Surprised to see someone else here with the same opinion! Rescue Bots, IMO, was a well-thought out, well-done masterpiece. Rescue Bots Academy takes the spark of the original show and stomps on it a few hundred times. Not only is the voice acting for the original characters awful, but _this..._ This is just _really bad writing._ I didn't even know it was this bad.
@@thilsiktonix uhmm can you explain how is it bad? I understand these characters are embeciles. But are we going to take a dislike for characters and amplify it to criticize the entire show?
Personally I liked the OG Rescue Bot series and I enjoyed it. I look back fondly on it and although it wasn't perfect it still taught me valuable life lessons, like how to open a soda bottle that I accidentally shook on the way home without it completely exploding (It only leaks all over my hand), and that survival skills are actually really important if you ever find yourself stranded on a deserted island with four idiots.
Its the fact that GRIMLOCK is smart and is canonically the RID version but if he got more growth as a character. Snarl and Sludge? They really are idiots, not the clumsy Bots that made sense for being clumsy and dumb because their processors couldnt handle it, or the Animated and WFC Dinobots being more savage from being either non-Cybertronian or the experimentation done by Shockwave respectively. These 2 have no reason for being this stupid, at all. And they somehow were qualified enough to become students in the academy!?!?
The G1 Dinobots were in the right position as warriors. They helped people the way they could, they loved smashing things, they know it and they're good at their jobs. RBA's Sludge and Snarl are supposed to be Rescue Workers. They are the worst at their jobs.
Depends on which G1 you're talking about. The G1 cartoon Dinobots were dim, but not a danger to innocent bystanders. The G1 Marvel Dinobots were very intelligent but rebellious soldiers that were fine with acceptable losses, so long it wasn't one of their own.
I agree with you, Ms. Emperor Kumquat; these two are not the Sludge and Snarl from the aligned continuity comics ( for they are true badasses with actual ordinary senses and know the damage could be fatal to those around them in their surroundings). However, Grimlock from the aligned continuity would get fed up with them and probably want to stick his sword to their chassis. Being part of a rescue operation requires great abstract thinking and strategies by learning the basics of these resources. I may not be that smart, but I take my community college courses seriously. I didn't know that working as a firefighter is pretty cool; a job requires the basic need of strategies and effort to be brave in dire situations that could lead to life and death. Rescue Bots Academy would be better off without these two and with Slash and Brushfire, even though I haven't watched the entire season of the episodes. Great critical analysis, Ms. Emperor Kumquat, and I salute you with praise for being a brave and wonderful firefighter for doing your job!
To be honest I kinda love these two like from the clips I’ve seen these two make me chuckle and the idea of a “Autobot runamuck and Runabout” and they are probably just using the names like Grimlock in RID15 as they’re inspired by them and they could probably be good demolishing for construction
My headcannon is that this is a parallel universe to the prime universe with the only difference being shockwave lobotomized them once he was done experimenting
I personally believe that the dinobot's names are rather common for dinobots. Like how 'Alex' or 'Sam' are common for us. As such these guys are not the same guys from the games, and the ones from the games are just vibing on cybertron. Except for sludge. He dead.
