Love ya Jack Jack lol
So... No joke... You are the one of my favorite people to watch I watch you more than others and its because you remind me of my sister who unfortunately passed when i was younger and you make me laugh and smile and also know not to get certain crafts that is crap. I literally saw one in walmart my husband said what about this one and I said "in the trash" and he understood what I meant because he watched you too
Hi
He jackie how are you doing did your back surgery help is it still the same hope your having a great day
Hey Jackie, how is your back, how are you feeling, how is your mental health these days?
Im an art therapist and kinsugi is often used in art therapy, for a similar reason as the quote you use, "Broken but beautiful" :) To break the cup easier, I would recommend putting it in a terry cloth to disperse the direct hit. I like this series!
Oooo never heard of an art therapy! Sounds cool
What is art therapy?
Yeah what is an art therapy? :)
Broken bit beautifull reminds me of mangle from fnaf
Oooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhh
If you want to use food-safe glaze, those generally need to be heated in a clay-oven with waaaay higher temps. The paint in this kit only needs to be baked in a regular oven.
Not to mention the small print could be skipped over easily. The box could be thrown out before being FULLY read by an adult and a mistake can happen. Seems dangerous to me honestly.
that is so true especially because it is 8+ they probably won't be looking at the fine print on the box
Most likely they didn't want to deal with FDA to get it approved for consumption. The fact it's glazed and the paint is non toxic most likely it's safe but the company is covering their butts just in case.
AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN.But then, I think everything is
Adults need to read it before buying for their kids.
Its nontoxic which means its typically safe but has a small chance of being dangerous. The fine print is just to protect the company if anything happens and a parent tries to sue
It's probably a leaded glaze, Jackie, meaning that if you use it for anything even mildly acidic lead will leach into whatever the dish is holding. This is very common with ceramics from China, and a big reason to be careful where you get your coffee mugs from. Had a bird get lead poisoning from this once, since the food bowls that came with the cage were this same sort of material. Even with medical treatment, he eventually died of it.
OK, I know this one! There's a legal difference between "non toxic" and "food safe" getting the "food safe" grade is much more complicated and very expensive for paint manufacturers so a lot of them don't bother.
It's fine to drink from, if you are worried, just avoid painting the inside of the cups and teapot where it touches the tea. But really, there's nothing dangerous about drinking from dishes decorated with this type of paint.
Can this kit be sold in California? Then it's fine
😮
@@mamesmck5236 Don't know if you meant me, but I once trued to order a lamp and was asked if I were in CA, cause the paint was illegal there!
Yeah, when I saw the gold paint I was like, "Red flag, red flag! Unknown metallic component!" You don't want that touching food or even to touch it and then touch food. It might only be aluminum, but aluminum still leads to Parkinson's disease in large quantities, so don't be fooled about safe metals. (Or maybe it's white lead and aluminum. I don't trust the paint in cheap craft kits. Too many recalls.) Heck even water can kill you in the wrong volume.
Thank you for explaining
The purple dragon represents the hot water and the green is the tea! So cute!
Food safe and non toxic aren’t the same thing. Based on everything they say, it is probably they just don’t want to have a child try to paint 3/4” or 2cm from the rim.
A kinsugi cheat is to use a dremel and etch lines into the piece and then paint them gold.
That's what I was thinking that it's cause the paint isn't food safe! Thank you!
But she said the paint is not the issue and is labeled as food safe. I guess in case of user error you are right and they just labeled it as not safe just for sure.
@@Favilein paint is non toxic. she didn’t say it’s food safe
@@alexpapageorgioy5698 ah. True. Sorry
Also, for something to be marked as food safe the entire production line must be certified, not just the materials. Certification is expensive, letters on a box are cheap. Same reason alot of stuff is marked 3+ even if it does not contain small parts or toxic materials.
You are very creative. We are blessed to get someone like you
😭❤️
"Are you a coffee or a tea person" - The answer is just "YES!"
My taste in coffee changes by the day, but I love jasmine tea and hibiscus-infused teas!
lol
It's so nice to see you sculpting again! I hope you are hurting less!I have missed crafty Jackie!
Watching Jackie try and piece the cup back together I was like, "Ah yes...Archeology simulator"
Lol! I studied anthropology and archeology but never field study 🥲
@@nerdecrafter Why never field study? That’s the best part!
@@nerdecrafter oh that's so cool
Tea drain ended up green and purple like Zach and Wheezy from Dragon Tales 😆 That brought back so much nostalgia! Thanks Jackie!
