Hi Noelle! It was so good! I loved getting the viewpoint of the octopus which I thought was really unique. And it was such a heartwarming warming and emotional story. ☺️📚

This sounds like a cool read. I agree! There’s so much mystery to the ocean. So much left to explore!
    Love this cover!

Oddly enough, I just finished this book too. My sister-in-law loaned it to me, and it's one of her favorite books. I wasn't sure about it at first, but it really grew on me as the story progressed.

I would hang out with a Octopus named Marcellus.
This kinda reminds me of Arrival. It’s where these octopus like Aliens come to earth and they have to learn their symbol language and communicate.

It was pretty darn good, I thought it was cool to also have things seen from the octopus perspective. ☺️🐙📚

Just started reading this and was about to put it down for good until I heard your review, so I'll continue to read. But so far for me, it's top heavy with narratives about unexciting characters whose lives have yet to intersect with Tova's and Marcellus'. Perhaps it has to do with Van Pelt modeling Tova's life after her real grandmother who was obviously an inspiration to Van Pelt; this character development shows because Tova has been an exciting character since the very beginning of the story. But as yet, although the writing is good, the other characters in this book have left me cold and without feeling (either good or bad) for them. IOW, there is no draw to keep me involved with them. Perhaps if Marcellus were featured a bit more while developing the other characters, my interest wouldn't be waning.

I don’t remember at what point the characters start to intersect with each other. It’s been a minute since I read this but it did take a bit to get going. But then again not every book will grab a person the same way. I really enjoyed it and how it all ties together in the end. But I’m also a firm believer in DNFing books if you’re not enjoying it. Thank you for watching!☺️📚

@@SynsBookNook I'll read it because of Tova and Marcellus. Totally intrigued by those two.
