  • In this talk we’ll learn about Servo, a web rendering engine written in Rust. The project was started by Mozilla in 2012, and moved to Linux Foundation in 2020. In 2023 Igalia took over the project and has been leading its evolution since then.During the presentation, we’ll review the main features of the Servo project, give an update on the latest status and discuss the long-term vision of the project, which aims to become an alternative web rendering engine in the future.

I believe Servo needs it's own Channel to market itself Linux Foundation Europe and Igalia could do better job, Ladybird has it's own discord channel and Servo deserves same love

he's a Spaniard speaking English (kind of a meme on itself) and he has bad enunciation. Good for mumblecore but bad for speaking in public.

while western nerds are wasting their time with Ladybird because it has cool memes and a Discord, only China supports Europe's desire to have an advanced browser engine independent from Google.

exactly,Ladybird isn't truly built even ground up,it was but now they added components from other browsers,Servo is going to be fastest browser in near future,i am hopeful.

I just looked at the changelog for the most recent servo build and they mention pulling in parts of Gecko and SpiderMonkey from Mozilla. Is that a long term decision to use existing tools or will they be rewritten? If not then you're not really comparing like for like, Ladybird seems to be almost entirely from scratch, even down to the JavaScript implementation

Ladybird is fully independent itself. It has its own JavaScript engine, layout engine, HTML parser, CSS parser and other things. What were you thinking whilst typing this blatantly misinformed comment out?
