"So... Ren does reggae." I'm with you my man, it's unreal how many genres he covers and how multi-faceted he is. True artist. Happy you checked this one out, the Bongo Bong, or War PIgs cover are also fantastic. The highschool/college analogy hit with me as well hah
He's back in the UK--temporarily, I think--to produce the Money Game 3 song and video. Speaking of wildly talented, I just saw him in a short video playing classical-level piano in an airport, with travelers walking by. And of course he plays the last note with his foot. 'Cause he's Ren. 😂 (I think it's on Loptr Lab channel.)
This busking session is one of the best! I agree, he’s fantastic at leading and directing the jam session. He’s so talented. And you can tell that the music just flows through him. The other guys in The Big Push are also very talented.
Apparently, Britain has close links with the reggae music of Jamaica. He is a big Sublime fan. Listen and repeat. .then feel it! He also does a mean Sinatra impersonation.
They are busking or street performing for tips it's how ren started . Reggae is pretty much instilled into all the English as we grew up with it in mixed cultures . Reggae punk ska
Ren was a big fan of Bob and it shows, Ska and punk were the Englishman gangster rap about the same time. He has an amazing musical knowledge. A really unique artist!
Wade in the water/,trouble so hard, nina somone by the big push ren kills the base, for harmonic praise you, , ,and also paint it black, and war pigs mash up all covers 🔥 keep up the great reaction.
Ren could throw on a cowboy hat next week and put out a country western song and I wouldn't be surprised. And he would kill it too. Once in a lifetime talent right here.
In the UK, most of our R&B came up through Reggae Ska, via House Rave Drum & Bass and UK & 2step garage. Most Black people until recently had their roots in the Caribbean and I think that reflects what our R&B sounds like. Lots of huge reggae influences and bands actually come from the UK.
He says he took 2 guitar lessons, hated it, then taught himself everything else he knows from RUclips. 😺 Also, though, his family is very music & film oriented, so I think it’s half genetical talent/half training.
Ren plays in so many musical lanes, like you said, his talent is getting to an ever increasing audience. Plus, he comes across as a lovely person, humble, great sense of humour, which given what he's been through and continues to go though, we're truly blessed seeing his career blossom.
Ren is self taught. He's had two guitar lessons, which he's said weren't helpful. When there is something he wants to learn, he goes to youtube and finds a lesson that he can use. My guess is that he's literally a musical prodigy: he HEARS things clearly and remembers them in a way few of us can, and that extends over a vast variety of music. Romain, Gorran and Ren shared a flat: the band started organically - they were all heading out to busk so they started doing it together, and eventually they melded into this, all while keeping separate identities and working alone or with others when they chose. Romain is also a monster on the guitar and has a gorgeous voice.
Love it when Ren puts a big smile on people's faces. -This is coming from a hardcore Queenie who is also a Renegade now. ☮☮Sending Love and Respect across The Pond , Thank You!
Such a great vibe on this video. would have loved to be there. The punk vibe is Ska. Ska and 2 tone became popular in the UK in the late 70's. The Specials, Bad Manners and of course, Madness.
Ren, on the Justin Hawkings YT channel, was asked by Justin, have you had guitar lessons. Ren said no, self taught. He had 2 lessons, but because of his ADH, he couldn't do it. He said I learnt from YT. if I wanted to learn a style or technique. I would find a teacher I could resinate with. 😊
I've been liking your Ren reactions, but this one was special. I could literally feel you enjoying every moment which made it a pleasure to watch - chalk up another sub from me.
Ren has an original song in a reggae style that's fire with a girl named Eden Nash called "Humble" you'd think he is actually Jamaican but fell into a white can it paint. He literally can go it all. Well almost. He needs to do a country song and heavy metal and he would then be God level haha. Awesome reaction as always bro
Maby try the nina simone Mash up with the Big push to hear his soul coming out! The whole band being great again! For another great jamming together the jamsession at home during quarantaine . Eh hows it called… live nation or something. Youl find it. Great fun!
Great reaction Zack!👍 If you haven't already, check out The Big Push version of "Englishman in New York". Listen to Stings version first (if you don't know it that is) so as to compare the two. Both great, but Ren and Co always put their magic touch to stuff. X
Hahaha the big push actually did do a 50s doo wap song called Oh My Woman! Have you seen any of Ren’s incredible soul performances yet? Check out the Big Push live busking mashup of wade in the water and trouble so hard, or the live busking performance with Sam Tompkins that includes Man’s world.
Great reaction thanks. Interesting you compared with Prince as I been thinking is Ren becoming a new Bowie. Prince fits perfect as a comparison in many ways
