Last interview I read with snowy, he said that that was his favorite song of all time for Thin Lizzy. He said that was one of the few times that he and Phil actually really clicked
Wow I was at this gig and remember phil saying it was being filmed. He was telling jokes while he said they were putting new film in the camera's. Great too see it again , it was a fantastic gg
So many Lizzy tunes have helped me get through some tough situations. Renegade, It’s Getting Dangerous, We Will Be Strong, Fight or Fall just to name a few, I love this band to death ❤️
Gene Simmons eats ass compared to Phil. He does anyway. Phil was NATURAL! The only bassist I put in the same category is Steve McDonald Of Redd Kross, OFF!, Melvins....
Wow this brings it all back! Saw them four times, and Phil was the best. He owned the stage and the crowd, and the band always put on a great show. My favourites to this day, nobody comes close.
That’s awesome! My dads favorite band unfortunately he didn’t get to see them before Phil died! He told me he had one chance to see them but he didn’t go…
What makes the harmonies in Renegade so special is the fact that they are not "linear". Everyone with two guitars can play harmonies that are linearily always thirds. But here, the interval between the two guitar lines changes in the course of the phrase. This gives a very special mood to it. It's comparable to the ending phrase of "California Hotel", which is also very elaborated.
Somehow I think Phil is singing how he was feeling by himself. Great lyrics and great song with a lot of nuances. So sad, what happened in Jan 4th (my birthday) 1986.
I was at this gig - 30 years on, it still shines out in my memory. I miss the Lizzy, and even though when we get together to roll back the years - without Phil it's a bit of a Chinese meal, like it don't fill you up - know what I mean?
Phil will forever be my number one role model in music. What a fantastic man, one of a kind. And what an amazing band Lizzy were, such a high quality all the way through. Roisin Dubh!
Phil was an amazing musician and songwriter. While his voice and lyrics are more often the area of his talent credited let's not forget his superb bass playing. Especially the times he used a bass riff as an intro as is the case here. Also his ability to choose superb guitarists when needed which in Lizzy was quite often. RIP Legend
Steffan Pila "Renegade", to me is one of Thin Lizzy's best and most underrated albums of all time. I would put "Renegade" right next to "Jailbreak" because it deserves to be right next to the "Jailbreak" in terms of production, songwriting, and on a technical level. Snowy White is perhaps the most underrated guitar player in the history of Thin Lizzy, but this is definitively Snowy White's song because of the guitar structure in this song. Thank you!!!
Terence Charles "Snowy" White, great guitarist and composer, so little known and undervalued! I have in Portuguese edition on vinyl, his first two solo albums, they are excellent! They are as good or better than any solo album, by Pink Floyd musicians and even that any Pink Floyd album ... I think the fact that he played with Thin Lizzy, Roger Watters and Pink Floyd should have given him more popularity...!
You were a genius Phil ! I love you even more since my brother Phil ( as well) made me discover thin lizzy when i was 15 . My Phil died one year and a half ago, tormented soul as you were, being a bass player i Can just Hope you have fun UP there . Love my brother Phil😘 , rip Phil lynott you were really great 👍💙
32 years ago today.. phil makes me proud to be a Dub , phils voice and this song gives me this nostalgic emotion although i wasn’t around when Phil was, just beautiful great lyrics and downey holding it down as usual great drummer!
VAGABOND OF THE WESTERN WORLD is better. That's not my opinion either. It's just a fact. My opinions are objective truths. Ok, I'm joking now.. I like Emerald too 😎
There are certain times on YT when you see and hear Phil Lynott and realize what a huge loss it was to lose this great man so young. This is one of those times. Great song. Great performance
Forgot to Say i've just turned 52 but nothing has changed . Still listen to thin lizzy . Such crap music here in France ( i'm french) . I CAN'T hardly believe it.💔💔
Steffan Pila I prefer Snowy White, he has a bluesy style that fits perfectly well in the style of Eric Bell, Gary Moore, and Brian Robertson all combined into one bluesy hard-rock driven-edged sound. Thanks and Long Live Mr. Phil Lynott and the impressive legacy of Thin Lizzy. Cheers!!!
He's certainly a great guitar player, but I found him a bit boring and one dimensional compared to Robo. All the absolute classics from the band were with Robo and Scott as partners. For me Brian is one the most creative and talented guitar players out there whithout a doubt, everything the man touches with the right team, becomes gold.
The bluesy Lizzy intially was the personality of the band; but the hard-driving ROCK version with the hugely talented Scott Gorham is nothing to scoff at.
Esta canción me la dedico a mí por chorrocientasmil razones que llevo en el corazón y por que Phil me abrió los ojos a la Magia de la Música!!! Salud y Vida Pa'lante !!! Inner Beers and Cheers to All!!
chris walford Both took time out of tours. Brian was replaced by Mark Nauseuf for a Japan/Australian tour because he was burnt out and Phil sent Scott to rehab for a while during the Snowy era and they played a few shows with only one guitar. So yeah.
this is just amazing best bit for me is when he realy feels the groove kickin in and he gives it the beans on the vocals..... 1:16..... epic band.... legends
Renegade is not their best album but Thin Lizzy are one of few bands that I can without a doubt say that there is not a bad album in their entire discography.
Renegade is a good album. It has some cool songs. I think Phil was going for a more "New Wave" sound, starting with Black Rose. Songs like "Get outta Here", "No One Told Him", "Hollywood (Down on your luck)", and "Bad Habits" have a new wave rock vibe to me. What do you think ?
A comment from an American to 1986 and Gr...Contrary to what you say guys-Lizzy hit American radio strong after "Jailbreak"! Unfortunately in the U.S. they only seemed to know 2 tracks...Thin Lizzy from that time had some following in the U.S.--big influence on American guitar players and others I think...."Renegade"-great underrated "Thin Lizzy" song!! "Renegade" digs deep--and like another Irish legend-Rory Gallagher---won't soon be forgotten!
@liberatedcitizens some of my favorite stuff from them is when Lynott was physically losing it. His voice got better the puffier and sicker he got. I'm not trying to glamourize his self destruction, but Lizzy's 80's era must not be under estimated. Chinatown, Renegade, and Thunder in Lightning are 3 of their best albums.
Still makes me sad that Phil left this earth so soon, too soon. They never quite broke America, Lizzy, but they influenced *alot* of bands. If Phil hadn't been so unhealthy, there's no doubt Lizzy would've broken the US in a big way. It wasn't to be.
God damn you how'd you find this Thin Lizzy song Renegade?? I love you This is Phil's song this is about Phil he is the Renegade this is his ballad this is my favorite Thin Lizzy song this is a great record there's a couple filler songs here and there like fats but all the other songs are great I swear Why did I have to be 8 years old in 1983 on their final album tour thunder and lightning why? God these guys are great
Snowy White said it was his favourite song when he was in Lizzy.
I agree!
A magical song with beautiful harmonies!
Last interview I read with snowy, he said that that was his favorite song of all time for Thin Lizzy. He said that was one of the few times that he and Phil actually really clicked
Philip, I am still listening to you 40 years on, and you still sound wonderful. God bless you.
Me too
That bassline forever...unforgettable
Wow I was at this gig and remember phil saying it was being filmed. He was telling jokes while he said they were putting new film in the camera's. Great too see it again , it was a fantastic gg
If this song doesn't get you through the pain in your life I don't know what will
So true!
So many Lizzy tunes have helped me get through some tough situations. Renegade, It’s Getting Dangerous, We Will Be Strong, Fight or Fall just to name a few, I love this band to death ❤️
@@notab7626 i feel like renegade represents me to some huge extent
@@YvesFOLLETyou fucker this and red barchetta got me through
Music Died When Phil Left Us! A Modern Poet!
You can tell that Phil really enjoys being the renegade.
Phil was the epitome of a rock star. No one comes close
Gene Simmons eats ass compared to Phil. He does anyway. Phil was NATURAL! The only bassist I put in the same category is Steve McDonald Of Redd Kross, OFF!, Melvins....
Spot on mate
"Renegade" is such a beautiful album.....
Definitely mate, very underrated
How are you defining "mate"?
We're all of equal respect these days. If I were a "snakepitguy" ..why do you automatically presume I am a dude.?
Yes the best album.🎸
Wow this brings it all back! Saw them four times, and Phil was the best. He owned the stage and the crowd, and the band always put on a great show. My favourites to this day, nobody comes close.
Mine too!
3 Times at Glasgow Apollo for me, Lizzy were just on a different level, treasured memories.
That’s awesome! My dads favorite band unfortunately he didn’t get to see them before Phil died! He told me he had one chance to see them but he didn’t go…
Saw them three times. Wish I had a Time Machine to back and see them once again. The best frigging rock band EVER!
got a tear in my eye
Incredible band. Incredible musicianship. And I remain so moved by this song.
Music really died when Phil left us! A modern poet.

