But the battle theme is the battle theme and this remake totally drops that.

If we'd count their collective power lore wise, the Lake Guardians trio is the second most powerful trio after the Creation trio, taking their ability to calm either time or space into account. Collectively, they have the power equal to Dialga or Palkia individually

Quite honestly, for the setting of the time period and the likely further mysticism surrounding the legendary Pokemon, I feel this remix of the Lake Guardians theme/battle theme is actually incredible. Been listening on loop and I just can't understate how incredibly mystical and otherworldly it sounds. I think this is an incredible, new take for the Lake Guardians. Easily S-rank for me.
The problem I have with it is that’s it’s not an encounter theme or a theme of their existence, it’s the theme of you forcibly breaching their serenity to kill or capture them, the og battle theme sounded like that because you’ve shattered the peace with powerful high beings. That, and I also greatly dislike the concept of a song ‘remix’ just throwing out the bulk of the original song in favor of looping a tiny section.

If you’re gonna remake a song, you need to actually use its parts, not just lazily loop a tiny segment, that’s just bad song-writing. The way they remix the Wild, Trainer and Gym Leader themes are awesome because they’re wholly original while also not throwing out the old compositions; this one feels like it wasn’t even made by A composer, much less the same composer as those ones.
I got a glitch where I was doing the lake trio quest, caught mespirit fine, then I went to fight uxie next, caught it fine too but right after, another uxie popped up in the cave. I caught that one too and it gave me the plate, even though I never went to fight Azelf. I went to Lake Verity to get Azelf next and it was gone, wasn't in the cave anymore. So now I have two Uxies and a mespirit XD
Is there a way to report that glitch? It could mess up the game since now you won’t be able to get Azelf’s dex entry and some progression is based off getting all Pokémon registered and research level 10

I understand this isn’t the absolute BANGER that their original soundtrack is, but this still fits them, if not more so than their original. You already met them, they helped you make the red chain and they are now offering one last test for you to catch them. The mysticism and slowness of the music really drives that home for me personally.
I like this theme. I like the mystery and ancient waves what it gives. Knowing who these pixies are, and how old they are..just perfect. Tho the DPP music of theirs also a good one too. It feels intimdating and energetic.
The Mind. The gift of a consciousness. The Body. The gift of a vessel. The Soul. The gift of a life. The Lake Trio mean so much more when you realise they represent the three things that culminate your being.
I'm not normally a fan of when a *battle theme* does that "song that never starts" thing, but in this case, I can piece together enough of their leitmotif to actually pick up where it's supposed to be looping lol

Kinda wish these 3 had alternate forms like the forces of nature. The Therian forms really helped differentiate those meanwhile the mind trio are basically headswaps, like the forces of nature were essentially palette swaps.
Therian Uxie could easily be an owl, an animal commonly associated with knowledge. Mesprit could be an otter? It symbolizes empathy apparently. Azelf could be some kind of big cat like a lion or tiger, representing its strength in willpower. Of course this would come with some changes in typing: Like Flying for Uxie Water for Mesprit Fighting for Azelf These in addition to the Psychic type and some stat changes

@@risinghopper1213 This is how I did it: -Catch a Golbat in Victory Road/Upper Mt. Coronet, it should automatically know Mean Look and be in the 40s. And depending on its Speed stats/level, it might not even need a Quick Claw to beat Mesprit -Catch a Scyther to the left of Veilstone, it should automatically know False Swipe. You could also buy the TM at the Department Store and teach it to Gallade, Absol, Drapion, Weavile, Gliscor, etc. -Catch a Pokémon that knows/can learn either Thunder Wave/Stun Spore, or a Sleep move if you prefer that. I prefer paralysis because I don’t have to worry about resetting it every few turns. Plus it’s easy to find Pikachu with Thunder Wave early on -Get the Quick Claw from Jubilife and equip it to your status user -Switch it to the front of the party and spray Max Repels to isolate from the low level Starly/Bidoof -Switch to the Marking Map on your Pokétch and run between Jubilife and 202 until it's on the same route -1 in 5 chance to move first and stun Mespirit. It will flee. When you get it, save. -Give Quick Claw to Golbat and switch it to the front -1 in 5 chance to trap Mespirit with Mean Look, whittle down its HP until it's at least in low yellow/red. Switch to another Pokémon so that Mean Look wears off and stall so that it can flee, DO NOT RUN AWAY FROM IT. -Save. -Give Scyther the Quick Claw and switch it to the front -1 in 5 chance to False Swipe Mespirit to 1 HP. It flees. May have to do this a few more times depending on where you got its HP to -SAVE AGAIN. -Now that it's stunned and at 1 HP, you have the max chance possible of catching it. You can give the Quick Claw back to Golbat, Mean Look it, and just chuck balls until you catch it. If your Golbat is a high enough level, like from a post-game area, it can actually solo Mespirit no problem with healing items, since the only attacking moves it knows are Future Sight which is typeless and Swift which doesn’t do a lot. As long as you keep Golbat alive you can keep throwing balls Did I mention that you should save? Well do it, a lot. Good luck.

this is actually my favorite varient of this theme and my first gen was 4. it really just fits them i think, and yeah it definitely fits the situation more with a mystical, mysterious tone like this
The bass was cool in the original but it didn't really fit the trio, the calming song we have in Legends Arceus is much more fitting and an overall better song to represent the trio.
As much as I love the original theme from DP, I starting to love this one more because it suits them and tying in the the old Pokémon world before the set rules

