A 1 karat princess cut and then .25 small diamonds sprinkled around the band. The retail price was $3700 but I negotiated plus there was a seasonal sale. I thought I got the best deal and if things wen south I could go resell for close to the price I purchased. Boy was I wrong. The appraisal certificate said it was worth $5000. I went to a few jewellers when we broke it off and I was shocked when they offered me $900. But after going to a few jewellers and a friend of the family he said never go by the appraisal sheet and also never buy from the big retailers. The mark up was ridiculous. I ended up selling the ring for $1000. I was so pissed off but a good lesson learned. Never go to Kay’s or People’s. 👎
Diamonds are not rare at all. Loose diamonds are almost worthless. Jewelers mark diamonds up 100x so don't be afraid to negotiate. That being said, I don't understand why this guy doesn't take the 5k offer and sells it to Moses instead?