this is a haunting melody, though very beautiful, that is harmonized .
It's such a great song
all my love to Phil Paris Lynott...he still is number one.......
One of their BEST albums.
just kept alive for another 10 years and he would have written history
this whole album is amazing ..love it.
Thin..My ever very best band ...Phil Lynott. He showed the way to thousand singers.....
Somehow I think Phil is singing how he was feeling by himself. Great lyrics and great song with a lot of nuances. So sad, what happened in Jan 4th (my birthday) 1986.
I got the same thought when I heard this song
The more I listen to renegade the more it's growing on me
That's because it's already inside of you, my friend.
They tuned this down live. It gives an even more somber tone to the song.
The ultimate frontman sadly missed a brilliant songwriter and human being awesome rock band live
The guy was a poet. Never saw the original line-up live, although did see various versions
I was at this gig - 30 years on, it still shines out in my memory. I miss the Lizzy, and even though when we get together to roll back the years - without Phil it's a bit of a Chinese meal, like it don't fill you up - know what I mean?
A ThinLizzy concert was indeed a unique experience.
I really like renegade it grows on me every time I hear it
God I miss this band! 😩
Phil will forever be my number one role model in music. What a fantastic man, one of a kind. And what an amazing band Lizzy were, such a high quality all the way through. Roisin Dubh!
It is too bad that the brown sugar took him away from us WAY TOO SOON!
One of my favourites especially live
Phil was an amazing musician and songwriter. While his voice and lyrics are more often the area of his talent credited let's not forget his superb bass playing. You summed that up nicely Steffan Pila. Definitely Snowy' song.