Going to correct you on a couple of major things. First, the Aligned Continuity is completely non-existent. They were trying to make it a thing, it didn't really happen, it doesn't work in any way. Even the two closest shows that directly reference each other still don't work being in the same continuity. Sideswipe was the one who invited Blurr to join Bee's team on Rescue Bots but when Blurr shows up on RID he has a completely different design and Sideswipe doesn't want him around. Sideswipe actually looks the same on both shows but has a completely different personality. RID Sideswipe is young and immature while RB Sideswipe is confident and actually knows what he's doing. WFC Grimlock, RID Grimlock, and RBA Grimlock are three entirely different characters. Not only is the design different but his personality is different between the two shows. RID Grimlock unlike most other Grimlocks actually spends most of his time in robot mode. RBA Grimlock never even transforms. RBA Grimlock is also smarter than his RID counterpart. Basically it's no real surprise that Sludge and Snarl are not the WFC versions... especially considering Sludge would be dead. Secondly, yes the characters are idiots HOWEVER... what you said about characters who are idiots will always be idiots is COMPLETELY WRONG. Technically EVERYONE starts off being an idiot, that's the whole point of going to school in the first place is to get an education, because no one is inherently intelligent. There are those who can learn more easily than others and I could even agree that Sludge and Snarl would likely have some sort of learning disability but that does not mean they are incapable of getting better, it only means it's going to take more effort to teach them than anyone else. You have basically demonstrated yourself to be dumber than the characters you're criticizing by not knowing that. There even is evidence of them learning in the show already. You even played a clip out of context that was actually the result of them learning what a lever was from Hoist. You think they would have gotten the idea to do that on their own if they were actually that dumb?
The aligned continuity is a lie. The only reason they say all these games, shows, and comics is to keep the audience invested. There is no connection. So they were never smart to begin with here.
I always said the Rescue Bots shows answers most of the continuity problems left by RID15 like how many years does it take place after Prime or how RID Grimlock had a completely different name before renaming himself. However that's stuff I found out on the wiki years after their episodes aired. Watching this video, yeah, the preschool shows may patch up some plotholes but it seems they added some new ones like these idiots and they are supposed to be the same people from FOC.
I think I can see what they were trying to do. Probably they were trying to repeat the G1 dinobots but make them more funny. However it just ends up with crappy characters
1:00 just imagine transformers prime season 3 With experimented dinobots by shockwave Fighting against the predacons shockwave clones seem like cool idea there's so many cool plot points they could have gone down that way not mentioning grimlock would like to prepay shockwave for his treachery Against his team.
the insults made me cackle. Tbh they probably got kicked out of the school, watch them cause a volcanic eruptions in a simulation that caused a city to get wiped out and go “oh my bad”
same here, I don't like Sludge and Snarl, but I love rba Grimlock!! He's so cute and nice! He might be out of character a lot, but I like him anyway!^^
Imma be real, FOC and Prime/Rescue Bots/RID 2015/Academy just CAN'T be in the same continuity. Bumblebee died in FOC, Arcee and Cliff aren't partners (Jazz is his buddy), Grimlock dies, Shockwave dies, etc. So these two being different isn't even a problem. But I won't deny characters being that dumb is bad. You can't have both characters as idiots, you need a straight man.
Honestly RBA deserved the FOC Dinobots, not RID15 Grim and the Dinobots likely also from the Alchemore or were new Cybertronians. RID Grim was fine though
Wait a second, in one of the scenes you showed, laserbeak was a recruit... LASERBEAK!? Does no one know that laserbeak is a decepticon spy for soundwave, who is apparently still alive btw, who is giving the recruit rank out?
Laserbeak was called out being not a criminal of war so laserbeak was sent free but he was abandon by a random crew so the recruits saved him and ex decepticon wedge allowed laserbeak into the academy

@@lordstarscream01 1. In the end of the show laserbeak became an autobot by optimus 2. Carnivac is the leader of mayhem but most of the time he was hanging out with the autobots kinda like megatron from earthspark
I'm more or less at the point where the Aligned continuity just doesn't exist for me. Every single major entry seems to be fundamentally incompatible with every other major entry. The differences between the Cybertron games and Prime are relatively small, but they're still pretty big in their own right (specifically in characterization and how the events played out). The major thing they share is overall tone, which is more than you can say for the rest. RID and Rescue Bots are so tonally different that they really can't be considered the same setting at all. The aligned continuity is ironically named, given how it is arguably the best example out there of the dangers of not maintaining a consistent or coherent setting.