This was suggested all the way back in the original D/P. They sleep at the bottom of the lakes, and their slumber holds reality together. What we see and fight is just a projection.
Which of this legendary trio is the cutest? 🤔 Azelf is my pick. The music is fit for legends who gave us the ability to feel, think, and have to will to continue. Soothing but energetic and regal all at the same time.
You’d think the theme they have in current times would be the theme here and vice Vera’s because they were feared in hisui and kind of just chill in sinnoh.
No kidding, Azelf back then could manipulate the will of its adversaries, turning them into puppets. Mesprit would give people who show disrespect to it an extreme case of bipolar. And then Uxie would yoink someone's memories away if they were evil in heart, or approached it without giving a response to its questions. In other words, don't double cross these lake fairies, or part of your humanity will be STRIPPED away.
Its kind of a theme for a Pokemon thats not really afraid of you. They're not opposed to being caught, theyre just seeing if youre worthy. In Diamond, theyre cranky from being woken
I actually enjoyed that you can catch the Lake Trio without even engaging them in a fight. The criminal lack of False Swipe and Quick Balls makes it hard to catch pokemon in battles.
I only ever battled Pokémon to catch them as a last resort. Been doing that for every Pokémon game up to this point and it’s finally just an option so I made sure to just catch every Pokémon outside of battle whenever possible
I found catching pokemon in battles in this game to be laughably easy. Even most legendaries only broke out of ultra balls once or twice with no status on them, in a typical pokemon game that'd never happen (I like this btw, I don't find sitting throwing balls for 5 minutes straight to be fun).

I gotta say, while the old theme was a bop it always felt too...menacing for these little guys. while this theme kinda fixes that....its half and half for me. if anything I think this theme would suit deoxys alot more.
When I battled Mespirit I was disappointed by how quickly and easily I caught it (in a pokeball as well, the first one I threw at it in red health), so for Uxie and Azelf I refused to enter battle with them and only relied on Sticky Globs, regular Pokéballs, and back strikes. Much more fun.
The drop is so good like it's scratches my brain so much,,but I wish the buildup wasn't as long cause that kinda makes it feel not worth it if that makes sense. Anyways still a jammer

The mysterious yet serene and Psychic vibes of this theme remind me of Avery’s theme
I can’t put into words how much I love that one sound. It’s like that harmonica-like sounds that goes like “da da daa da da daa” you know aa
this has a more calm feel because mespirit doesn't move around unlike in diamond pearl and platinum.

This version of the theme fits them a lot better than the original does, the original was just way too intense for this trio
I wouldn't have expected a lake trio remix to sound like this, but it works and it's easily one of my favorite tracks in this game
while I like the more bombastic, bass driven original version of this song, I do appreciate the ancient and mysterious vibe this version gives off.

@@DrNotnert yeah imo that’s even better as a remake, they reused their most loved game to continue the franchise, they didn’t need a remake but people complained and pressured so puch they gave it a second thought and handled the remake to another compagny. Imo, legend arceus was the intended remake but we just didn’t realize it

this is actually my favorite varient of this theme and my first gen was 4. it really just fits them i think, and yeah it definitely fits the situation more with a mystical, mysterious tone like this

The bass was cool in the original but it didn't really fit the trio, the calming song we have in Legends Arceus is much more fitting and an overall better song to represent the trio.

Oh man the way the pan flutes hit with the original theme?? I know this is a more lowkey version of the theme but they did such a fantastic job changing a high hyped up song to this relaxed theme without sacrificing the overall "oh snap!" vibes

This was suggested all the way back in the original D/P. They sleep at the bottom of the lakes, and their slumber holds reality together. What we see and fight is just a projection.

No kidding, Azelf back then could manipulate the will of its adversaries, turning them into puppets.

Its kind of a theme for a Pokemon thats not really afraid of you. They're not opposed to being caught, theyre just seeing if youre worthy. In Diamond, theyre cranky from being woken
I actually enjoyed that you can catch the Lake Trio without even engaging them in a fight. The criminal lack of False Swipe and Quick Balls makes it hard to catch pokemon in battles.
False Swipe is there. You can teach it to a Pokemon by talking to Sizu.
I only ever battled Pokémon to catch them as a last resort. Been doing that for every Pokémon game up to this point and it’s finally just an option so I made sure to just catch every Pokémon outside of battle whenever possible
I found catching pokemon in battles in this game to be laughably easy. Even most legendaries only broke out of ultra balls once or twice with no status on them, in a typical pokemon game that'd never happen (I like this btw, I don't find sitting throwing balls for 5 minutes straight to be fun).
It's not a bad theme, its just super lowkey. It's like the theme was made for Azelf and Uxie but Mesprit forgot to put the emotion in it

I gotta say, while the old theme was a bop it always felt too...menacing for these little guys. while this theme kinda fixes that....its half and half for me. if anything I think this theme would suit deoxys alot more.

I like both original and legends arceus theme. It suits them.
When I battled Mespirit I was disappointed by how quickly and easily I caught it (in a pokeball as well, the first one I threw at it in red health), so for Uxie and Azelf I refused to enter battle with them and only relied on Sticky Globs, regular Pokéballs, and back strikes. Much more fun.
