Want to fix the Army? Remove toxic leadership, promote leading from the front, and promote more mentorship

I wish CSM Wiemer all the best. Hopefully he builds on SMA Grinstons efforts to build the Army back to the basics of war fighting.

As an Army veteran, with 7years in SOF, The problems of the Army are far beyond the selection of an accomplished CSM. How is the Army going to deal with a multitude of problems that do not have a singular root cause. With respect to Recruiting, How is this CSM going to bridge the gap of an American society that is fed up with war and mistrust of it's government?

What they need to add is better thorough investigation for those with Domestic violence records who were wrongfully convicted and therefore are ineligible of service. Basically I'm speaking for myself because I was getting abused by my ex and was directed to call the police to make a report. When they acted and were about to arrest her for the abuse she popped out with oh he tried sexually assaulting me or in other words raping her. Imagine that. And guess who got arrested. Me. Guess who got the charge. Me. And guess who has the record who can't go to the military. Me. I've always been a citizen who follows the law. I've always done everything right except expecting the police to really understand my situation and I was never able to fully explain to anyone in the court system what actually happened because they never let me speak up to prove my innocence. This happened when I had barely turned 18, imagine that. Now I'm 21 and still can't figure out how I can enter the military and prove my innocence. My only route is writing a pardon letter. And that's a big if. I only pray they accept my letter and acknowledge my innocence so I can get a second chance in life a serve my country with pride, along with my brother of course who's currently active in the Marine Corps

Well buddy, none of the services will accept you with a DV. Plus the Lautenberg Act disqualified you to own a weapon, even as a cop, security, or military. I'm going to assume this went to trial, your lawyer told you to take the plea deal, easy peasy. My question, did they take photos of the SA private parts and a rape kit? If so, did a doctor ob/gyn state there was an assault, or this is only hearsay between 2 people? You need to appeal the adjudication of the state district court. Worse case, depending on your state, you can request to have your civil rights restored, then apply for your 2AD restoration. The DV and the Fed Lautenberg Act will be your issue. 21 year vet, I've seen wives destroy their husband's career over jealousy, Jody, or just plain psychotic. Good luck🤷‍♂️

@user-yq3fz9ch5q appreciate the advice. I even went as far as to writing a letter to the president, they forwarded it to MCRC to review a investigation but so far I just have to wait again because I asked for an update. I also applied for my guard card again which will most likely get denied again. Literally this thing ruins people's lives. And for my baby mama they didn't request any SA evidence, they dropped the charge if I took the plea deal, I was worried more about the rape charge. I hear people say why be scared if you didnt do it, but they dont understand this justice system is corrupt and will put things on paper thag never happened, and me not having a lawyer only made things to the extreme. Since I didn't have a lawyer and they wanted to do a speedy trail right there and then, I knew for a fact I would be assed out. In jail I would've had to get my hands dirty or be killed for sure. My conviction occured in June 2020, the situation happened in January. I'm not sure if those things will still work. I hope they do. I'm losing hope little by little. I'll reach back though as an update if I can do something about it.

It's crazy but we're actually on the same page. I contacted a law firm a while back called Randall & Johnson, they do the exact same you mentioned. For me I was looking into a pardon from the governor and also they do service for civil rights restoration of 2 amendment. I won't doubt they charge an arm and a leg, but what would you recommend. Should I get my record expunged for now? Or should I just work and try to get their services with the record. It works both ways, getting an expungment can harm me because it requires the aggressor usually to admit to the conviction and beg for forgiveness. This allows them to live their life again without having that record pop up. But if I don't, and somehow someway I'm actually allowed to appeal this decision which is most likely not the case anymore, it can be possible one day to fight my conviction again. Thats what I believe, I don't know the facts but from what I read that's my understanding. Let me know what you think though

With all due respect. The new SMA is the absolute worst guy for the job.He spent his whole career in SOF and has no clue what life is like for 99% of the Army.Recently he has been asked about what he wants to do about Soldier QOL issues and improving recruiting. His response has been "use your COC" and "More Disicipline".The man is so out of touch with Junior Enlisted,JNCOs,and Junior O's.

Thinking about the time john McPhee said the regular army working under them with their rules really liked it... "turns out when you treat people like adults instead of dumb kids" cant remember the rest of what he said but that much kinda speaks for itself. Also remembering the mass exodus of expierenced dudes over the past ten years that more or less agree.

Out of touch? You have someone who is in a position to make changes. SOF doesn’t think like rigid conventional army. They have big boy rules. They’re free thinkers. You’re thinking about a typical conventional army leader.

With society and inclusion culture the way it is don’t matter what kind of lens he looking through. I know flight warrants who where prior GBs that say coming over to regular army was the biggest regret of their career. Lol I think SMA will feel the same but obviously won’t be in the position to express that while he is serving in the role. 😂🤷🏾‍♂️

What's wrong with inclusion? Exclusion is the enemy of progress. People who want exclusion or is against inclusion wants American to end up with a "habsburg's jaw." For those that don't know what "habsburg's jaw" is it's what happened to Royal hapsburg family when they decided that exclusion was better than inclusion.

It's probably the top officers in NCO sitting in front of Congress saying that the black mold issues in the barracks were discipline issue.
Or the problems with base housing was also a discipline issue which those contractors who did not do their job are not fixing the things that they're supposed to be fixing are still getting paid and still have these contracts
If you don't constantly and perpetually screw your people over they'll stay. But if you treat them like the stuff on the bottom of your shoe and then they get the fight tooth and nail with the VA to get their health benefits later to boot not a great selling point

I might be in the minority but i don't think a person who did most of their career in special operations is a good fit for SM of the army. He can't relate to the average soldier and the average soldier can't relate to him. Honestly a big army guy would be a better candidate.