I just am reminded of grimlock in foc like when he bit off shockwaves arm and ate it survived a spacebridge tower explosion and then I look at this guy =
When you take badass warriors and make them "kid-friendly" by making them complete idiots for the sake of comic relief. It's always aggravating when a show ruins characters that could be "kid-friendly" without completely dulling them down. >8( Seriously, though underused and still not clever, G1 Dinobots were still (A) decent warriors, (B) smart enough to be useful, & (C) well-meaning though surly and cartoonishly violent. The dinobots' enhanced physical power, endurance, fire generation, and their general fearlessness of danger were their strengths-- they weren't clever, but they weren't total morons-- and the other Autobots knew that, which was why they tolerated the Dinobots in the first place despite making them the butt of jokes.
I mean, dispite not growing up with G1? I actually liked Sludge and Snarl but their Rescue Bots ver.? yeah, I can understand why they're so hated. Plus, like Grimlock, I noticed their voices were different compared to their Cyberverse counterparts too lol.
Truuuuue, I felt like facepalming whenever these two bozos did ANYTHING in the show, and it did not feel right that they become recruits at the end of it. Also that, despite the heartwarming episode of "More Than Meets The Eye" where it's explained that not all Decepticons are bad, they end up making Laserbeak an Autobot anyway, as if Autobots are the only good guys and it's wrong to be a Decepticon. I was disappointed at that, like Laserbeak couldn't keep his much cooler insignia because of "flock imitation" or something, you know what I mean? I LOVE Slash, especially since she's like an OC that's actually official of mine. By this, I mean, a couple of years before I discovered there was a female Dinobot raptor named Slash, I actually made an OC myself that was a female Dinobot named Slash, who turned into a raptor. I also made up a few others like a pachycephalosaurus named Skull and a parasaurolophus named Siren. And maybe one or two more that I forgot atm. So when I found her name on the wiki under Dinobots, I was like "Wait..." and when I looked at her page, I was like "WHAT WHAT IS MY OC DOING ON THE OFFICIAL WIKI, DID I JUST PREDICT HER EXISTENCE WITHOUT KNOWING LOL" So... on one hand, Slash is an OC of mine, and on the other hand, she's ALSO an official canon character, which I find hilarious and awesome, so that's why she's my favorite Dinobot. And I lost it when Slash appeared on RBA, that was like one of my favorite episodes. The Tracker class she's in is the only thing I hadn't done with my own OC Slash, I had really only thought of the name, gender and alt mode. So having my baby work alongside the likes of RBA Sludge and Slug is... UGH, stay away from those guys, girl! You're too good for them!
I hope someday the WFC styled depiction of Dinobots can make a comeback in a more serious TF show. They are basically just g1 dinobots but on steroids and it was the greatest thing I ever experienced when I saw Grimlock striding across the battlefield in that trailer to help Optimus.
I can totally agree that rescue work isn’t for Sludge and Snarl. Accidentally helping people and brute strength isn’t going to be enough. I’d rather have just Brushfire, Slash, and Laserbeak become rescue recruits than the addition of two bumbling Dinobots. At least those three would be an excellent team if a season 3 happened. Other than Sludge and Snarl being dumb and most likely to put more lives in danger than saving them, having those two are just too much Dinobots. Slash is just enough.
I recently just finished watching Rescue Bots Academy and I think the show is very good. Whirl is my favorite character/rescue bot recruit and I really enjoyed her joyful personality. She is just a good bot to be around and is the reason why I kept watching the show until the very end. But Sludge and Snarl are the only characters I like the least. All they do is be dumb, destroy stuff, and put people in danger. This Sludge/Snarl hate video is justified and I see why Emperor Kumquat hates them. Note: I do know the locker cameo where there’s a drawing of Whirl and another Whirl together. I headcanon that RBA Whirl is the daughter of Whirl.
You know that the dynamic between the new rescue recruits will only work because Sludge and Snarl will be simpletons and do nothing more than follow orders from the other 3 recruits and succeed through sheer dumb (especially dumb in this case) luck when they aren't taking orders.
