Today I am testing some art and craft kits I found on Wish, these kits were a lot of fun and definitely surprised me...were they GOOD or BAD?
Wish is a super cheap website where you can find pretty much anything...I used to buy a lot of art supplies, some were fake, some seemed real, some products were really cool finds, so I wanted to try some art kits from the Wish app to see how they were!

The bath bomb ingredients are actually standard for making those things and fairly safe. Sodium Bicarbonate = Baking soda. All of the different colorants are standard as well. That scary warning is to make you aware that these raw materials can be irritating. Diluted in water, they become basically harmless. You just need to be aware if you have specific allergies. 👍 Not all chemicals are bad. Science is good.

That is a great point Crystal. I have had issues with baking soda being an ingredient in deodorant. I do use baking soda water to clean my hair though and have not had issues with it as a hair was for 7 years, including rinsing my hair in the shower. Some parts of the body are quite sensitive and others are not as much. Watering it down can dilute it to small amounts and would likely be fine compared to rubbing deodorant (a baking soda mixed paste) directly onto sensitive skin. On the other hand, my husband is allergic to avocado (not latex), which is often used in toiletries. A small amount can trigger an awful rash for him and he has even had issues with me using it. We cannot buy anything with avocado oil in it as he gets a rash. I love ingredient lists and they are important for people who do have issues to judge if they should try the product or not.

To clarify - as someone who works in the toy industry -- Things like 'Red 7 Lake', etc, are just names of pigments! No more dangerous than a pigment you'd use for art. They're safe for kids over a certain age, so there's no reason to be concerned about them :) (Unless you plan on trying to eat them, but I think even the kids who these kits are aimed for are smart enough not to do that!)

@@dawnchesbro4189 If you're putting in enough dye that it stains your skin, you're really doing it wrong. Most soaps and bath products have dyes in them and haven't ever heard any case of someone getting a tint to their skin because of the dark swatch of red 40 in their candy cane soap bar, or the blue in their dandruff shampoo.
Same how most food dyes don't make your tongue change color because they're used in moderation, or how you can rinse off the residue of hard candies if they get wet in your hands.
A bathbomb would have to be solid dye for it to make bathwater stain the skin. That's entirely not the issue at all.

The ‘paper wrapping’ is called ‘Quilling’. It is a very old craft (as far back as the 1500’s). I did it for many years when I started making cards in the early 1990’s because back then making cards wasn’t a ‘thing’ like it is now, so you had to make your own embellishments. It was my way of winding down after work, plus I was able to sell what I made.

To Chloe and everyone else complaining about the contents of those bath bombs, those are normal ingredients. I find it rather disheartening that instead of doing a quick search on the items included in the kit, you immediately treated them as dangerous and disgusting, despite every ingredient listed being approved as safe for cosmetic use, with wide use in the bath product industry. While I wouldn't generally suggest dyes without doing patch tests to make sure you're not sensitive, all of these warnings are perfectly normal for a kit like this meant for kids. The "may cause skin irritation" is because you are working with powdered acid & base (citric acid & baking soda) and those if left directly on skin (not when diluted in bath water) can cause irritation, much like citrus juice can. The acid & base are what makes bath bombs fizz, much like a baking soda and vinegar volcano.

@@petiteflower5259 It really baffles me. I understand the "official" colour names can sound intimidating, and that the warning of irritation on a skin use product can be concerning, but one would think if a person was concerned about an item's safety, they'd at least Google it or something.
I've seen Chloe use far more hazardous products on this channel, so I definitely didn't expect her to be so put off & concerned by some common pigments and pantry items. Even if it's just for dramatization in the video, the comments here show just how influential her opinion (despite being outright wrong, factually) is.

I don't see anything that makes this kit particularly unsafe. Baking soda is a base and can cause irritation to your skin. Citric acid is an acid so it could cause irritation to your skin. But after its dipped in water they dissolve and chemically reacted with each other, creating neutral chemicals, water, salt and carbon dioxide. It is a fancy way of adding epsom and fragrance to a bath. Even the dyes you described are just food coloring. You can get these ingredients from the baking aisle of your grocery store. Mix them in a bowl with a whisk and mold them in some clear craft Christmas bulbs to make more. I have done this with my children since they were 4 years old and never had an incident.

The labels are non legible by the machines so people have to hand key every single package. Plus, some of the packages where smaller than the palm of my hand. The machines aren't made for something THAT tiny. Apparently when they remove the belts, they find packages that fell between the belts. I'm glad that was only a temp job but it did teach me a LOT about how to pack things correctly because there's many ways for things to get squished.

whoah that quilling kit is amazing for how cheap it is. The first kit I bought was from Michael's I think, and it had a little book and maybe 50 strands of paper, the quilling tool, tweezers, and a needle tool and a little plastic box to hold it all and that was like.. .$20? Yours had WAY more paper and tools!

No Chloe It literally never would have crossed my mind to put the paper swirls on a painting like that I think it added so much to that little ornament and I love it and would buy that

Could you make an Amazon wishlist for yourself? And maybe add scissors on there so I can buy them for you. I know all about not having enough scissors, so in my new space I got a lot and friends gave them as a gag gift. But as a result, every room has his own scissors, and my craft space has about ten. I'm never looking for them anymore, because they're everywhere!

The So .... DIY range is actually in department stores, they've got bath bombs and slimes and other similar kits (like terrariums). There is both an aromatherpy and geode version of this bath bomb factory kit currently available at Kmart Australia for around AU$25. You can get single "mystery" kits (surprise colour/scent/weird rubbery charm) if you don't want the gimmicky machine, for around AU$5-6. Similar pricing for their slime kits.

Nice kits. Sometimes I see kits at Target or Walmart and might try one eventually. I also still have my fizzy paint and animal candle craft kits.
I’ve done a tiny bit of basic quilling on greeting cards. With hearts, you can also curl both ends in opposite directions most of the way and then bend the center into a V shape with the curls pointing toward each other.
I can totally relate to losing tools or part of the project I’m working on when I JUST had it.
Also, now that you’re tried quilling, you should try quilting.

If you eventually want to put mod podge in the bottle just squeeze the opening of the bottle and place the opening in the mkdpoge and then stop squeezing. It will suck some mod podge into the bottle. I know it's not as thick, but I use this trick with travel size lotion bottles so I can refill them when they run out and i'll keep them in my backpack. But mod podge will work the same way.

Esp if it's banned in ur country as possibly unsafe I thought it made perfect sense. 💜 And they came out great btw! normally they fall apart or don't fiz etc so good job.
And thank you for doing the paper quilling kit! I've always wanted to try that. 😊 Great video!

I know you have painted in children's coloring books, but have you ever done a paint by number? I don't know if any other artist has done it, but I found a couple that I still need to finish and thought it would be really cool to see how an artist paints it!

    OMG the twirly papers things!
Last year we had an art project where we picked an artwork by Alphonse Mucha and had to fill it with a bunch of those
Due to covid we had to DIY everything (I taped a paper clip to a pen) and the most time consuming part was to cut all the paper in strips 😭
These tools and board would've helped a lot lmao

Wasn't Better Help known for being a scam?

    • @LunaVespertine
      @LunaVespertine 3 года назад +1

It’s not really a scam, but they did have some issues with unclear/possibly misleading payment plans and also some privacy issues. Basically, they presented payment plans but would then take the whole fee upfront, which was not clear to a lot of people. Also, it was pretty much impossible to verify if your therapist was actually a licensed and trained therapist. They did say they changed things, but not sure if they actually did
