I am a JCI YK centrifugal turbo chiller engineer. The video was very helpful. I would appreciate it if you could upload more videos. I am curious about the role of each material inside the chiller. The information about the oil line is similar to what I thought. thank you
great video buddy, i have a small leak on the oil sight glass, could be the o-ring , do i have to drain the oil in order to replace it, or i have to remove the front plate also? Thanks in advance
Thanks for the video , appreciate you taking the time to share. What is the sequence for the solenoid on the oil return line? Is it open during on cycles and closed on off cycles?
Did you have to recover all the refrigerant to work on the sump or where you able to isolate. I have to work on oil sump. I have isolation valve on discharge piping going to condenser but nothing on the evap. So, my question to you is do I need to recover the entire charge.
I hate opening york chiller oil sump. they are always in an awkward location. they either in between compressor and condenser shell or at the bottom of the shells.
Having issues with a yk right now. While running sump LOP is about 60psig and evap is 38 psig. Changed oil filter and eductor. All valves open. Oil return solenoid working. But eductor filter stays hot, could it be bad balance piston seal, or faulty/plugged eductor block? If any one can assist it would be greatly appreciated
please advice have you ever have this problem ?, I am getting the oil loss in oil sump chiller York YK Centrifugal. The oil seems goes to evaporator The above problems occurs after : 1. We have changed the oil Return Solenoid 2. add extra valve for changing the TXV oil temp control (so if we need to change the txv no need to transfer pump down the R134a) 3. Change the new oil pump The actions that we already redone : 1. change again the oil return solenoid to the old one 2. change the oil cooler heat exchanger 3. change the txv oil temp control to the old one, but the extra valve for service still there (because of welded) 4. checking the oil block eductor inside the oil sump ( the springs are doing pretty well) The problem still remain ,getting the oil loss in oil sump chiller York YK Centrifugal. The oil seems goes to evaporator please advice, do you have any suggestion
only about start up 5 minutes , the oil sump level already minimum. The chiller still can run, but we just turn off the chiller off because the low level oil
Hi bro Holden , basically i've experiencing quite a number of times OIL - VARIABLE SPEED PUMP - DRIVE CONTACTS OPEN FAULT ALARM . Checked and verified no voltage across the output . Replaced to a brand new VSOP Board as well but the fault came back again in just 2 months . Any other alternatives or solution on what to check ? Can temporarily bypass somewhere to make the system online ?

Thanks. Was explaining eductor lines to my apprentice. I’m going to show him this video so he can see the internals
I love these chiller videos, I work at JCI and you explain better than my JM.
Great information Holden, thanks

Thank you for the support!
Good video bud.
I giggled a bit over the camera angles only because I recognize how difficult entertaining camera angles can be to find sometimes

Yes, and the oil temp will influence it opening
Thank you very much , so if the oil temperature in the sump is already low it will stay closed?

Yes, you wiil need to recover charge.
Good stuff

Super smart
Ferncos and PVC on the pressure safety valves!? That might be worse than not piping them outside at all
Dear boss my york centrifugal chiller a Alam coming oil-low differential pressure calibration. So i can remove this alarm??
What is the meaning of oil variable speed pump contacts open? Plss help me

To clarify Changed eductor filter, not block
I'm curious, do you take annual oil samples?
Or is it when a problem is suspected?
Where I am wr do filters and oil samples with every annual we do.
I do annual samples with lab analysis

How much run time in-between trips?
only about start up 5 minutes , the oil sump level already minimum. The chiller still can run, but we just turn off the chiller off because the low level oil
before we already pump down out the oil in the evaporator with its r134a , drain all the r134a and the oil in evaporator side

The VSOP boards lately are not very good quality. They usually come with a 1 year warranty and I've had to use it many times
Might want to get the input line inductor for vsop