Makes you think if the writers of Rescue Bots and Rescue Bots Academy actually read the source material, play the War For Cybertron games, and watch Transformers Prime or not.

What if something that we didn't get to see happened to them? Their behavior must have an explanation
That's probably just how they are.
I REFUSE TO BELIEVE THIS IS THE SAME UNIVERSE AS TRANSFORMERS PRIME
It's folk like Sludge and Snarl that prove Primus has a guiding hand in events and he hates all he's created and more.
I just wish they transformed and had robot modes and maybe give a logical reason as to why they became so dumb
G1 Dinobots weren’t the smartest either. Rescue Bots Academy, I can’t really tell the difference.
But they are better. They accomplishes many things by themselves
Season 3 Dinobots were absolute dummies
He's a guy.
Hell they make the original G1 cartoon Sludge and Snarl look hyper intelligent.
Oh my word, it hurts me to think of these two... Things.. Interacting with Arcee
i was going to riot if you were talking about the OGs versions
in cyberverse, grimlocks intelegence depends on his mode, it might be a similar situation with these morons.
I personally believe that the dinobot's names are rather common for dinobots. Like how 'Alex' or 'Sam' are common for us. As such these guys are not the same guys from the games, and the ones from the games are just vibing on cybertron. Except for sludge. He dead.
He isn't actually. He was featured in both Rage of Dinobots and Beast Hunters comics that are continuation of the Dinobots' story from FOC.
Quite possibly your best title yet
Thanks haha
I have never watched this show but judging by your explanation, Those two would be Laserbeak’s motive to be a decepticon again.
The aligned continuity is a lie. The only reason they say all these games, shows, and comics is to keep the audience invested. There is no connection. So they were never smart to begin with here.
Damn they really did the Dinobots dirty
the dinobots probably caused chernobyl
One of the reasons why aligned contiunity is a mess.
I just can’t imagine one day war breaks out again in cybertron
I always said the Rescue Bots shows answers most of the continuity problems left by RID15 like how many years does it take place after Prime or how RID Grimlock had a completely different name before renaming himself. However that's stuff I found out on the wiki years after their episodes aired.
Watching this video, yeah, the preschool shows may patch up some plotholes but it seems they added some new ones like these idiots and they are supposed to be the same people from FOC.
Honestly the only reason there here and the reason for Grimlock's design change is to match up with Cyberverse but it doesn't work
I think the writers of Rescue Bots Academy thought the Dinobots were iconic because they were very, very dumb when thats not the case.
Also, Kumquat, dont get too invested in a show or some characters if the writers ruined it beyond redemption/repair. Trust me
After FOC dinobots I can't return to idiot dinobots anymore.
The worst part is that they can't even transform
I think I can see what they were trying to do. Probably they were trying to repeat the G1 dinobots but make them more funny. However it just ends up with crappy characters
Basically Grimlock is back but Sludge and Snarl are horrible
But this video was pretty good and I hope you did had a good day
1:00 just imagine transformers prime season 3 With experimented dinobots by shockwave Fighting against the predacons shockwave clones seem like cool idea there's so many cool plot points they could have gone down that way not mentioning grimlock would like to prepay shockwave for his treachery Against his team.
the insults made me cackle.
Ngl I think the Dinobots just work a lot more as soldiers with anger issues like the games more than just being dumb caveman
the aligned continuity doesn't make sense just forget it
Yeah that's my only complaint about rescue bots
They're in the aligned continuity
One more thing:Wasn’t sludge nearly dead in FoC without dinomod?
He actually came back in the tie-in comics that take place between FOC and Prime
@@DarkknightChris one more thing:WHY.THEY.GAVE.HIM.DINOMOD?
Honestly RBA deserved the FOC Dinobots, not RID15 Grim and the Dinobots likely also from the Alchemore or were new Cybertronians. RID Grim was fine though
Rescue Bots Academy? I never knew that Rescue Bots had another series.
