Him and his team are phenomenal at what they do and amazingly kind individuals. Seeing the behind the scenes of Joshua’s video inspired me to create my own channel and I will be releasing weekly content. I picked up video creation 3 weeks ago with no experience and I am doing it alone so come grow with me! Thank you again for having me Josh, it truly was a once in a lifetime opportunity.
I was about to say, his flippy hand tricks are impressive, but his comedy might be more impressive 😄 the egg drop soup joke gave me a chuckle, the the "sayonara" joke had me goblin laughing.

I've seen people get offended at hibachi places before even when an asian chef with a heavy accent makes asian dad jokes so i can imagine it would be hard for a white chef to cook and skirt around those jokes that some people might be used to. people just like to complain. Your a good guy. I hope you succeed in whatever path you choose in the future.

Chef G's comedy chops are actually important here because this is something you don't see often anymore. He's not jabbing at people or anything, it's purely centered on what he's doing. It doesn't hinder anyone or insult or whatever, makes the whole experience much more pleasant as well. Just a little detail I picked up on.
I imagine the audience being in reach of your knives helps. But seriously it's undoubtedly a combo of joking about what you know (in this case cooking and food) and not making the guest feel bad.
It just goes to show that no matter how well you've mastered something, there's always something else to learn. I'm always terrified to suck at something, so truly amazing humility to try something new on camera.

Having worked at a Teppanyaki restaurant in my late teens for 6 months I truly appreciate just how hard it is to not just cook, but also be entertaining. It's truly a tough gig. Especially when we would be walking around past the grill and chef would randomly fling a full bowl of steaming hot rice at you whilst carrying a tray of entree's or empty dishes and expect you to catch it with no warning 😂 seriously well done just like your steak for such little training.
One of my first jobs was waiting tables and bartending at a teppanyaki place for a few years. It was grueling but also definitely so much fun! The really good chefs had such incredible personalities and knew how to play up every little interaction they could. It was so impressive to watch and hilarious to see them switch it off or just tone it down a ton when they got to back of house. I’ve also seen just how much practice it takes to get all the tricks and get the pacing of the whole show (plus making the food which is like pretty vital). It’s super intense I’m mad impressed. Oh and please remember to tip the waitstaff as well as your chef! There were far too many times where people would write in “tipped the chef” on their receipts 🤡
Hey Josh, I’m a Vietnamese student and I’m planning to make lunches for school. Could you make a video on dishes that are affordable and are fast to prepare please? Also on how to choose ingredients that I can make a range of dishes from without having to go shopping too many times in the week. I really appreciate if you could do this.
My wife bought me a Benihana Chef experience a few years ago. I came in between lunch and dinner to train, then cooked for my family a couple days later. It was a really great experience. My instructor chef wasn’t as funny as Chef G, but he was a great teacher. I cooked about the same overall as Josh did. Except, I didn’t overcook my steak! So I win!
Love this. Great job for cliff notes training. Pretty good on remembering the order of things too. Not surprised it got away from you. It would be fun to see how you do you with additional training and actual mastery of teppanyaki
I went to Benihana once and it took SO LONG for the guy to do the onion volcano that I kept mentioning it. When he finally did it, he put so much oil in the volcano that it exploded in our face when he lit it!! 10/10 do recommend the onion volcano lol

The first two ellipses could have been substituted with periods.... sure... but there is a subtle difference in how the sentence reads with fullstops. WIth the ellipses it reads more like discussion in dialogue, where the sentence relies on the previous sentence to complete the thought. It's a stylistic difference for sure. Maybe your comprehension of sentences and paragraphs is more analytical than conversation oriented... where each sentence is a complete standalone thought. The style I thought I was achieving was more conversational with ellipses denoting contemplation of the next phrase in the thought... making it easier for the reader to tell the intention or emotion I was trying to convey. It's so hard to get empathy... or conversely sarcasm... right in text for instance.

Did I just willingly watch a 20 minute commercial for Benihana? I mean it kinda worked, reminds me of when I went to one as a kid and fell in love with it
I would've honestly had a nervous breakdown during the *training* let alone trying to multitask with tricks and cooking in front of a live audience expecting a meal with a show. This video might not depict the usual experience at one of these restaurants but a hell of a lot of effort went into it and a lot of channels don't have the guts to upload a video when even the slightest thing is wrong with the final product so this is impressive on multiple levels.

As an English person, I can’t deal with how chatty guests at the table are 🤣 When I went to Benihana in London we all just smiled politely and laughed along at the jokes quietly, as you should 😅
That's a completely different world than I am used to. The U.S. and Latina America, plus Italy and Spain have this unspoken agreement that if we're not reacting loud enough to the jokes and show, we are basically saying the jokes and show were the opposite of entertaining, so boring. The louder we are, or if you're not a loud person, the bigger the smiles, the more fun the person made the experience. Reacting enthusiastically is not rude, but a compliment

The U.S. and Latina America, plus Italy and Spain have this unspoken agreement that if we're not reacting loud enough to the jokes and show, we are basically saying the jokes and show were the opposite of entertaining, so boring. The louder we are, or if you're not a loud person, the bigger the smiles, the more fun the person made the experience. Reacting enthusiastically is not rude, but a compliment