This series is gonna be good
Yeah it is
Yes if she lives from that toxic? Teapot lol
Ikr lol
Yasssss
Yeah it’s going to be good!
Honestly I love both dragons and tea pot sides. And the way you decorated the tiny tea cup to match is super cute with the tiny horns of each dragon
A lot of glazes used for ceramics have lead in them. When you put lead in ceramic glaze it makes the glaze glide over the piece evenly when fired. For thousands of years people put lead in ceramic glaze because lead has amazing coverage. But only recently we learned LEAD IS BAD!
All is correct, except the last bit. We've known lead was toxic as far back as the Elizabethan period, possibly longer, I just know that era for sure. The Greeks knew quite a bit though, so it may have been known for longer. Vanity and superficiality prevented people from removing it from products though. There weren't a lot of alternatives, especially for things like white makeup, that gave the same quality as lead, so people kept using it. In the 19th/20th century, it was cheap and after industrialization, corporations wanted the cheapest options, regardless of their affects on consumers. A good example of this is lead paint and wallpaper. It was assumed it'd be fine because people aren't wearing or consuming paint. The problem with that is, children have a tendency to lick/try to eat pretty much everything. They touch walls, then stick their fingers in their mouths - this was not taken into consideration. We also have known arsenic was toxic for decades, but it was quite a while before it was removed from paints and dyes. Changes tend to not happen until government entities get involved to force companies into doing what's right vs what's cheap and/or easy.
@@Amarianee Correct! Do you watch Victorian Death too?
@@lazyhomebody1356 hmm, I think I might have, it sounds familiar, but it would have been a be while ago. I read/listened to "Victorian Secrets," narrated by Stephen Fry a while back, and I regularly watch Ask a Mortician, and she covered this as well.
@@Amarianee Ah, Caitlin!
I don’t think for this set they used lead because it’s touted as “non-toxic” and it’s for kids.
I've waited ages for you to do something like this. Fixing the bad craft kits! LOVE IT!!
Due to what you said about the paint, i’m assuming the (very small) warning on the box is because of the glaze/glass. If it’s glazed, the glaze probably contains lead or other dangerous chemicals. If it’s glass like you say, although it’s way safer than glaze, glass can still have small amounts of chemicals (usually cheap glass the manufacturer’s use) :)
The paint is not food grade paint.
@@roseabee7503 true it could be that too
@@seiyuokamihimura5082 I didn’t ever say they weren’t safe for food use, I just said that chemicals such as lead could be present.
But yes I agree with the acidic point
@@seiyuokamihimura5082 Yes! There is that famous radioactive red glazeMartha Stewart collects it and rolls her eyes when someone says it is dangerous. She seems fine
@@lazyhomebody1356 Yes, there is a red glaze made with uranium. (Fiestaware). After it has been fired it is actually perfectly safe to use! Only becomes dangerous if the glaze is chipped and the dust from the chip is allowed to enter your food.
Most glazes are nontoxic when fired because they create a fused silicon layer, and most are made with relatively nontoxic pigments to begin with, such as minerals.
I love both sides of the teapot, it is absolutely awesome & I love dragons too so you’re not alone on that 😻🥰😻🥰😻
"Every tea set needs a dinosaur" was my kids favourite quote from an episode of Peppa Pig back when they were toddlers... a dragon is close enough!! 😍
Something tells me they put that warning to not use it on there to cover their behinds, just in case a kid uses it and gets sick and mom and dad decide to sue them.
That's a really good point
This would be my guess.
Jackie: adds sprinkles
Moriah: *so proud :')
If this is going to become a series I already know I’m going to love it!
Jackie you are incredible I have just recently started my own channel and I am so inspired by you. You are so talented and funny and have awesome ideas! Thankyou from all your veiwers!❤️❤️❤️
This sounds fun. Perfect to watch this while my sculpture is baking. 😊
@《IamChaos》 It came out nice without cracks. A little more work before I can paint it. 😊
Can I just tell you how much I adore you! And Sika! And Birb! You’re helping me get through a tough time right now. I watch you then take a small break to get a task checked off my list then I get to go back and watch some more. Doing this helps me tremendously!
Thank you 🙏
I love your dragon pot!!! So cute. And of course, black tea is “evil” tea…dark and bitter, like my soul. 🤣🤣🤣
I would have honestly been surprised if they put in the extra money to make everything food safe. This is the perfect opportunity for them to bring down the production cost a lot while keeping the price expensive - relying on the fact that people will buy it and only realize it is decoration too late. 😤
Anyway, I am really happy to see a more traditional crap kit review from Jackie again! I love these videos the most. And it's even with a side of crafting!