Love your appreciation and enthusiasm for Ren and the Big Push's music. All talented musicians. Check out The Big Push's cover of Manu Chau's 'Bongo Bong', Sting's 'Englishman in New York', Fat Boy Slim's 'Praise You', and 'War Pigs (Black Sabbath cover)'. Their originals are fire, such as 'Sweet Little Lady' the live acoustic version is fun, and 'It's Alright' and 'Swan Song'. For more examples of Ren's versatility, check out his song 'Fire', his cover of Elvis Presley's 'Can't Help Falling In Love', and Ren & Sam Tompkins Improvising Around Stevie Wonder. This is just a handful of recommendations, I could go on, but I'll stop there LOL. Enjoy the journey!
Agree, IMO he's the new gold standard in music! He reminds be of nobody, and that's ultra rare in music. At a 100,000 thousand feet, maybe he reminds me a little of Paul McCartney, when anything he touched was magic. I've been listening to Ren for 3 years, and I truly believe he's the best musician in music today! If he can stay healthy, he'll be bigger then them all. He's the Elvis of our times, and Elvis didn't write, was a so so guitarist, but man could he sing & entertain. How in the world is Ren not on the radio stations of America is beyond me. My biggest thanks ever to Yahoo.
He recorded a cool version of Elvis's I Can't Help Falling in Love with You - he did it for his Grandmother because it was her favourite song. You should check it out
The Big Push Nina Simone/ruclips.net/video/DbL7Frf6nJI/видео.html (both Ren and Gorran sing & Ren plays bass in this one). An original of The Big Push, Icarus. And, check into his really early stuff like Fire and Dominoes. Humble w/Eden Nash. Busking with Sam Tompkins. I'll stop there or I would be on here all day.
He continues to surprise with his wide talent. I have been following him for some time now and I have yet to hear anything from him that I would say is bad. Everything is good, even though he spreads over so many genres - and so convincingly. He is amazing ❤
Ren has me listening to genres I don't play with (rap) and I love it when he does it. Oh! I saw someone else doing a reaction to Ren doing his version of Elvis' "Can't Help Falling In Love With You." I'll see if I can find a link. And if you haven't seen "Crutch," go look that one up and be sure to read the note he pinned. It's heartbreakingly beautiful and like nothimg else I've seen him do. He says it's one of the pieces he's proudest of.
I think you know that Ren has been dealing with health issues for 10 years. He's been Canada since January undergoing daily treatments to try to help with his autoimmune disease and the damage done from taking the wrong medications for years. He's in the UK to film a new music video for an upcoming song "Money Game 3" and then he's back to Canada for 2 or 3 more months of treatments. Thanks for another great review/reaction. Looking forward to seeing your new tattoo. Take Care.
Watch Ren and Sam busking doing “Walking on the Moon/No Diggity” more reggae vibes! This is one of my faves! Also watch them do “war Pigs” it was from this same busking session! Love your reactions!
He has done a cover of Elvis .. He is master of the arts. Check out Trick The Fox and you'll see Ren in his much Much younger years. Much love and respect from The UK
This is my favourite of the big push busking videos. The Wade In The Water mash up is second and War Pigs & Paint It Black from this same session. Also Englishman in New York. I just love everything 😂 Yep Ren does reggae big style! 🖤
great reaction. For more versatility still, and since you mention taking an Elvis class, you might appreciate Ren's cover of Can't Help Falling In Love.
You've studied reggae but don't know what ska is? ;) Ska was the forerunner of reggae and was very popular in the 50s and early 60s. There was a huge ska revival, in Britain, in the late 70s and early 80s, where it, when it became one of the dominant genres in the UK charts. Reggae has been extremely popular in the UK, from the late 60s onwards and was especially huge in the 70s and 80s. It's basically part of everyday British culture. There was a lot of immigration to the UK from Caribbean countries, post WW2, especially in the 60s and 70s. Ska and reggae formed a cultural bridge between white and black youth, at a time when overt racism was common. Interestingly, most British ska bands were mixed race, some even being all white. The same was true, to a lesser extent for British reggae acts. Bob Marley was a frequent visitor to the UK and it's a little known fact that his father was a white British man. :)
Dude you were allowed to learn about music legends in school for extra credit that is insane no way that woukd happen in the UK. Extra credit was never anything so fun
The first quarter of the video . . . . . . Ya ' seemed nervous // subdued ---- ---- UH - OH . Covering The Great Bob Marley ? ? ? Hmmmm ? ? A F T E R the first 1 / 4 it seemed as if ' ya could N O T - Stop - Smiling . It seemed as i f ' y a were Sooo Pleasantly Surprised . -
ThecUK has a fairly large Caribbean population from the 1950s onwards.
Reggae and Ska very popular from the 1960s /70s.
I love it, grew up with it.

