I wish they would've shown a deck like this at the Pro Tour. OTJ has *SO* many powerful build-around cards which have created new decks. Simulacrum Synthesizer artifact decks. Rakdos Joins Up combo decks. Tiny Bones Joins Up crime decks. Terror of the Peaks creature combo decks. Even a new jund take on Aftermath Analyst/Worldsoul's Rage that leverages Pillage the Bog and Pitiless Carnage which they commented about *MULTIPLE TIMES* throughout the broadcast but didn't show. Surely some of these decks showed up to the PT in the _"Other"_ category. But what are we shown? As usual, round after round we get shown the _"boogie man deck"_ of the tournament and whatever they're playing against. Esper Midrange time and time again with 1 or 2 new cards. UW control with 1 or 2 new cards. Yawn. Best we got was a few looks at CFTSOC's latest _"What else can I do with Slogurk"_ deck, which honestly looked like a mess and wasn't particularly interesting.
Pros just didn't have enough time to test out the new cards and come up with something they knew FOR CERTAIN could take down a pro-tour, so they stuck with what they were confident was good with some minor tweaks for cards they knew FOR CERTAIN were good. The new artifacts are clearly very powerful, but nobody came up with a list they were confident with to take on the already existing threats, so it didn't show. Also probably in part due to the fact that Boros Convoke eats up anything on the slower end with no life gain, and the artifact deck definitely fits the bill there.
Its because those decks are the decks to beat. They're strong, resilient, and good in a meta where getting to untap with a creature could end the game.
@@Whostolemymusic I agree with your assessment, and the broadcast team most likely brought it up as well. My thing though is that I'm sure some of the new decks were there. There was a pretty sizable Other category. They just weren't in the hands of anyone they wanted to put on camera.
As someone that used to do tournament broadcasts: the viewer numbers bear out that people watch big names and people doing well over new/interesting decks by and large. It's the best of all worlds when a big name storms a tournament with a rogue deck, buuuut
It's horribly paired against the meta turn 5 make them sac 3 .... That's your board wipe? Harvester hits 2 toughness or damaged creatures less arousing is adventure virtue to neg 3 then discard harvester to neg 2 for total neg 5 to kill a single sheoldred feels bad
It’s also quite soft to counterspells. Esper just needs to hold one up on T4/5 while still developing their board and tearing your hand apart with the bat
Only real good hit is bramble familiar, and a good chunk can't even be plotted at all like virture or harvester since the 2-cost is a mode and not the main CMC
The most boring part of the pro tour was the fact that Esper Legends was still the most played deck, which is getting really old. Outlaws barely made an impact on the meta, in fact the winning deck played exactly zero card from the new set. I think Wandering Emperor and Raffine have lived past their prime, it's time to see a format where they're not legal. Can you do a video on what you think the meta will look like post rotation? What becomes better and what strategies which don't really have legs now can become relevant? I think Golgari is a solid candidate for the most improved post rotation, but there might be other things as well. Mono Red with Slick-shot is also quite scary, despite its poor results at the pro tour.
The pros just didn’t have enough time to test with the new cards but yeah I’m also disappointed with the lack of new decks. Can’t wait until rotation in july
15:17 autotapper moment
Mono red player moment
Audio mixing on this is really messed up :(
15:16 that's lethal right there if they disguised using the Foundry
Sloppy play from the opponent
Yeah, that was really bad...
45:25 Wasn't sacrificing two things to the Thunderhulk lethal?
Sparkles.

Pros tend not to play decks like these because they are bad.

Haven't watched the video past the deck tech yet but I'd like to hear the post thoughts on why this deck had 0 showing at the pro tour.

Here for jimmy boy
You’d have been my hero if you had actually run this. Sad day
why no jace?
jace only plots mana 3 or less

@@dittmar104 right but i would think the bramble familiar redundancy would be worth it since the floor is just passable card selection
