I finally got in to the media pit to shoot a band I've listened to for years now. A security guard saw me taking photos and invited me in without a pass. It was a huge learning experience and I've been motivated to get my camera in that environment as much as possible ever since. There's something special about capturing artists in their element both on and off stage, and creating your own art in the process. Thanks for posting this, its given me the motivation to play around with learning video alongside my journey with photography.
dude, this is sick. what an awesome story. I've definitely seen your name and photos pop up on my instagram, especially cause I love LANY. your photos are SICK. A year ago I slid in the DMs of a new local music venue asking if I could shoot some shows. Fast forward a year, Im now their house photographer, I JUST got brought on by a promoter to shoot a lot of their shows around FL--my home state, and artists are now starting to request ME. Life is crazy. I'm hoping to find a band to tour with soon aaaand maybe make enough connections to get out FL and get to Chicago or ATL or even nash. this is definitely inspiring me to tell my story. I'm scared I'll somehow jinx it if i make a video on it though hahaha.
I snuck my camera into a lil durk and kodak black concert. didn't plan on quitting my job to pursue this but here I am. lol. the pictures came out amazing so i guess I gotta keep going.
Dude I LOVE this video. This was super inspirational and I can definitely tell you’re a very humble person. I recently got off my first tour with Dean Lewis as their photographer/videographer. It was definitely one of the most memorable experiences an aspiring photographer can have.
great storytelling, super engaging video fr! all the coolest shit i’ve experienced in my life has come from when i simply asked or took a chance, it’s also so fun to look back and pin point a singular “fuck it, what’s the worst that could happen” moment
such a cool way of telling your story Trev! Not to mention your COUNTLESS hours of volunteering for church shoots proud of u homie pumped for the next video
amazing video Trevor! such a crazy story, I had nooo idea you started with LANY, what a full circle moment 🥺 I’m a live sound engineer and I’m getting close to internship season, it would be a dream to work for my favorite bands but I’ve gotten get better at “no shame in asking!”. DMs and emails have power I guess!
i shot my first show ever last month and it also was for an artist that i absolutely admire, i left the venue feeling like my life had just started, i finally understood what it felt like to know what the answer to that what do you wanna be when you grow up question was and it felt amazing. i got there by asking and asking and asking and talking to whoever i had to, and im so glad i did it. now i'm taking the courage yo do it again and get to shoot another show, i don't know how or when but i know i'll keep trying until i get to post a video like yours haha. this video is giving me lots of hope and honestly makes me feel more confident, knowing it is possible, so thank you. immediatly subscribed, i'll definitly be coming back for more. thank you :)
As someone who shoots EDM shows for a living, I absolutely loved hearing about your journey. I can totally relate to needing to sneak in my camera in the beginning of my journey to some places as well all the while being in school lol good stuff, great video, and solid content overall
hi trevor!! i just wanted to comment because this video was exactly the inspiration i needed :-) so happy that you get to do what you love everyday, to even better things in 2022!!!! x
I really enjoyed this video. I'm in college and am trying to enter the music photography scene. I have sent out so many emails, dm'ed so many people, and filled out too many forms yet still havent been approved for a single show. I know it takes time and i'm starting to make connections with people and am slowly seeing some opportunities come my way. I appreciated hearing your story and am excited to see where this slow but promising journey takes me! Thanks for a great story ;)
So inspiring, Trev! Thank you for taking us through this story & sharing your journey with us! Any band would be lucky to have you shoot for them. :) Keep it up!!
Thank you for sharing, super inspiring. I finally got offered my first tour opportunity at the end of this month and I can’t wait. I’ve done the same with sneaking my camera in and travelling around to build a portfolio and it’s finally paid off.
my best friends and i were at the charlotte show on the ggbbxx tour and it was my birthday and that night changed my life so thank u for that & everything
Thank you so much for sharing! This is so valuable!! I am going to see a concert in a week, and I’ve been watching as many concert photography videos as I can. Very informative.
I’ve been so lost lately and recently photography has been coming back to me which is something I’m interested and I just hope I get to figure out what exactly I want to do
This is really inspiring, the fact that you got to work with LANY ! i love them and their music so much I'm so glad you got that amazing opportunity. I tend to get really nervous or scared of rejection, but you just reminded me that in life it will always be about taking risks and learning as you go if you want to be able to reach your potential thank you for being so real. If you read this id love for you to help me out on what type of camera to get so I can go ahead and start concert photography. What type of camera and lenses did you start with? would really appreciate your help!
wow!!! remain humble and down to earth kind of, you inspire the others by giving bestest advice for work, a love for a job and being passionate. Brilliant idea! Photography is the most amazing thing nowadays, looking forward for more of your stuff. 👏🏻📸❤️
I just graduated college about a year and a half ago and I wanna start doing music photography. If you can make any more videos giving tips on how to get passes and just any tips in general with like shooting or anything, please help a sister out 😭😭 I’m a product photographer and I fucking hate it. I love music and live music photography just is something I love looking at and want to create myself. Thanks for even making this video!
I love how you blog with you iphone hahahha, i wanted to start blogging my self but My camara is not so good for video and seeing your video inspire me to just start doing it even if it’s with my phone because the content is what matter the most and your content was 10/10
Hi Trevor !! First of all, congratulations for your incredible journey!! I'm currently career shifting from a traditional marketing career to a photographer/videographer career, I wanted to have your opinion on the best camera for shooting concerts. I'm currently upgrading my gear and figured I'd just ask you what are your favorites ? Thanks :)
This is a very inspirational video since I’m looking to go into this myself and music is my thing let alone turning these moments into a beautiful picture or video is something I feel I would love doing. Do you have any tips for a starter camera? Someone suggested to me a Canon EOS 5D Mark 3 or 4.
Hey trevor, Such a nice and chill video :) When have you decided to charge for your work? I‘m also into concert photography and videography. Sometimes I‘ll do shows for free to add the pics to my portfolio. But when did you change your work to be paid? I‘d love to hear from you :)
i've only ever used canon, so that's my go to! i started with a canon 6D, & i highly recommend it! (i had a mark 1, but if you can afford the mark 2, go for it). canon 80D is great as well, and also shoots video. but just get what works for you and your budget! don't worry about gear too much until you feel like you really need to upgrade.
@@trevorroberts9170 thank you so much Trevor! I have a Canon EOS that I’m trying to upgrade because it’s kinda old so I’ll look into the ones you suggested!❤️
I LOVED your video! Immediately subbed and followed your ig. I specifically resonated with the part about not being afraid to ask people for opportunities online. I feel very inspired now to try and grab as many opportunities as I can, especially since I am on a music degree at the moment where my classmates regularly perform at the local venues
thanks so much for the battery. It is quite a grind. But as you said consistency and patience is the key to success. I followed you. @theminoritygallery // great work btw.
