- I played Hi-Fi Rush the moment it dropped and I adore this game. I havent felt this much joy from a game since devil may cry 5 dropped. Even if i dont keep makin vids on it im gonna still keep playing it. What im basically saying is i love this game, go buy it.

@@123VRa to be honest, every stylized game are stylish in their own way, so even if you list a bunch of stylized games , it's hard to say they are boring cause they looks the same. Each of them is different thanks to the variety of art directions, which is a thing that many hyper realistic games these days lack.

I think read somewhere that some of the team who worked on Viewtiful Joe worked on Hi-Fi Rush as well. I could be wrong though but I thought the same thing when I picked it up and played for a bit. We love to see it.
The director cited 2000s games like Viewtiful Joe and Okami (alongside non-Clover games like Jet Set Radio) as inspirations for Hi-Fi Rush, so you're not far off.

This game completely hit me out of nowhere, and I'm in love with the aesthetic, combat flow and never realized how the rhythm aspects adds to the energy like Neon White made me feel. Glad you're on it too!!
Adding music over gameplay usually isn't great, but doing it to Hi-Fi Rush is downright criminal
After the amount of games we got last year that was either shockingly bad or died immediately, hi-fi rush Is a breath of fresh air
Hot take about the game’s mechanics.
Sometimes the need to experiment and then the goal of needing to be in rhythm quite often clashes when wanting to get good rankings in this game.
It’s why I always end up with B for Timing in most encounters in the game
it would be a nice idea to have a freestyle mode or to be able to tweak the rythm of the game (that one might be harder tho?) but it's honestly kind of a nitpick
i feel the same but for the complete opposite reason lol. i feel like im always on S for time and rhythm, but im struggling to push the score past a B.

I think the combat could be a little more complex but I think that's because it's a Rhythm Action Game and not a Hack And Slash but it's a small gripe.
it literally wants you time time moves to an actual beat i dont think you get complex outside of that damage boost when your focused on a swarm of enemies

I don't know how, but you managed to express everything I felt upon seeing, playing, and beating this game in just under four minuets. The DMC inspiration. The JSRF artstyle correlation. And... oh, I got to tell you, it was perfect. Perfect. Everything, down to the last minute details.

This way is to double jump, cancel and air dash cancel.
You can even cancel dash immediately to do a instant attack that You're not normally supposed to be able to do.
Well that's one way to set an incredibly high standard for MADs of this game from the onset.

Not sure how hard you tried to synch the gameplay clips to the music btw, but 2:30 till roughly 2:45 is some actual god tier shit timing wise.
First the combo is timed perfectly to the "tame for him", then the jumpy looking ground combo looks like it follows the like.. pitch of the singer super well? Dunno how to describe it, but it feels perfect. And then the heavier instrumentation kicking back in right as you activate that cinematic assist.

Though with this game's rythmic nature, if your hopes come true, I can totally see some madmen coming out of the woodworks that will try make combos that follow specific songs like 1-to-1

God this year is shaping up to be a great year for games imo. Hi-Fi Rush being just an overall incredible game. Fire Emblem Engage having incredible gameplay despite the poor first impressions it gave, and Like a Dragon: Ishin just around the corner. I haven’t had such a strong lineup of games to play in a while.

First, what an amazing combo video, I did happen to notice that a good portion wasn’t on beat, but the ideas in this video are second to none that I’ve seen online so far, great work as usual BeeG! I was waiting for you to play this. I’m glad Hifi rush exists, it’s been pretty touch and go for Tango Gameworks lately, as someone that’s been a tango fan since completing the first the evil within, I’ll admit I was quite shaken up at the announcement of this game. The evil within 2 came out in 2017, it fixed a lot of the problems from its predecessor in game mechanics and storytelling, and was an amazing game that people passed on because the first game left a bad impression, people didn’t even give it a chance, selling half of what the first did. Selling little jeopardizes a company. Tango needed a successful game. My friend and I were talking about how this was going to be a Bethesda showcase, so wouldn’t it be awesome if tango came in and revealed the evil within 3? He said I was naive for thinking that. When tango gameworks was shown on the screen my heart skipped a beat as it came out of nowhere, my excitement quickly dissipated when the trailer played and they made the little jab “from the makers of the evil within (no, seriously)” which not only hurt from a standpoint of “this is what I wanted it to be” but also felt like a jab at EXISTING tango Gameworks fans, waiting 5 years for a sequel teased in the ending of the game. After the initial disappointment, the more the trailer played out, the more it looked like rhythm devil may cry, and I was loving it, I flipped when I saw John Johanas was at the helm because he is what made the evil within 2 so good, he was the director. Having bought Hifi day one, I’ve not stopped playing it since, it’s what I imagined it being and more but the characters are really what made the whole experience feel so wonderful, chai is an idiot with a heart of gold, peppermint keeps him in check. (Not going further for risk of spoilers) and I loved every minute of the game. I’m happy for John and his team having already been a fan of everything he’s touched, I hope it brings the RIGHT people towards playing the game that’ll retroactively create interest in them to playing tangos other series, a series in itself is referenced numerous times in the game. A series I hold dear as one of my favorite franchises in gaming, next to sonic and DMC. I hope more people play the evil within series (especially 2) and I’m happy tango is finally being recognized as the amazing game developer they’ve always been, they’ve always had great ideas, and I’m happy others see them in a better light now.

@BeeGBoss I think he meant it wasn't on beat ingame, as we can see indicators when attacks are on hit. However, I thought it was intentional, to not trigger Beat Hits which usually send enemies flying and might ruin the combos, dunno

Man I really wish the game had a hype original soundtrack like this. Like everything about the game except the fact that the original soundtrack is a huge miss in my eyes.
It doesn't have a musical identity other than "Rock that you would hear in the background of a Disney high school show and instantly forget seconds later".
Like people might make jet set radio-like songs because jet set radio has a musical identity that you can notice, but I doubt people are going to try to make a "song that sounds like hifi rush" because the original soundtrack really doesn't put effort into being hype or memorable, which annoys me because the rest of the game is so god damn good
I think some of the blame for the bad music is due to the fact that it is all in 4/4 time signature to make staying on beat as easy as possible. I wish they had made some levels have totally different timing like 3/4 or 6/8 or 5/4. Imagine having levels with different genres like Jazz, or Waltz, or even just metal? It's a big mistake imo that they went with the most basic bitch "rock" possible for the entire game (at least so far, I'm like 8 hours in).

I have to agree, it's what has stopped me from playing. I like the idea of combos on beat, I still prefer the standard hack'n'slash, but this is an interesting twist, however the music makes me actually wanna commit seppuku, It's not awful... but its generic enough to make my ears melt and my brain boil.
And I can't just put something else on, because that would screw with the beat.
You can't just go from beating up bad guys with 'Devil Trigger' and 'Rules of Nature' to this

God dang it. My freaking friend pitched this game to me as a beat-em-up, so I kinda just ignored it as the fad game of the month. Dude is always pitching fad games to me like Trombone Champ and whatever else makes the rounds on RUclips and Twitter. I gotta go tell him the difference between a beat-em-up and a character-action game so that next time, I know to actually be interested.
