a permanent spike blocker to cover up many spike traps. That's QUADRUPLE HP and removing spikes, but if you dare use them, you can't New Game Plus a full set of S Ranks.
      I mean, I guess it's fair to not have Ultra Easy mode let you get S Ranks that way, but it's an equal punishment to just having 4 more HP as it is the double HP, which seems unfair. If they were gonna have permanent upgrades hurt your rank all the time, *let us turn them off* and give us a measurement of how many points we lose with them on. Heck, as a totally random comparison, Forza Motorsport tells you exactly how much bonus or negative credit you get by turning certain assists on or off or adjusting the difficulty. We should know ahead of time how much we lose going in with certain upgrades and be allowed to turn them off without having to start all over.
      Although the funny thing about all this is despite seriously NEEDING them in Zero 1 more so than the other games and despite grinding them being so much of a pain in the ass that finally getting to wreck everything might not even feel satisfying...Rank does nothing but let you get the single useless Elf behind Ciel in the mission room. All that effort for the ranking system and that first game just makes it bragging rights.

    Out of the entire Zero series, Mega Man Zero 3 is not only the best game in the series (not to mention the entire Mega Man franchise), but has quickly become one of my favorite video games of all time alongside the likes of Super Mario World, Super Mario Bros. 3, New Super Mario Bros, Super Mario 64 DS, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Sonic Advance, Sonic Advance 2, Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2, and the entire Super Smash Bros. series. I have already played through this game five times and I'm currently on my sixth playthrough (3 were done normally and 3 were done on Easy Scenario), and I have already become good enough to get all the EX Skills (on Easy Scenario, anyway, since I used too many Cyber Elves and went into Cyberspace too many times on my normal playthroughs) because this game is so well designed that even newcomers can breeze through the stages once they get used to them. Between the solid gameplay, the good level design, enjoyable bosses (Omega Zero is one of the best final bosses I've had the pleasure of fighting against), and an amazing soundtrack, I can safely say that I completely agree with you on everything you said in this review, and I wish more people would play Mega Man Zero 3 because it is that good of a game.
    On a side note, am I the only one that thinks the Rolling Cutter is slower in this game and in Zero 4? It's still a joy to use, but it's nowhere near as fast as it was in Zero 1 or Zero 2.

    Q&A excerpt of the Zero 3 remastered tracks CD
    Sound crew interview:
    Suzuki (Character Designer): Up till now, we've been answering the questions, but now we have one for the sound team. What you tell us about the speech of Omega's third form?
    Yamada (Sound Director): It's "Ware wa messhia nari!" ["I am the messiah!"] It certainly sounds like that "I am God" kind of speech, something a terrorist or anarchist or someone like that would say, doesn't it? I think that's the kind of impression we we're trying to give. It's not the speech by itself alone that holds significance, however, if you could express Omega's brutality and ferocity and everything into one line, that's what it would be, right! By the way, what's the creation story behind the personality of Omega form three?
    Yabe (Background Designer): Omega form 3's personality program (cyber-elf), was programmed by Vile to be his messiah. Though, as to Omega form 3's...Original Zero's personality being completely Vile-made, I couldn't say that.
    Ito (Series Director): I can't deny the possibility that the original personality that "a certain doctor who tried to take over the world innumerable times" created for Zero was remaining in the body, and that side of the personality having won over.
    Yabe: I guess we're entrusting everyone to use their imagination (he laughs).

    Just a quick recap. Zero's new design is canon. Dr. Weil stated that he upgraded Zero's body. And in that timeline reploids had been streamlined to looked more human then they did before. Also it Ceil's ancestors had managed to finally figure out how to analyze Zero and X's body which was something that couldn't be done in the X series.

    • @vksasdgaming9472

      I think Dr. Weil did not have expertise enough to upgrade Zero's original hardware, but certainly had enough skill to repair its damage and restore personality to its default setting: KILL. Maybe to add some safeguard just to stop it from killing him as well. Ciel had enough skill to replicate X's hardware, but it happened after Elf Wars which are perhaps most

    • @yujirohamna2430
      @yujirohamna2430 3 года назад +2

      @@vksasdgaming9472 according to weil himself he did have the expertise and all he did was upgrade Zero's body which is true because enhancements had to be made to be able to sync with the mother elf. But Weil and Ceil's ancestors where the ones who finally figured out how to scan X and Zero's bodies completely and figure out how they worked. That was actually what made Zero and X so difficult. But Zero's new copy body was stated to be a near perfect copy. Due to the energy crisis Zero probably lacked Bassinum which was an infinite energy source so they probably couldn't make an exact copy. But yeah Zero wasn't a mystery anymore.

    Out of all the Megaman Zero series games, Megaman Zero 3 is the best.
    It got me fully invested that it made me
    -get all S ranks in all missions(that means no fusing any Cyber Elves until the final stage to ensure that I get that sweet S ranking)
    -collect(and evolve) all cyber elves(Pokemon style)
    -collect all abilities(which is easy because getting S or A rank grants you the ability of the boss of that stage)
    -collect all secret disk(the secret battle against Phantom though, whack!)
    I still remember my favorite set up
    Quick Charge Head chip(Auto charge ruins my momentum whenever I just wanna dash and slash enemies)
    Normal Body chip(to keep that nice red color)
    Ultimate foot chip(obviously, the most broken part of all)
    And the final Boss Omega, ohh its a blast to go against him.
    Omega is more aggressive and annoying in ZX though, he is faster, always trying to get close and if you manage to get some distance, he fucking heals himself!
    Nevertheless, Megaman Zero 3 is the best of all 4 Megaman Zero games.
    I hate Megaman Zero 1 though, its full of grinding in a game that shouldnt be focused on grinding. I was forced to take on and clear the final stage with literally no enhancement on my body parts nor any cyber elves to aid me. I did beat Copy X but with only 1 hp left.

