I'm not a Satanist either. I really enjoy this song because it sounds so out of this world, like a symphony or some type of deep mystical performance. I would say angelic but that might not fit well into Behemoth. This song is proof that if you're a metal band you don't need to play heavy and loud to sound great. Of course there is nothing wrong with a heavier sound. I am a long-time metalhead so I know what heavy sounds like.

The guitar solo in this is top notch. Its not overloaded and too busy shrieking for nothing like a lot of the other bands out there where the guys think that just because they have fast fingers that they're good. Most of them are shit. This is on par if not better than really huge names in the industry. Jimi Hendrix, the late great Phil Lynnott, Randy Rhoads, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Yngwie Malmsteen, Mark Knopfler, Zakk Wylde, amongst others. The solo is almost mournful, triumphant, solid, hollow, like a spiral up and down. It's not only an earful, its a mindful of imagery... mindblowing in its simplicity
Its those type of subtle & mature songwriting choices that separate BEHEMOTH from the rest of the noisy shit out there. The dark sincerity of that eerie spoken word piece at the end of the song is so beautiful in every way. BEHEMOTH is one of only a couple bands that I know of that are influenced by the same aspects of Satanism that influence my life. And your so right about the brilliance of that flimsy guitar lead in the first act of the piece. Its so "Hollow" that it left me feeling almost cheated like I didn't get the cheesy dual rectified shredder guitar lead that the song promised me or something.... the most commonly overlooked or dismissed brilliance of BEHEMOTH is the clever way of creating so much extra room for reflection in the most unexpected ways. When I was sitting there trying to organize my thoughts on the simplicity of it and how it is almost out of place and super eradic, a scene from Wizard of OZ came to mind. That scene with FLIGHT OF THE BUMBLE BEE playing way too loud when Dorothy is picked up and tossed around by the tornado was playing over and over in my mind to the sound of trashy obnoxious feedbacking guitars. I can't say that there are many BLACKK METAL songs that have enough empty space for me to reminisce about an old movie and Complain to myself about the volume of that particular scene..... Of course the second act of the song was coming to restore my hollowness with an uplifting spiritual experience that may as well be played in Church as far as im converned. That spoken word piece is a like prayer. But its like waving a flag too.. the unmistakable stinch of "proud to be a Satanist" fuckin stunk up everything for miles and miles. And I am proud to be Satan's son So I can't help myself when I listen to this song... I get lost in it and I know that everyone can see my lips moving even tho I am trying to not sing louder than the radio. I love it that the song ends by inviting everyone to put their horns up if your going to hell and cry out loud! Whirl The Wheel!! Oh My Father. Oh satan. O Sunn o)))
These typed of guitarists are the best they play exactly what’s needed at the right moment. Like emmpu vuorinen from Nightwish. He can shred just as fast as anyone else but he doesn’t he serves the song. Same with david gilmour
Fast fingers and accuracy are earned through loads of practice and discipline. I agree that the soulless shred can be a bit annoying but fast fingers don't equate to trash in my opinion.