*RE: NOT FOOD SAFE*
Hey Jackie,
Having been in the ceramic business, I suspect the glaze (stuff that makes the yucky gritty pottery, shiny and smooth) contains lead. There are definitely food safe glazes, but like everything that's better, they're more expensive. That said, to my knowledge but not confirmed, you'd have to actually eat the stuff in large quantities to harm you, but they have to cover their as**s in case someone does eat them!
I highly doubt that a kids craft set which they might put sweets or juice in contains lead. That would be incredibly irresponsible and illegal, and that tiny bit of writing on the back wouldn't cover them for lead poisoning lawsuits.
@@Emma-ex8gx I wouldn’t be surprised if it did. Claire’s sold poisonous jewelry to kids so…
They wouldn't be able to put "non-toxic" on anything containing lead.
@@_.-._.-. yeah probably not lead, but maybe some other low-temp melty material that makes it stick to the glazed ware. LOTS of ceramic glazes contain metals and minerals that are unsafe to breathe and ingest (in quantity) until vitrified in the firing process.
@@_.-._.-. actually they do in pottery glazes. Food safe and non toxic are different as non toxic CAN contain lead, and other metals that can and will leach into acidic foods and drinks, like coffee ect. Pottery is actually pretty complicated when it comes to the science of getting everything right for it to be food safe :)
I love when you did thrift store makeovers! I hope you do them again some day
Omg this sounds super fun, so exited to watch the video!❤
Agreed
Ohhhhh yeh! ❤ this customisation. Awesome creativity. Can't wait for more. Oh, and I'm a coffee person,,,, love a good Brazilian 👌
I love how you took this to the next level and then beyond! I've bought paint for ceramic cups like those and they were ok as long as painted parts didn't come in contact with the mouth or the food/drink. As this is for 8+ I think it's a question of rather safe than sorry. I love both tea (cherry or peppermint) and coffee (with milk or a caramel latte) depending on mood/time of day.
I've seen all the craft-e videos on the channel. I will never have enough to satisfy my craft-e itch. I love them!
Most evil tea here would be the Macchiato loose leaf tisane from the back of the tea cupboard. Not only is it three years past its best before date, but its ingredients are: rooibos, maté, cocoa beans, chocolate, coffee beans, and natural flavours. Bring on the caffeine surprise from the "herbal tea" aisle.
A teapot like this should absolutely be functional!!
You should do a lead test on it to see how bad it is.
So cute! Here in Bergen, Norway there's actually a tea boutique called "The Tea Dragon"!
As for Evil Tea, for me the worst would be black tea with coffee flavour. I don't know if this exists. It shouldn't. If it does, I wouldn't want it anyway!
But I do know that there is chili tea. And since I'm a total light weight when it comes to chilis and hot spices, I would consider it a quite Evil Tea!
So you probably wouldn't want the "Macchiato loose leaf herbal tea" I dug out of the back of my cupboard, then. Best before three years ago, its ingredients are: rooibos, maté, cocoa beans, chocolate, coffee beans, and natural flavours.
Jackie it's fantastic to see you sculpting again your health I hope is slowly improving so you can get back to doing more of the crafting you love to do and we all love to watch. Loved the two headed dragon teapot.🤩😍 A great idea and it worked out so well, thanks to the baking gods. Look foward to seeing more this year.
I love your videos Jackie ❣️ We love you Jackie, Patrick, Jessica (Sika), Splinter, Ramesas, Angel (Birb), and the rest of your family ❣️ I hope You are all doing well ❣️ Thank you for all of the videos that you work so very hard on for us❣️❣️❣️
These are my favorite types of your videos. Makes me want to craft watching you.
Can’t wait to watch another one of her amazing content!!
OMG ! TYSM!
I think this looks like moriah and jackie it's really nice!!
They more than likely didn't want to pay to have it certified"SAFE"for food and drink, especially for children! SoOoOo they just need to make it a decor piece vs ACTUAL dishes and saving themselves thousands!
What surprised me though 😏 is you didn't say anything about the fact they didn't use photoshop!