And Grimlock situation? Aligned continuity? What are you talking about?
"Sludge dumb."
And I thought Optimus Primes design in this show was Bad but good lord what did the do to Sludge and Snarl especially Snarl
Shockwave: Well science is more art than science
Wait a second, in one of the scenes you showed, laserbeak was a recruit... LASERBEAK!? Does no one know that laserbeak is a decepticon spy for soundwave, who is apparently still alive btw, who is giving the recruit rank out?
Laserbeak was called out being not a criminal of war so laserbeak was sent free but he was abandon by a random crew so the recruits saved him and ex decepticon wedge allowed laserbeak into the academy
I still think it's a bad idea
@@lordstarscream01 i understand shouldve been a more redeemable decepticon
Like carnivac
2 things
1: they didn't even remove the decepticon symbol on his head, big mistake bots
2: I don't study a lot of the aligned continuity, who's carnivac
@@lordstarscream01
1. In the end of the show laserbeak became an autobot by optimus
2. Carnivac is the leader of mayhem but most of the time he was hanging out with the autobots kinda like megatron from earthspark
Wow, I still remember Grimlock from Fall of Cybertron. This is almost insulting.
Starscream: This is why I joined the Deceptions. II'MM!!!!!!. THE SMART ONE!
If brains were dynamite, these guys couldn't blow their noses.
Seriously, though underused and still not clever, G1 Dinobots were still (A) decent warriors, (B) smart enough to be useful, & (C) well-meaning though surly and cartoonishly violent. The dinobots' enhanced physical power, endurance, fire generation, and their general fearlessness of danger were their strengths-- they weren't clever, but they weren't total morons-- and the other Autobots knew that, which was why they tolerated the Dinobots in the first place despite making them the butt of jokes.
Hear me out: What if they're so stupid because Shockwave messed up their brains to the point they're regressed to being like toddlers.
So when I found her name on the wiki under Dinobots, I was like "Wait..." and when I looked at her page, I was like "WHAT WHAT IS MY OC DOING ON THE OFFICIAL WIKI, DID I JUST PREDICT HER EXISTENCE WITHOUT KNOWING LOL"
So... on one hand, Slash is an OC of mine, and on the other hand, she's ALSO an official canon character, which I find hilarious and awesome, so that's why she's my favorite Dinobot.
It's like the twins mudflap and skid 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Trained scraplets? Did I hear that right?
yet they're somehow better than my personal grudge against TFA Constructicons xD
Why?
@@SWDude2710 Geewunner logic got into his brain again lol.
@@monster-mecha_enthusiast_2002 ahh.
Honestly just glad they didn't soil the mighty name of paddles
This is why i think Rescue bots academy is non canon
These two used to be so cool. Poor guys got done dirty. Snarl’s my favorite of the Dinobots too.
When nobody in the show acknowledges how dumb they are you just have to keep rewatching this video
The way u used ”djävlar” instead is pretty genius. I also agree with the video.. yEp
Hearing the old dolan duk show background music over this is making me feel weird things
My boy sludge didn't die for this mess
I'll really wouldn't try too keep trying to add this show to the TFP continuety, Hasbro is not trying to do it, this is more evergreen than anything.
OK. I get it. These are abominations.
And in WFC we see them ripping apart cons left right and center
You know that the dynamic between the new rescue recruits will only work because Sludge and Snarl will be simpletons and do nothing more than follow orders from the other 3 recruits and succeed through sheer dumb (especially dumb in this case) luck when they aren't taking orders.
Makes you think if the writers of Rescue Bots and Rescue Bots Academy actually read the source material, play the War For Cybertron games, and watch Transformers Prime or not.
Their brain are tiny peas
basically me and 2 of my annoying classmates that wont stop asking questions from the teacher even tho the the teacher repeated it like 3 times
Why do I like this video