      In hindsight, Copy X wasn't actually very difficult even with no upgrades. The main issue was the amount of pressure from the design of the boss stage causing you to mess up a lot. It's super trivial in comparison to Gunvolt's final boss, especially with the conditions for the true ending.
      Also I found that Model ZX was the easiest to beat Omega with. Mostly because I got REALLY good at pressing any combination of buttons at any time so I was prepared for anything he could dish out and could kill him faster than he could kill me.

    The title of the video is saying what I was saying for years. It even beats Megaman X IMHO.
    Btw. the Guardians canonically die at the end of Zero 3, because the Mother Elf didn't save them for whatever reason (Zero 3 was supposed to be the last game of the series and that's sort of a plothole).
    Also, it isn't official that Omega (the new personality in Zero's old body) is actually the Zero Wily intended to create all those years ago. It would make sense, but it's still a fan theory, he could as well be a new creation by Dr. Weil
    Zero 3 most likely has the best stage tracks, but as much as I ADORE Cannonball, Judgement Day, My Fellow and Everlasting Red (Credits Track), Theme of Zero - X, the Legend - Area of Zero, Departure/Awakening Will and Straight Ahead - Falling Down - Esperanto/Holy Land in Zero 1,2,4 are also absolutely amazing, so they don't stand out that much.
    Going to Cyberspace pretty much ruins your rank, yeah (except that one time when you can fight against *******). But do you know what doesn't effect your rank? Satellite elves! One health bar extension and one regenerator made A rank SOOOO much easier than in Zero 1 and 2.

      Because Omega explodes. Yeah, it doesn't make too much sense. Some fanart showed the Guardians as Cyber Elves watching over Zero in Zero 4, but Inafune officially stated not even that is canon, so they basically disappear. IMO the one big flaw in the narrative of Z4.

      And for while Mother elf didn't save them....Well the Guardian protect Zero from explosion, so they take the full force while still heavily damage after their first fight with Omega. In audio book , it say that both Fafnir and Leviathan are in coma for the entire story until near the end when X wake them up and sent them to help Zero.

      Zero 3 was going to be the end of the series. It was essentially gonna be left like the classic and X series essentially incomplete. But Zero 3 was so huge, its story was so popular even if it didn't sell and Dr. Weil was so hated that the public demanded that Dr. Weil be killed off and the Zero series reached a conclusion. So Capcom was forced to create Zero 4 as a grand finale.

    I don't think it's entirely fair to complain the bosses are easy when you went out of your way to make them so by using elves, which the game already punishes you for. They are balanced towards players trying to always keep a high rank, not brute forcing.

    Omega is Zero's original body with the recreation of the Zero Virus personality( with some tweeking from Viel) Zero's original memory and personality Core was transferred into a copy body by Ciel's grandmother( who may or may not be Aila) as both bodies are nearly identical baring the Mutos reploid upgrade( yes the art change does denote the advance in tech) so in essence Zero vs Omega is Zero vs his inner demon. Silver Wolf, Sand Triangle, Ice Brain, Passionate, Flash Back and of course my favourite, Gravity. It just triumphs the more midi flat sounding songs of 3. I do love Old Life Space and Reborn Mechanics of 3 though, they're more groovy and have a good sound but I don't think even those compare to 2's gold.

      All of 2's First, second and third set of stages slap hard where most of 3's like WaterCity, Volcano, Endless Fight, Pandemonium just often feel like they could've been developed a bit more.

    Something I found frustrating about the cyber elves is how they lower your rank when you use them, meaning you are getting punished for using power ups that are a core element of the game. And also, the fact that they die after getting used is pretty cruel.
    The satellite elf system in Z3 allows you to use certain ones with no penalization at all. And the cyberspace system implies that elves don’t truly die, they retire to another dimension after not being physically tangible anymore. That’s pretty much what happens to X until his AI gets stuffed in Model X.
    Sorry for commenting to much. I just had a lot to say about the game.

    Welp, after all those years I still think MMZ series is underrated. More people should know and praise these artworks.
    A few points to improve the information you provided in the video:
    - Using the cyber space severely reduce your ranking. Using cyber elves reduce your ranking too. If you use permanent elves (gaining hp or creating a sub-tank), your rank will be reduced on every mission onward. Believe me the final boss and especially Phantom is not easy with no upgrade at all.
    - on the first water stage, it's actually a chasing stage, which you need to press 4 switches before the boss reach them. If you do that successfully, the boss fight will have no water and the boss basically have no mobility at all (imagine model L fighting on land). I recommend finishing this stage early, as failing to press the switches greatly hurt your rank, which will be impossible to recover with later mission.

    • @TheMati2214

      Well with Phantom you have the advantage of being in Cyber-Space, so you can have long double healthbar and so on. That is if you have elves to begin with. This is also interesting because if you fight Phantom while doing the mission, your mission points won't decrease from using cyber-space, which is a nice addition for me.