Lol BuUuUuUt AnYwAyS XOXOXO from Florida cutiepatootie 🤗💗✌️
No only that but they’d have to pay more for the glaze that would need to be used that allows it be safe
I love tea so much, I used to drink Earl Grey on the daily but now I've been really enjoying mint and fruity teas 🫖
I'm a tea and coffee person. I like well rounded flavors, especially a nuttiness when it comes to coffee and black teas. I like to drink both with creamer and milk. I also like some green teas, though I am still needing to taste more to know which version of teas I like the best- but I know I prefer things that have a more floral/fruity/sweet taste to it rather than teas that taste more veggital.
I am an absolute fan of peppermint pomegranate acai tea with a small amount of honey. So soothing for a sore throat, but also amazing for just relaxing.
Hey Jackie. Love you and your videos. They always make me smile, especially at this moment. About a hour ago, I stupidly tried to retrieve an item from outdoors, slipped in the snow and ended up on my buttocks. Needless to say, I am one big OUCH, but nothing is broken so there is that. Your video is helping take my mind off the OUCH. Anywho, misleading info like this irks me too, especially when kids are involved. A kit like this should use food safe products or specify in large markings that it's not food safe. Oy. As for coffee or tea... I'm a tea drinker. Coffee is 🤮. I like all types of tea but my favs would be: for iced tea, Sweet Peach; for hot tea, Citrus Spiced or a good Earl Grey w Honey. Mmmm 😋
I am excited for this! Coffee drinker all the way with a side of tea.
I’m so glad you notice the small prints…especially when it could be dangerous. Personally would’ve overlooked it. On a happier note…bring on the “quirky” salt!! 🧂😁❤️
I'm so over the moon you did this makeover. I've missed these so much. I'm not a fidget toy kinda gal. I still enjoyed them immensely and were fun. I know your health takes a toll on you, but your beautiful creations are my favorite videos.
The reason they say it’s not safe to actually use is most likely it’s due to the *paint* rather than the cups/teapot. Bc you have to use specific food safe paint or seal it properly to be safe. If you use the proper paints &/or sealer they would be safe to use.
I personally would do a chameleon on the teapot and snake or boa on the cups to match the theme.Jungle vibe tea set sounds so fun!
Only unglazed pottery has that chalky feel, these are glazed but the glaze may be nonfood safe according to package, or unknown
the pot turned out beautifully! i do love the craft videos... it IS why I started watching you... the salty craft.
I’m so confused by a full tea set that can’t be used for tea. Who came up with this idea 😂
Ikr?? Makes me salty!!
It's for children's pretend tea parties just like those kitchen play sets for kids. This is something my daughter would love and I too would have loved this as a kid. She has already picked out a plastic tea set she wants for her birthday. Children have a lot of fun pretending and using their imaginations and sets like this help them do that without the mess.
@@rachelshaferly5524 Still, with a set that costs 30$ but only serves the same purpose as a normal/cheaper plastic set, just a waste of money for me, especially, since you buy it for children to have pretend tea parties
Lawyers
✌🥰 dragon is cute but salty. Love it! Putting this set on my next holiday list. Probably a load of clay and new paints.
If you’re looking for an “evil tea”, and if you are going by just the name, I would think that Dragon’s Blood Tea would fit the bill nicely.
I like my tea and my coffe black like my soul .Hahaha
Makes me so happy see you sculpting again. i hope you get better todo all your projects and more again.
My theory on the tea set is it’s the paints and C.y.a for them
Welcome back Jackie I hope your vacation was rejuvenating you were missed this is so cute
In all likelihood, the warning is in case a child has a bad reaction to not-cured paint. A lot of pottery glazes also contain lead, which, if not properly applied and fired, can seep into food and drink.
That teapot turned out absolutely adorable
I love this channel so much especially Jackie 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
I'm totally a coffe person but enjoyed tea also on several occasions. And I love jasmine tea. It was smells really good and make me relax ❤️❤️
As for the glaze there are different ones. One for deco items and then for food. So, I guess it is a glaze for deco items. I like Earl Grey tea, but I also love flavored coffee, like peppermint mocha, but others like cinnamon bun.
Thanks Jackie, my family is sick, and I am happy to watch. I hope you are blessed with many spoons.
Cant wait to watch the full video! ur videos really help me through my tough times. :) love u n take care !!
Hugs
Thank you NerdECrafter for making these videos! Love your videos! Keep being awesome!
