- The video I make the Tamiya waterline series 1/700 HMS Rodney, a strange battleship as part of the nelson battleship class that had all three 16 inch triple mount guns in front of the main superstructures.

Great work old mate, keep it up cobba
I learned a lot brother. I'm doing the Iowa water line series for my friend who's Grandfather served on her. I had no clue on doing the "diorama" of the ocean. Now I have an idea, u da mane, mane. I've done the Saratoga CV-60. I'm 12yrs old again, lol. Thank you brother. Carry on.
I'm definitely going to try your diorama method, It looks fantastic in 1:700.
Excellent ship build! The rigging and water came out amazing
Thanks mate, think I'm gonna have to build my USS Hornet soon.
Nice job
Nice model ship. I have problems finishing model ships.😂
great build look forward to seeing more thumbs up
Excellent build..!
Million thanks for sharing..
Great build and superb water effects!
Nice build
What a great little build video. My grandad served on Rodney as a stoker, I have just started modelling again after a 40 year break... I am veteran who is trying to get through CPTSD and modelling is a great way to just zone in on something that isn't the dark shit! I will be building a Rodney at some point and placing it with my Grandads medals and pictures from her as a presentation piece. Would like to start out on something small like this and then maybe up grade myself to a RC version in the future. Thanks for your build tips.
Looks cool.
Great build. Would 100% recommend you try an upgrade kit with photo edge parts
I looked at the photo etch upgrades but the only one I could find cost double the price of the kit. One day I'll make a ship with photo etch upgrades. Cheers.
One really good brand is flyhawk. They make Tamiya look like revell with how good their kits are, especially if you buy their deluxe edition kits. they only cost around 50% more than their standard kits(which are already cheaper than most tamiya battleships) 👍
@@redbaron7486 I really want to try a flyhawk ship but they are pretty much non-existent here in NZ, the ones I find are crazy expensive, which I can't quite justify yet for my skill level. When I get better at building ships then I can look at getting better more expensive kits to build to a decent quality. Most of the kits I buy are second hand from people reducing their stashes.
Would recommend ali express for buying flyhawk and trumpeter since they're Chinese brands. The shipping is quite alot though😅 but they do have a buyer protection program if anything goes wrong plus they're quite reliable in my experience, although I do live in the UK so it may be different in Nz
@@redbaron7486 cheers I'll have a look into that, hopefully make photo etch my friend not my enemy.
The superstructure is often referred to as the citadel 😉
i did a few waterdioramas. mostly papercraft boats. but i have a 1:1200 yamato fully rigged on waterline and a lil papercraft shiratsuyu destroyer (WIP and also gonna get as much rigging as possible), which shall make up a small diorama. on the boats i uses pva glue for a glossy shiny finish on the water. anyone knows if that would work at that scale either? or just go with paint and maybe gloss varnish.
I would go with high gloss varnish, and use as many layers as you can to build up the glossiness
This kits does not have the catapult with the supermarine walrus floatplane on the C turret.
Unfortunately to get that you need to get the PE upgrade kit, which I didn't want to, because it's more expensive than the base kit, and PE and I have a bad relationship.
I built this model when I was just 14. WW2 era British RN ships were mostly ugly imo lol. Ugly but interesting nonetheless! Rodney/Nelson are no exception.
Hey what paint did you use for the deck?
Tamiya XF-59 Desert Yellow enamel if I remember correctly.
Thanks man, I've been looking for a good paint for the deck!@@columbusmodels825
