Guess who broke his factory shifter cables and is using your installation video to install my numeric cables ; )
Mine is on the way for my 06 S. It's funny when I had the transaxle out to put a IMS oiler in I thought the cables would be a PITA. But I can't wait to feel crisp shifts
Hey this is Dan at Numeric Racing. Great install video one of my customers told me about. John Gaydos to be exact. I'm going to put it on the website if that is OK with you. Let me know and really nice job.
Great video...convinced me to have my shop, Rob @ Abacus Racing, Virginia Beach, do the install. They did a great job, 5 hours.
Thanks guys for posting. Definitely help for when I did mine. To help out with the job I removed the PAX seat. I did start the car without the electrical cable attached so ended up setting off the airbag light you mentioned. I was able to reset with my Foxwell OBD tool
Thank you for this detailed video. I used this video to put in the modified shift cable, transmission bracket and shift bracket on transmission (where shift link connects to)- all genuine 2011 porsche cayman parts. This was an excellent step by step video. Anyone thinking of doing this, I would highly recommend going with Numeric, even the modified cable from porsche sucks as it's held on by the plastic clips like the original which promptly slides off after a 100 miles, good thing I checked, tried it on the old bracket and it was sliding off too. So ended up drilling a few holes in the trans mount bracket and tying it with stainless steel safety cable.
awesome video guys. I just bought the numeric shifter bundle for my Cayman S. I’m going to attempt the install next week. Your video is very concise and helpful, I think I can do this install myself.
Incredibly helpful video guys! Thanks so much. One word of advice: At
Excellent diy video. Keep this posted cause im sure my 987 boxster cables will go one day and ill need this video to reference. Thanks!!
I not a big car fix-it guy but I just changed out for a Numeric shifter and cables, 3 hours to take everything apart and 4 to put everything back. the most difficult part was the driver side connection on the transmission, it's just hard to see and get to. Great videos from norcal987 I like your style...thanks
Good job guys, I enjoyed watching you guys struggle lol you make it easier for me lol Thank you!
nice work thanks for posting this will attempt this on a 997 soon.
I finished this project today on my own and I owe it to this video and your help Michael
Wow you guys should do more videos on the Cayman. Very detailed love it!!!!! Like maybe coil overs!!!
Very useful, thank you. The bit at about 25 mins in was just what I needed to see to be able to manually get my Boxster out of 3rd gear into neutral so that I can move it in the driveway. I’m going to let my Porsche indie do the actual work though 😄
Nice video guys and shows the work from start to finish. I'm based in the UK and Numeric has only started to distribute their products here. My shifter cables snapped while I was driving and I had to get Porsche to replace mine ASAP. Would have liked to have done Numeric!
My ‘new to me’ 2007 Boxster (2.7) with just about 100k will have to get this soon. I guess I need a challenge and this may be it.
Getting closer and closer to doing this too guys!
Certainly some nice insurance for that potential stranding due to broken shift cables. That shifting assembly looks so cool I'll be tempted to leave the boot off the shifter when I do this upgrade.
Top video fellas..really well explained
