First Congrats for your great tournament!! Big oss. And for your question, you know... Control of distance when the opponent begins to try to pass. With De la Riva hook guard I can control that better, and change it to the hip to triangle or omoplata attack... thanks for share your technics ❤ Regards from Argentina

Thank for that amazing video. My problem on that is when my oponent gets on far knee and close space between close elbow, close knee and close the space for the la riva. Then i feel i have to go for lazzo set up

Coach from a far, I say this all the time and you’re probably getting tired of hearing me say it, but your instructions have elevated my game significantly. One thing that’s happening is people are starting to grab my left foot (the posted foot) with their left hand. I can sometimes wiggle it free, but sometimes the grip on my pants is strong, and they attempt to pass on my left. Do you have any suggestions for when that happens? Thanks again for sharing!

thank you so much, you can put lasso or spider to keep them from pass to your left side, (remember one thing when your guard is open) ALWAYS have your legs over their arms never under so focus on this Everytime your guard is open bring your leg over the arms thats it you will play guard longer BIG OSS

    Note for self:
    Troubleshooting Collar Sleeve Guard:
    1. Deep collar grip
    2. Hip movement - keep our hip parallel to the opponent whenever they circle around
    3. Distance management - Don't overextend our legs
*if the opponent pushes our far leg down between their legs: shallow lasso, and push them out to regain our foot*
    4. Control the posture - deep collar grip and pull the opponent's head down to control their posture
    5. Guard retention:
    a. Early: Shallow lasso, then regain collar sleeve guard, or switch to De La Riva guard
    b. Late: Heisman escape

Thank you for this video! What kind of options do we have to attack in the omaplata side (besides omaplata)? Also, what if the person is pulling back and standing up?

With a deep collar grip is there an easy way to pull your opponent in and hit a cross collar strangle and you break his posture??