I love this take on crap kits. Really enjoyed this verses calling companies out (although that is good too, just too tired to be starting revolutions 😀)
LOL
This is the stuff I live for from you, Jackie!! I'm a coffee drinker, I have trouble tasting tannins I think, so tea mostly tastes like hot water to me. And OMG Jackie, no, that's not how you break stuff. For a start: SAFETY. Wear glasses or safety glasses! Gloves are a good idea too, but covering it with a cloth is even better to stop chips going everywhere! But the end result is super cute and I look forward to your kintsugi experiments.
hey love your videos so exited for this!!❤️❤️
I love how Salte can smile and frown at the same time
Edit: I was also instantly worried that the paint wouldn't stick on that smooth a surface
Love the dragon! It's giving major Zak and Wheezie vibes from Dragon Tales!
My Friday is not complete without the trio: Moriah Elizabeth,Nerdecrafter Jackie & Graveyardloon
Both, I LOVE coffee any coffee!! For tea my favorites are Bangle spice, with a little honey and a squeeze of lemon, and sun tea with a hint of sugar and lemon.
Love the new series! I'm very excited to see the next episode, you can always do cool things using craft kits, despite they are crap.
I love both! Tea and coffee. I'm partial to pecan maple coffee, or just plain coffee, tea really depends on my mood but it's usually just simple black tea.
Definitely a tea person. I have this raspberry and white chocolate dessert tea, and it's amazing!
With that teapot, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. I don't have a favorite side, I just love the whole damn thing!
Nice to see you actually do CRAFTS again.
I was watching less and less of your channel because you had gotten away from this kind of thing.
I actually looked for your channel today and was surprised and glad to see a craft.
I'm a tea person but I do like coffee. My favorite tea is jasmine, my favorite coffee is latte macchiatos, especially with hazelnut flavoring
More often than not, we do tea in the mornings, but we love coffee, too. PG Tips is our go-to black tea…
Oh meh gerrrrd!!! The dragons are soooo cute… I mean dark… and cute 🥰 cannot choose a side, both are great!!
Can’t wait for more of this series 😁
I love both tea and coffee! But coffee is for mornings and tea is for relaxing in the evenings. I think my favorite tea flavor is mint, but I've recently been exploring new flavors as well
If I didn't have a bunch of projects I am already working on, This video makes me want to buy a full size tea set and make it into my own
Thank you for a craft project! 👏👏👏 I like the sweet side. It goes best with salty personalizes! 🎂
Jackie the builder, can she fix it ?
Jackie the builder, YES SHE CAN!!
Shout-out to Bob
I did not expect a double-headed dragon on a tiny teapot, but I am not disappointed =P
Loves the aizawa doll peeking behind the pillow
I love the end product of both the tea pot and the cup 💖 the horns on the cup is such a cute idea. Also- honestly the creature reminded me of Zak and Wheezie from DragonTales
I love all kinda of tea and coffee. Preferably cappuccinos are nice, or herbal teas like peppermint or chamomile 🍵☕
I'm a tea person, I love teas, I have at least one cup of tea every day, if not more. It's routine. I drink all sorts of teas, but one of my favorites is Black Raspberry.
😱😳 OMG!!! That turned out cool as hell. Jackie you are so so talented 😍. I love your work and I 💕😘 love you.
“Includes everything you need”

I use to love tea as a child but now I have the occasional drink, but oh me gosh I love coffee it's heaven
In my opinion and liking id say, I like coffe over tea. My favorite coffe is slightly dark, with lots of sugar your regular day to day creamer milk and some flavors like irish cream etc. Thankyou NerdECrafter for once again making my day lovely and of a safe place. ^^ ✨😊
I have the plague (literally) and am so physically ill right now. I cannot describe the absolute joy at waking up today to see there was a video. I didn't get around to watching it until later in the day (I basically just sat and stared at my lunch/breakfast for three hours and tried to force myself to eat cause my meds require sustenance but even looking at food made my stomach hurt) but your videos make me so happy. Thank you for doing what you do. My bad health days are numerous lately and your videos make it all a bit easier to manage.
Hope you feel better soon !
@@jooshungerecker-debruin5812 Thankyou! I spent the entire week unable to eat much cause everything I ate hurt my stomach. I would just sit and stare... I'm proud to say I ate a whole lot of Chinese for lunch and a giant ribeye steak for supper. I actually felt nearly human today.
This series is so cute! I love watching you sculpt! Can't wait for more :) Sweet side is my favorite!
When I was in school and took pottery ... I made this awesome working dragon teapot ... The head was the spout and the handle was the tail ... It came out so cool ... I absolutely loved it