Ren is a natural when it come reggae vibes. He reminds me of Sting, the early days of The Police.
They do a great cover of Sting’s Englishman in New York ❤ and he did Walking On The Moon with Sam Tompkins
This busking session is one of the best! I agree, he’s fantastic at leading and directing the jam session. He’s so talented. And you can tell that the music just flows through him. The other guys in The Big Push are also very talented.
You should try War Pigs, and wade in the water, and paint it black.
This 😊
Btw, he did do “Fly Me To The Moon” by Frank Sinatra!😊
Ren learned everything from RUclips, studying artists, even hoe to play guitar.
Love love love Ren and The Big Push! Big shout out to Romain too. We love Romain!!! All so talented!
Apparently, Britain has close links with the reggae music of Jamaica. He is a big Sublime fan. Listen and repeat. .then feel it!

Big West Indian community in the UK so plenty of Reggae musicians about that he would've associated with learning along the way.
It really would not surprise me AT ALL lmao.
❤ Bongo Bong.

Romain the lead guitarist is also in money game. He has the bag on

Try 'Fire' from his Freckled Angels album if you like Ren surprises!
🔥🔥🔥❤️
I'll say it again... he's On His OWN LEVEL!!! No One Compares to him!!!
Agree, IMO he's the new gold standard in music! He reminds be of nobody, and that's ultra rare in music. He recorded a cool version of Elvis's I Can't Help Falling in Love with You - he did it for his Grandmother because it was her favourite song. You should check it out
Ren is the fu**ing swiss army knife of artists. Greetings to the Bardcore Renegades out there 😊
❤❤❤ this band! Yep, nothing surprises me either. Ren plays piano too.
Romain is so full of joy and does his own thing.
You may want check out The Big Bush - oh my Woman , gives me a 1950’s vibe. Also Ren did Elvis’s Can’t help falling in love, which I also love,❤
Was going to leave the same comment, Oh My Woman is great and an original song.
It’s worth it.
You should go.
So cool.
What is?
Ren is already a legend
pure fire
You've gotta check out their last concert before Ren had to leave for Canada! The Big Push live at the Brighton Dome, Sept. 9th, 2022
He’s a student of great music and always does it justice when he does covers
I don’t think Ren will ever stop surprising us - and I love it!!!
He's actually done Frank Sinatra on a Livestream 😅😅😅
He was amazing. You should watch it
Great choice and perfect reaction to this amazing performance. Chinchilla and Ren doing One dance/Drunk in Love busking in Brighton Uk as well.

I believe there is nothing in music Ren CAN'T do ❣️
Lol my favorite reaction man. "So Ren does reggae" is exactly how we all felt 😂
Can you imagine just being out and about and stumble across this? Free? Shit. I'd pay a lot of money to be there!
Watch Ren and Sam busking doing “Walking on the Moon/No Diggity” more reggae vibes! This is one of my faves! Also watch them do “war Pigs” it was from this same busking session! Love your reactions!
I thought the same. He could be the next James Bond or the next Pope, nothing this man couldn't do. Great reaction thanks.
Thanks for the reaction I enjoyed it
He is special
He did a cover of an Elvis song. His grandmothers favorite "Cant Help Falling In Love". Gotta watch the big push Praise You!
"I'm done being surprised" LMAO facts.
He has done a cover of Elvis .. He is master of the arts. Check out Trick The Fox and you'll see Ren in his much Much younger years.
Much love and respect from The UK
Reggae is ingrained in UK culture
This is my favourite of the big push busking videos. The Wade In The Water mash up is second and War Pigs & Paint It Black from this same session. Also Englishman in New York. I just love everything 😂
Yep Ren does reggae big style! 🖤
My 10th listen today, he does frank Sinatra beat box as well if you look lol 👍🙏🐊🦉
It's got 10M views now :)
great reaction. For more versatility still, and since you mention taking an Elvis class, you might appreciate Ren's cover of Can't Help Falling In Love.

Heading deeper into the Ren Rabbit Hole.
🔥❤
Road to Zion is a Damien Marley song and hip hop is a great song by Dead Prez
Yes I think I mentioned that in my reaction. :)
i read somewhere that he says he learned on you tube. Not 100% sure
😊😚😄
The audio sounds low pass filtered. Lovely reaction though