Thin Lizzy will always be my proper rock band xx
32 years ago today.. phil makes me proud to be a Dub , phils voice and this song gives me this nostalgic emotion although i wasn’t around when Phil was, just beautiful great lyrics and downey holding it down as usual great drummer!
magnificent! nothing better than the Lizzy
Those bloody harmonies..... beyond words!
"Greatness""
My second favorite Lizzy tune (Emerald will always be no. 1)
VAGABOND OF THE WESTERN WORLD is better. That's not my opinion either. It's just a fact. My opinions are objective truths. Ok, I'm joking now.. I like Emerald too 😎
Me too.
Favorite live performance of this song...hands down.
The sound track of my life
I acutally liked Snowy White, As well as John sykes
Has to be the best rock song ever written
There are certain times on YT when you see and hear Phil Lynott and realize what a huge loss it was to lose this great man so young. This is one of those times. Great song. Great performance

Grrrrandiose! A big touch of class and feeling. Miss you Phil.....

Steffan Pila

Snowy White is a great player but totally awful live with Lizzy

Renegade Tour ❤
Phil is......fantastic, amazing, is the best...
Esta canción me la dedico a mí por chorrocientasmil razones que llevo en el corazón y por que Phil me abrió los ojos a la Magia de la Música!!! Salud y Vida Pa'lante !!! Inner Beers and Cheers to All!!
My first ever gig. Aged 11. I watched the band from the side of the stage. The volume and energy was crazy.
Beautiful... and those words are pure poetry.
Class , that is all !!
Masterpiece of the 80s :)
Brian D and Scott G the two that were always there for Lizzy. People forget that in the arguments of who was best guitarist etc
chris walford Both took time out of tours. Brian was replaced by Mark Nauseuf for a Japan/Australian tour because he was burnt out and Phil sent Scott to rehab for a while during the Snowy era and they played a few shows with only one guitar. So yeah.
One of my fav songs from the best band of ALL TIME! PHIL 4EVER!!!

Thin Lizzy rocks

It's one of the best. I've got all the studio albums on vinyl. My three favorites are Renegade, Jailbreak and Fighting.
They broke America in my perspective...its a shame that Phil and the crew didn't get the recognition
Best Rock and Roll of all times, Sorry, Queen, also is my favorite band of all times
I was there.
Great night, haven't seen the dominion gig version before, even though I was there 🤘
Me too
so sweet... ^^

GOD! Phil was so talented. He's a testament as to why being clean & sober is the only way to go. The Enemy, loves to destroy the very best.
fuckin classic shit.proud to be irish
Class
brutal thin lizzy siempre gracias
@liberatedcitizens
some of my favorite stuff from them is when Lynott was physically losing it. His voice got better the puffier and sicker he got. Man! What fucking live version! Live is much better! I was born in 82, and the Boys was gone...
GREAT...
Sem explicações ♥

Фил умер и его концертов быть не может, Без него это не моя группа Thin lizzy
Só essa música título já vale o álbum espetacular
thanks very much for sharing this! I wonder what they (cool Phil, Gary Moore, Rory Gallagher, Alvin Lee) are doing in heaven now..
Janis, Singapore
Snowy white is dynamite
Out of all the Thin Lizzy guitar players I favored his sound because it's very fluid very fluid very fluid
Snowy was the best in thin lizzy.🎸
Unreal
God damn you how'd you find this Thin Lizzy song Renegade??
I love you
This is Phil's song this is about Phil he is the Renegade this is his ballad this is my favorite Thin Lizzy song this is a great record there's a couple filler songs here and there like fats but all the other songs are great I swear
