I love watching these type of videos. What I particularly like about your channel is the fact that you give a breakdown of your costs including the original purchase price. Thank you
Thank you! I know some of these I have way too much money into restoring, however I'm really not concerned about the cost. I just enjoy the restorations.
Chip I believe it was a T-6 bulldozer on a tilt trailer. Tonka set 134. Bulldozer was green, tilt trailer was yellow. www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/tonka-ford-dump-truck-trailer-479681303
I'm going through your channel again, giving likes and comments to everything I've watched, because you need the love and boosts for the RUclips algorithms.
Really nice job , it turned out great. If you spray white paint on some card you can carefully dab each tyre on like a print and it replaces all the lettering. It would finish it off perfectly . Very well done .
This non-hydraulic dump truck also came in two other color combinations: an earlier red body with green bed and a later tan body and tan bed with a white cab. This turquoise and yellow combo shows up in the 1964 Tonka Look Book. Suggested retail price was $4.00 which is about $34 in the year 2020. It would be cool if you restore all three color combinations.

Nice Landscape Service dump truck. I have the trailer and loader for the set, but have been unable to locate the dump truck. Nice restore and great find.
One other suggestion @ 20:10, I have noticed you are using Green Stick to polish the nickle plating jobs. You will get a brighter finish using Jeweler's Rouge in stead of the Green Stick. Jewelers use a three stage process to get rings and other metals to "brighten up", white, green and then the rouge. Yes you will need three separate polishing wheels to execute the stages properly...
Suggestion at 8:34 with the tail gate. I know your attempt was to preserve the "Tonka" stamp in the tail gate, hence the pieces of wood, but you could have also taken those same pieces of wood and temporarily hot glued them to your vise jaws and used the vice to straighten the tail gate from both sides by closing the vice jaws with the wood, rather than using the hammer. Also I think in the instance of the dump-truck bed, you might have considered making a modification to the tail gate latch. Bending the bed ribs is a pretty risky move when you are going to have to bend them back after powder coating and ruin the paint job on the (fold lines).
I have one of these dump trucks in nice original condition. The cab is red while the dumb bed is green. I got it off of Ebay many years ago. Tonka's are nice to work on as many reproduction parts are available.
I love your work... I found your videos just a couple of days ago... Do you do any ones from the '70's? I would love to see you do some of those too... You attention to detail is awesome... Thank you for your videos... Happy New Year...
What I realized is that the 'Tiny Toons' characters; they're not the ones whose calling the shots, even though the 'Tiny Toons' characters they made the least amount of mistakes. In the future; Bugs bunny will be nothing, compared to Ren and Stimpy. These guys are like, cartoon characters that are from the pit of hell.
I love your videos but sometimes you get a toy with such awesome patina that it's almost a shame to restore it. This was one of those toys. I'd pay more for it as it was than I would restored.
Press in and backwards on both posts. If they are stuck wiggle them with a pair of needle nose pliers from the bottom. They occasionally get stuck on me as well. I've struggled with them for quite awhile sometimes.
I had this very model of truck when I was a kid. And to think….these toys were assembled manually, by American workers. Robotics weren’t such a thing back then.
All of your videos we restore cars I have one you probably don’t have a met hot wheels old fashion model T rice crispy‘s truck and it’s black it’s in good condition I’ve had for years nothings wrong with it I also have a speed racer from the old speed racer shell that’s still in good shape but I got a whole bunch other race cars from hot wheels and see if you can find a old fashion rice crispies track and restore it to work color it wasReturned it looks pretty good I like your cat your cat is a little smarty-pants is it cat tested before you put that out there in your account here she likes to supervise it sitting here to make sure it’s up to his or her standards
Hi I have been enjoying your Chanel and seeing you make my toys new again so I well blame you for having to bye some tools but I am a tool whore any way seeing you do this it is not hard to do l do have most of the tools in my shop now now the brass tacks of the email is where do you get your parts if you don’t mind me asking if not I understand I do love your work thank you
You did a great job on the truck but from now on file down the back lift rod to make it round (safety) like you put the black tip on lift rod for the dumpster part. Even if the parts doesn't originally come that way. It puts a nice finishing touch to the truck.

@@ChipChannelRestorations Could I ask where you were able to find your replacement parts?
@@darrellboyd Gasoline alley.com if you google search them they will come up.
@@ChipChannelRestorations Thanks, I've got a few Tonka Toys I want to restore myself, but I'll need parts.
I like the old rusted one as well as your restored one. And I like that you painted it the correct colors. Very nice.
Thank you very much!
My brother had this Tonka dump truck in this color combo. It came with matching green bulldozer and trailer. Great job.
Thank you! I'll have to see if I can find a green bulldozer and trailer to restore for it!

Dude, that would be AWESOME! Thanks for sharing this fact and idea!
Showing my age here, but I remember my nephew getting this for Christmas. He loved it. Beautifully restored!
I love this video because you go after the bed-wall metal standards. So far I have not seen another. I assume it was welded and not riveted together.
Hours of fun for those kids that love playing The Contractor.
Great video as always. At 2:48...looks like one of the tools my my dentist uses.
Awsome job nice skills thank you for sharing your talent with us

Fantastic job. I’ve been binging your videos for the last week. Really fun. Thanks for sharing.
Your videos are great. I'm into scale models, so I do it in reverse. I start out pristine then I rust it up.
Pretty cool to see the old tonka trucks based of a similar platform but all vary in models they made
Great work. Amazing attention to Detail
Thank you! I appreciate that!
Nice Landscape Service dump truck. I have the trailer and loader for the set, but have been unable to locate the dump truck. Nice restore and great find.
Thank you! I purchased this one at one of my local antique stores. Had to pay a little more than I wanted to, but it was well worth it!
I'm not crazy about the color scheme, but it is a perfect match to the original. So, perfectly restored with almost all original parts.

Marvelous job !
Another outstanding job.

I've learned that some rusty iron toy trucks; they take an awful lot long time, to get restored. All to be made as good as new.

8:25. Nice job here. Crucial to straighten the piece without flattening out the original raised Tonka logo.
You should paint the dashboard with a corresponding color and sign your name on the dash! Amazing work!!!!
Such a well made truck. Fantastic restore.

The the trucks restaurations are available for sale ?
Very nicely done. Are these for your personal collection
Thank you! Yup, these are all for my personal collection.
Another well-done blue-green masterpiece! Did it have a hole for a steering wheel?
Thank you for watching it! This one did not have a hole for a steering wheel, however it would look good with one in there.
Looking good but I have a question, where do you get the replacement parts like the windshields and such?
Thanks for watching multiple of my videos! Please take a look in the description of my newer videos for a link to vendors and part numbers.

When did Tonka stop using the whitewall tires?
Wondering where do you get that tool for the rivets ?An also the rivets.
The tool is called a PinTonka tool. You can get it on eBay or at this link www.arbortime.mountainminded.net/html/the_better_tonka_rivet_tool_-_.html

MASTER! it's high surgery!

The first resto I've seen where he didn't primer first.
How did you take the roof off where the window is Im fixing the same truck and its hard to pull off
